I have flown out of DIA a number of times this year and have had no problems. I've checked the rig and I've also done the carry on thing. It's all in how you present yourself. When I travel with my rig, I don't carry it in a gear bag, I put it in one of those smaller suitcases with wheels. Makes it easier to get around the airport and doesn't draw as much attention. When I check my gear, the gear is in the same small suitcase and after I get my boarding pass I ask the person working behind the counter if after they have sent the suitcase through the x-ray, could I please put a lock on it. I've never had someone say no. Also, curb side check in is less hassle with checking the rig, but don't forget to tip the guy. I'm confused as to why, when there is a post about travel with a rig, most times the jumper states what airline they are traveling with. I always wondered this, because when I've gone through security they aren't asking what airline I'm traveling on. I guess it depends on what kind of helmet you have and what size suitcase. If I travel with my bigger suitcase, I just put my Factory Diver in that and pack things around it. If I'm traveling with a smaller suitcase, I have a bag for the Factory Diver, that I just carry on the plane with me.
