  1. I can vouch for that....Look at Kenyon in Continuum...he looks like a very good base jumper but whats up with the line twists at every object in Europe....Thats some scary stuff... Not saying anything bad about Kenyon, He is awsome on film and inspires me to do what he is doing sometime in the near future...but thats my opinion..and i have never done a base jump so there you go skyglider...it s a outside opinion... 2. It must be double that from what i heard....I bet he stopped counting..... Nice article........ In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  3. The first group is thinking "if you really cared about BASE as much as I do, you'd quit your day job and jump all the time." *** Here...Here Tom.... I wish i could quit my job and go hang out with the family in europe all summer......Anyone want to pay my mortage and expenses???? I promise i will have fun..... It's all great if you are a trust fund baby or 22 years old and single but try it at 40....It a juggling match In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... 4. Your to funny....I just watched that OLN thing on TV last night.. Actually 2 of my kids and the wife watched it and i was surprised to see they really enjoyed it. Only one of my kids can make it threw continuum 1 and 2.....I said the same thing ..that was this the 80's but the kids thought it was cool.... So tell me what do you see in the future? Dont tell me all white.......... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  5. Yes it is base jumping...Even a certified moron knows if you jump off of something 1200 ft high there is surely a risk of death. Just as someone who freedives...look at thoes fatality numbers...but you still see more of that on TV than you will base. Not because it is safer but because of the sheer numbers who partisipate.. As for facing the grim realities of stepping out side your front door....just stepping out is a grim reality... I am a crappy painter....i hate painting...It's boring.. 6. where these incidents or something that happened on the ground?/ Just currious.. Thanks chris In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  7. I was just saying that they dont wallpaper over the black side, they just dont show it... Thats not a bad thing...They do that in everything..... Sorry if i did not completly understand.... for instance...check this out as it is a msn advertising flyer on msn's home page. Millions see this http://www.expedia.com/daily/deals/Daredevil-Adventures/default.asp?eapid=7208-1 And yes base did not make the cut.... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... 8. Hey Tom, Do you have any information on the causes of the 3 ? ie. old, worn, ring failure, loop failure or anything i did not mention? Thanks chris In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  9. Well when you get on a plane do they show crash pictures of planes that went down and bodies of passengers..... or when you go diving ...do they show you people who ran out of air or drowned... how about when you go surfing..how about a person with there limb gone after a shark took them for a snack.... I could go on but It's fruitless.... They are not lying...they are telling you what you want to hear..All the products you see sponsored on race cars are highly visible on TV. I doubt that you will see a Chicken Micknugget sticker on Tom A's rig in the near futue. Even know he is jumping allot and Highly visible in base does not mean he will sell Micknuggets... Not that i ever watch these lame ass shows....well my kids do....its just entertainment...and ratings dont lie...and sells advertising. It's hard to tell if they have no talent because most of the stuff they do is thought up by the show producers so it would be hard to practice for. As for any of them base jumping i highly doubt it...All the stunts they have to do are run by stunt people so they are safe.... "Most Deadly Season" is a reality show and they are some crazy ass people...they do this for a living not for fun.... You could not get me out there for a Million bucks.....You should check the Darwin #'s for thoes guys...And for big money....dont knock people trying to take a shot and a few dollars....This is America ya know... BASE on Aussie TV

Hey Nickster, I thought i would add to your post if you dont mind. You have to realize the only people who saw this live in Austraila. Of thoes viewers anyone who has satellite tv most likely didn't watch it. I havent watched 60 minutes since i got satellite. Thoes who have antenna TV who watched it ...of thoes maybe 10 percent watched it while the rest went to the kitchen to get something to eat or drink. So really , not many watched it and thoes who did probubaly didnt care unless they are base jumpers themselves. So that would narrow it down to a few people. I watched it after downloading it because i live in the states. I watched it one time and really can't remember really anything that anyone would really have so much controversy to talk about. It's like i watched "Most deadly season" yesterday about crab fishernman. They lost 6 guys in 1 day on two boats and nobody really cares unless your a crab fisherman or related to one. So what, its TV....It's entertainment ...who cares....Untill Lary King dies base jumping a building In NY...i really dont think there is anything that will change or anyone that will be affected by a quick piece on base jumping...well I did see that today is the end of the season for Mt.Everest....... But i will no doubt forget about that by friday.... Just my 2 cents...... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  11. that makes allot of sense....But what about learning when to pitch at greater delays....Are you actually counting to say onethousand sixteen or is it by sight...i would think when you go from say 3 to 4 second delays even if you have say 60 to 70 jumps....going to a 16 second delay must be a bit overwhelming with all that is going on. I would think also you have the tendency to look down allot as it's all new... Just wondering if this would cause a headdown direction by eye sight or head direction..head facing horizon eyes looking down... Thanks Kev... KFI . . .

