ok....what about the movment factor of the A..?? Its got to be really moving at 600ft on up....that has to really add to the jump.... i will be mostly be jumping....well...my only close access to any objects will be A's for training..... I was wondering what you would rate jumps from the various eliments...ie B.....A....S....E...? I have been learning that each comes with its own set of issues that need to delt with differently. For instance, on a A....What is the "puker factor" being 1000 ft up and having that think swaying back and forth.... Thats has to add to the difficulty... And lets not forget the wires... A building is not moving...well you wont notice movement, but again ...a hole other set of isues. The E's.....It seems the only issues is really getting away from the wall.....it does seem that it does give you more time to get stable if you had exit issues...again ...I have never base jumped so i could be completly wrong.. but the E's seem to be more like flying... The S's well i can see the much safer aspect of the span....well at least over 400 ft... and the B's....these as not many above 600ft have to be the most technical...ie landing space...power wires...cars on streets.... and of courese the building it self....ie smacking the building.... So how would you rate your jumps in terms of pleasure... Like Looking down in the valley and just soaking it up or looking down off a swinging antenna...There seems to be a big difference in jumps....Would like to hear different views.... Hey Tom, This may not be what you are looking for but i have a article about reasearch on the humback whale fins that Airplane manufactures are looking at because the knobs on the fins generate a tremendious amount of lift then when they dont have them. Hey Jap, Well thats a thousand people who could make a difference. And yes, i would still base jump if a five year old could....being alittle far fetched. Let me ask you this, would have started base jumping if someone told you its a 1 in 2 chance you will go in?// I dont think so... Death is a integral part of life....not just base jumping...Think about flying or driving or going out in a boat....your in a container....full of explosive fuel......moving at speed.....come on thats life....life is a risk..... Do you base jump to defy death or for the pure real injoyment of feeling free and flying? Skydiving, climbing and flying use to be small group of what people called dare devels....That has all changed.....Base jumping will evolve also and i see nothing but good will come out of it... Hey Toni, I think it would make a great new thread. I am all for keeping places like this open. For one, I haven't even done my first base jump but could not imagine learning and training to jump here only to find out some people contributed to getting it banned. I think the more information like this that is circulated the more it will make it more evident , we have to start taking some responsability for our actions. ...We are guests when we are there and should act like it... I would invest in anything to preserve my right to one day jump there the same way i invest to make sure my kids have the same freedoms i have today.... Lets here more Toni....... Ok, i agree with Tom...but what can we do as a whole to prepair better? We always seem to get wound up after a few people we know go in.....For crap sake... We send people to space and we can solve these simple problems with all these people who have such vast knowlege.... i dont buy into that...we figured out that with anti lock breaking we wont go out of control ...whats the "180" mystical opening statistic... It just sounds a bit lame in this day and age with the technoligy we have now... Hey johnnyb, I really like the video. It give a great prospective of the ground rush or should i say a mental picture of whats visually taking place through the jump. I will have to say thoughs openings are really low....i counted 2 secounds till landing....That has to way low... know.........I am new so it looked about 6 secound longer than i would have gone....can anyone else comment on this....Thanks In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... completly understood.... I was just saying the higher the better.... I think a big wall first jump would be to much information to process and you would not be doing what you where suppose to doing....like tracking like a banchee....... ...being overwhelmed by rock racing by you and ground rushing up at you.. it must be quite hypnotic i would have to say....the crappy thing is that i assume you would not remember so much of that jump.... I had a roommate not to long ago who jumped EL CAP.... Do you know a guy named HOOT Gipson from the Deland area? I can remember him telling me about jumping that.....small world.....let me know ....And your anoligy is kind of like mine. From a jumpers point of view i would like to see a little more altitude than a couple hundred feet to get use to it. I do remember 700ft in the military one time and i know it had to be less cause i counted to 4 1000 and 2 secounds later as i watched this guy on the dropzone...i could almost read his name tag....while i was falling.... i plf'ed " well pounded in "and wanted to kill that stupid butter bar LT. for putting us out at the wrong alt. I would have to agree....but i think we still overlook the most important fact..... It only takes a bucket of money...a moron with a huge ego..... a well paid guide.....to scale Mt. everest... they do it every year...and even when they die, and they do every year..... they find it acceptable..... go figure.....Rollarball willl soon be prime time tv again....only with the death factor..... I am fielding this question twards Tom as he has been giving me very solid information but would like to hear from everyone as well. I have to fully agree with Toms approch of learning base. I think it has to be the most logical and safest way of approaching it I think. Even from a jumpers point of view and i would guess a non jumpers point of view. i.e....they think water will save them.....not.... Anyway, what and how would a jumper in say Norway learn how to base jump? do they have bridges, antenna's..... I agree that even the most experianced skydiver has not seen the kind of ground rush that he will in base. And on 20, 30 secound delays on big walls....i know you cant be counting 1 1000 2 10000.......i just cant see it. so how does one learn this skill if he has no access to anything over 1,200 ft... And it has to be a sensery overload going from 800 ft jumps and then going to a big wall.... I would have to say the first time you see rock passing you by at 10 ft away has to be a little overwhelming.... Even from a idiot like me that straps a propeller to his feet... If you were going to do that, why not just eliminate the tandem master and run a standard death camp? *** That has to be the quote of the day.........Even from my unexperiance...it would be a death camp.... Oh Tom, i did see a picture of what looked like a AFF looking base jump in Norway. The picture was at exit and he had a jumper on each side with AFF holds on his harness....
