  1. nope - he's the one that shot, and he's the one that chose it ok..that's tongue in cheek, he did contribute or encourage (but he's still 0% responsible for that death), but, do you give that example as a justification for government to control speech? or is it just to add another in a long list of things for people to be judgmental of others for - now it's their words. ((yes, I do have a hard time with 'accessory to the crime' laws - again, it's an indirect set of laws that don't address the real action - it's lazy legislation)) ... 6. this is what you think the military does then? so no surprise in your positions then and you claim movies indoctrinate you and you need to be skeptical of that - but you don't see the brainwashing coming from the other side your attitude is a cliche, wrapped in a stereotype ... 7. [replyDid I miss something? I only see one first hand account in this thread. Your response said "those of us who were spit on." To me, that implies you were not personally spat on. Forgive me for reading between the lines, but my reading skills are poor as you pointed out lol. Let's see - "I see one first hand account in this thread" ok - that pretty much fixes your issue that there is "not a single documented case" So let's now change the argument to "everyone" has to be spit on before it's just wrong or real? Or before a vet is allowed to sympathize or consider himself associated with those that were or include himself in the group of people that came home from war. Your indoctrination is complete - your professor can teach you no further. ... 8. So this is symptom of what's really broken then isn't it? "Felony" is a pretty good criteria for denial of rights. "But I, personally, don't think -some- felonies are that bad" This line of thought leads to WAY too many laws that try to work around the broken bits. 1 - make the law - Felony,,,you don't get guns 2 - fix the definition of felony if you don't like the results - but don't write an incredibly nuanced and subjective plethora of laws that are designed to 'get around' the concept in the first place IMO ... 9. ok - you won't acknowledge the basic point (that allowing different rights for 'some' is a problem), then I'll come at it from your direction. Government should be enforcing the law and restricting their involvement to the bare minimums. "honoring" people is a waste of government time - it's really none of their business getting into subjective items like that. ... 21. I thought the paraphrase was appropriate - on the one hand you claim he was biased and needed to be educated on the other, you note that he's a clear thinking individual that makes decisions based on people's statements and actions, not cosmetic nonsense it's interesting though which position you take clearly lines up with your politics (and I understand your humor, screw the others when they don't) ... 24. Let me paraphrase what you just wrote "Dad didn't admit he was racist, but I knew better. Clearly he's racist since he didn't agree with my politics" that's a nice PC liberal attitude there "Dad is clearly NOT sexist, because he had the same politics as me on this individual" that's a nice application as well "Oh and he didn't like McCain and he liked Hillary over Obama, and I approve of that position too" nothing add, it stands on its own of course, this is just SC discourse for the fun of it and my dad is tougher than your dad ...
