  1. See the ad on the right: http://www.hbo.com/biglove/?ntrack_para1=leftnav_category0_show3 I'm really looking forward to the new season of Big Love. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  2. It doesn't surprise me that there would be such lame designs that would be proposed. What is a bit disturbing is that there must have been a large committee of people that are probably highly paid professionals. I can see them now, patting themselves on the back for their mod/cutting edge design that they had the wisdom to make the winner, "I say, this one is simply smashing!" Perhaps they'll have the good sense to admit their mistake and try again. That would bruise some egos, so it would have to be forced upon them by someone (higher authority) not involved in the original logo approval. 3. How do you make the conclusion that you shouldn't mix brands? Perhaps you're the only one with more than half a brain/the only one that is not stupid? It is going to happen anyway, anytime you change the oil. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 4. Isn't the criteria supposed to be 'most improved' instead of who looks best now? People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  5. Lost 29 pounds, down to 211. I didn't register/post at the beginning, and I'm not interested in posting pics, but I don't mind telling y'all. I also don't mind buying smaller jeans and wearing a lot of clothes that had been gathering dust. 6. The value of any used rig should be considered by its individual components separately. Many people selling gear will inflate their asking price above the value of the individual components because they are selling a complete rig - don't fall for it.. A 16 or 14 year old sweethog container has very little value left in it, meaning that if you tried to sell the container by itself you might only be able to get $100 or less (and it might take a long time to find a buyer, even if it is in really good condition). The simple reality is that very few will buy such a container. That doesn't mean it isn't safe or that it isn't worth buying, but the real market value of the container is almost nothing. Don't let the desire to get something quickly make you pay more than it is worth, It may well be a very good deal, you get a complete rig for the price of the main and reserve. You can get another container at any time in the future. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 8. You must make sure of what generation sweethog you're talking about. They go way back to when dinosaurs roamed the earth. 9. A rather opaque post. If prices will not be governed by supply and demand, how will prices be determined? There is a barrier -- more of a low hurdle -- to entry in the form of FAA certification, but is there anything else that prevents there being a free market? What prevents an East Coast rigger from going to the L.A. area and getting rich by charging $50 for a $35 pack job and undercutting those eeeevil price gougers who are getting $75 from willing customers? Or is the barrier the shame that East Coast riggers feel about asking a price that might compensate them for their time and allow them to pursue rigging as a profession? What experience of other countries might predict what will happen? Mark I did not mean anything at all like what you have said. By there not being such a free market for the services, I mean that some DZs have on site rigging lofts and require rigging work done on the DZ to be done through their loft. It is not as convenient to use off-site riggers. Also, I vaguely remember reading on this forum that some off-site riggers face pressure to charge the same as the on-site loft. I don't mean to exaggerate my contention, just that there are some things that make it not such a free market, that is all. Post #31 mentioned how the rate went up in the US in 1978 when the repack cycle was changed. I had thought that another user had posted a similar increase in prices for another country when they changed, but I now realize that there was just the one post about the '78 experience. I would think that there have been other countries that that have recently (within the last 10-20 years) lengthened the cycle that could provide some experience that might predict what will happen here more accurately than looking at supply-demand curves from an economics textbook. 10. The question of whether prices will go up is not going to be governed by the ordinary forces of supply and demand. I think this because in general it is not such a free market for the services. Perhaps the experience of other countries offers the best way to predict what will happen. 11. I can attest to the fact that you wouldn't want to drive final part of the road to the Hualupai hilltop. The Grand Canyon Caverns, however, are very cool, and are on the way - accessible from a paved road. 12. This is just a taste of what Havasu is about, this is not the Colorado River, it is a spring-fed creek with a lot of dissolved minerals that cause the cascading pools to form. I will be back there again, someday with my sons. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. 13. Isn't the walkway at Hualupai point, where you start the hike down to the Havasupai campgrounds? The view from that point is really not so great. I've been down to Havasupai 3 times, for 13 days total at the bottom. It is the best experience I've ever had backpacking. The dirt road is a great example of a washboard road that will destroy a vehicle. 19. I would think that it is not an issue of what can be done. Perhaps it is an issue of being such a time consuming, expensive pain in the ass thing to do that likely nobody would want it done at that price. 21. The fact is that prostitution is legal in some counties in US (for example, in Sin City in Nevada). Therefore the claim that prostitution is illegal in US is invalid, as Nevada is part of US. AFAIK prostitution is not subject of federal laws, but to state, or (in case of Nevada) local county laws. This is very generic statement, which is not true in most cases. Generally only a small percentage of the population actually likes to work - and even less people are happy with what they do. Most people work because they just have to, and my local cashier in Safeway is a typical "victim" as well - just doing different kind of work. IMHO some "crimes" should be decriminalized no matter whether some people of the government are doing it or not. This is not a reason, obviously. The main reason is that I see no really justified objections for that, and the only I've heard so far are based on "moral values", or other stuff like Jesus and the Bible, which basically has no real value. You remind us again that it is legal in a small part of Nevada (although not in Las Vegas), but does their experience with legalization support an argument that it should be legalized elsewhere? Perhaps it does, but just stating the well known fact that it is legal in a small part of Nevada does not accomplish that. You clearly implied that the criminal act of soliciting prostitution by those in government supports the case for legalization. I agree with your conclusion, as you now say, that it doesn't. There are many acts that are illegal based on moral values that I think you would support. Does an atheist have no values or standards that are at least in effect 'moral values'? The idea that prostitution should be legalized is, I think, based on the assertion that it is a victimless crime. I contend that it is not. An analogy to workers at Safeway is a really, terribly, crappy analogy. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  22. You seem to pretend to not see the clear implication that was not explicitly written, but I think you can read between the lines better than that. He was strongly implying the conclusion that because it still happens despite being illegal, that it should be decriminalized. Obviously I was trying to get him to be more direct and acknowledge if this was in fact his intention. That argument can be applied to any illegal activity, therefore I conclude it has no value. My point is that a discussion of whether prostitution should be legalized should not use that as an argument in its favor. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
  23. The illegal immigrants don't need to be rounded up and deported. Whatever it takes so that it is very risky, and very difficult for employers to hire illegals is the way to handle it. The illegals will largely have to leave on their own, without costing nearly so much as other changes that would not be as effective. This would probably require a new form of national identification. To argue that keeping the price of services and products low is a reason to allow illegals to continue working is to advocate for a permanent, victimized underclass. 24. This assumes that prostitution is illegal in US. This is not correct; it is just not legal everywhere. But it is not illegal in US. And I see nothing wrong with "prostitution legalization" (decriminalization, actually) either. As you could see, making it "illegal" does not help; if the people who're publically committed to maintain "high morals" are guilty in that, what should we expect from average Joe, who hasn't committed to anything? Are you saying that because prostitution still happens despite it being illegal, it therefore should not be illegal? Has making any crime illegal prevented it from still occurring? To pretend that prostitution is unique in this regard is not right. A very small segment of prostitution might be correctly called 'victimless'. Most of it is not. Of course some of the people in our government commit crimes, despite publicly committing to not doing so. Does that mean all of those crimes should be decriminalized? I think not. Your logic doesn't work. A discussion of decriminalizing certain activities is worth having, but not for the reasons you suggest. 25. Super Otters carry 23, even when they went to high altitude for the last world record done at Eloy they held 23. I've been on CASA loads of 33.