Hey Kevin.... That sounds like it was the one. I also stumbled apon a osha stories about tower accidents that was not very bright.... one of them involved a family working on a tower when there unrated winch gave out. If i find them i will post a link. Towers are pretty wild places.... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  13. I was thinking about unstable exits last night watching continuum 1 and 2. I was thinking about a few fatalities where this was the cause. My question is that on a delay of 12 seconds say on a high object, wouldn't a say aerial move be a way of recovery? I seem to remember training in my skydiving training that if unstable to ball up and then arch hard. This is also a recovery for skysurfing when you loose stability. I dove in my younger years and balling up was a way to create speed or momentum. Would either of these help with stability apon exit. I would think for one....You would not backslide back to the object. Number two...you would create speed...less surface area.. to gain stability. Granted we are talking about mere seconds but it was just a thought. When you watch someone front fliping verses just boxman exit, you can see a big difference in speed and direction. Just wondering if something like this would apply. And yes you would need to be proficient at diving technices.. Just a thought Chris In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... Very cool story nick. I stumbled apon this when i was looking for that tower collapse when the guys where hoisting up new sections or something. A couple of the guys where sitting on the hoisted sections....."nuts"...if you ask me ...Then it hit something near the top and the hole think collapsed killing all the guys. It was TV a while ago. I think it was in texas...not sure though These towers are fascinating how they construct them and how they stand.... Thanks for story.. The Odds...

Just when i thought it couldnt get any better...... Let take our kids base jumping...... ***Posted: Mon May 16, 2005 4:22 pm Post subject: Scolding Needed--To Save a Life -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today (May 16, 2004) an organization in Southern California posted some chilling photos. See: http://www.thegardendiet.com/images/climb The narrative with the photos describes the situation. They depict a young woman free-soloing a 70-foot near vertical rock wall, with her daughter, aged 10 or less, free soloing with her. The rock looks rotten and the route looks about 5.5 or so. The mom and little girl were encouraged to free-solo by the father/husband, a man named "storm" who leads seminars and retreats about raw food vegan diets. He apparently has been climbing for 25 years. He also has apparently positioned himself as something of a guru, passing this type of climb off as a mystical/spiritual event. To my mind, this is an outrageous example of child endangerment. Steps have been taken to contact protective services. However, I believe it may be helpful if members of the climbing community emailed this couple to try to penetrate their addled minds with some notion of responsibility. Mothers speaking to Jinjee (the mother) may be particularly helpful. If you agree, please email Storm and Jinjee at: [email protected] I suggest including a brief synopsis of your own experience as a climber, and other detials that would help them understand why you are qualified to have an opinion on the matter (for example, you may have raised children that lived past their 10th birthday). A flood of emails may save a life or two. In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"

Hey Japp....Here is a post from a pretty cool site i thought is very relevant ... Take a look: http://www.rockclimbing.com/topic/88241 In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  21. I will take a few of my freedoms away in exchange for keeping a mojority of really stupid people either away from me or at least instill that just because they are morons doesnt mean they can try to screw my life up....It only take a short trip to a unregulated country to make glad your freedoms come at a price. The price is rules...I am sorry, but without rules there is chaos...It's a fact. Weather unwritten or writen....there needs to be a natural balance...Freedoms are usally paid for at price ... And then again, i have been know to be completly wrong... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"
  22. $70,000 to go and kill yourself....see.......they are nuts.... As you say Japp, The more we fight the harder it becomes. I have a idea Nick, what if some people in base get togather and come up with a list of ideas or operating guidlines that we feel are accetable to the base community. We then write these up and submit them to the NPS and we instead call them rules , as this word they understand.. In every part of this planet, weather it be in the animal kingdom , gangland South Central, prison, or just our own lives, there are unwritten rules we abide by to survive. I think thats what japp is saying...Is it better to risk loosing everything the ones pioneered and died before us or do we do whatever it takes to preserve it and let it continue as i think they would.... Again , I have been known to be complety wrong... In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle"

  24. So...What is the fatality rate of climbing? What is the fatality rate of Everest??? Thats got to be super high....compaired to the amount of people who try... El Cap....How many base jumpers died there or where hurt badly verses climbers.....I would bet they have had more climbing incidents.....and again i could be totally wrong. Its true...society calls climbers on Everest Adventures...And they call base jumpers leaping from Kjreag..completly nuts..... Well you wouldnt get me climbing Everest....they are nuts if you ask me.... Just my opinion of the moment.... Nice post Japp......Chris In the end...the universe has a way of working itself out.... 25. Very Nice Nick....I feel the same way... It's like someone telling you how and where to hike.....I completly understand... I think that to jump El Cap again will take alot of effort by alot of people and most of all.."some kind of bowing to rules" I know Nick ,that it is against principle, but there has to be a medium ground. After 9-11, things that we normaly took for granted will never be the same today. After Jan Davis, and i dont know the complete story....They surely would have said no. It's hard to blame them when you are trying to show something in one light and then you screw the pooch. It happened with the space shuttle,9-11, high rise construction the list goes on. It only take one tragedy to bring everything to a halt. My friend got stopped the other day cruising to slow and to close on government cut which is where the cruise ships dock in miami. They had a 50 cal mounted on the deck loaded and a guy actually standing behind it.... Things changed allot down here from something that happened over 2000 miles away and over 3 years ago. It goes to show you that we need to be aware of things far from home as well, as they will effect us also.... Nice post though Nick...... Sounds like you are feeling Good!....I'm glad.......
