    Welcome back bro

No, but it will be when you are. So cheap and obvious - I expect more from you Will... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

    Welcome back bro

Roger that - gaylord jumpin' is back in the U of K "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  3. If I read the article right, that is exactly what will get them laid..... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

Thanks to the lord and praise his name. Etc. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  5. ....dammit, there's a joke in here somewhere.... Quickdraw, I think I have some of your stuff that Faber left behind - looks like a couple of dildos and some butt plugs. PM me your address so I can return them... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  6. ....which is why I only offered mine to people who PM'd or emailed me... But I do think its a good idea. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  7. Hey Vicki Mac has pretty much made the point well enough, but I'll add my £0.001 here too.... Mac did rant a little, but being "old school" Hinton he does have something of a right to mouth off. I came to Hinton much like you; 100ish jumps, not a huge amount of DZ experience (I'm assuming this from your experience level & time in the sport) and seemed to be welcomed. I made it my home for a few years, and although the social scene is pretty good, you soon come to realise (go to almost any US DZ to prove this) that the "regular" skydivers are not treated as customers - they are only tolerated as they provide entertainment for the tandem customers and make them feel like they are part of the skydiving scene for their £300+ day... Hinton is not a DZ for jumping; if you want a 2 to 4 jump day and some beers with good company in the evening its just fine. Three jumps a day to 11.5k is not good skydiving value in anyones language. Regards the Hinton BPA renewal requirement, I spoke to Geoff the previous weekend and from his point of view the new rule makes sense - unfortunately a lot of people didn't know about the rule and therefore they lost a good-weather weekend (and we know how rare they are) as a result. This is not a normal requirement and is specific to this DZ. At the risk of sounding preachy, give another 3+ plus years in the sport and a couple of trips to the US and I really think you will agree... Take care Ivan "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  8. I think its a yes - the fact that he hadn't made any BASE jumps is merely semantics and splitting hairs with regards to the criteria of the list - and as it is your list, Nick, you decide whether that is the issue here. He died during the access portion of a BASE jump (see Neil Q ) and therefore deserves to be added. ....but on the other hand; if his family don't want him included, that should decide the matter. 9. Resurrecting this thread as I only found out this weekend that Craig had put the video on the interweb.... I would love to take the praise Phree, but Lou is right - the only reason I didn't stay with her the whole time was because I thought: "Oh, she's out of this dive then, I'll go play with Dougal"... and then I saw that she seemed to really be in trouble and went back. The harder part was flying with her when her wings were cut away and she was arching... Scary stuff, especially as this wasn't her first spin and she never had trouble sorting it before. The next morning you could see that several of the capillaries in her eyelids had burst. Play safe out there.... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  10. One of the few posts I've read in its entirety in this thread. And I'm glad I did. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  11. ....and now I've read the thread, and that bastard Northern hippo has made the point far more eloquently then I.... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  12. I should add that I think the list should be presented rationally - it is a tool and not a news report (and I think it mostly is). "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  13. A caveat first: I haven't read the whole thread and therefore I may be repeating someone here. But probably unlikely... I really don't think the issue here is the list, but the current way the media works, and global communication.... We have an entirely sensationalist media and unfortunately this now has transferred to politics/government etc - just look at the UK news at the moment and Margaret. At the risk of sounding "preachy", this is something everyone should be fighting against, it is a cancer and undermines the fundamental aspect of being human: the ability to analyse and think rationally. Taking the list offline would just be pandering to this, effectively adjusting BASE values to the current media trend. BASE is not about this, and even if we are the only ones portraying ourselves honestly, so be it. I've been drinking - could you tell? "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  14. ....that's the nugget mate - keep working with that, it should really help minimising the potential risks. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  15. I think what your quote above is what you have to consider; there is a definite risk of injury (although many if not most injuries are due to pilot error/bad choices and not equipment failure). If you are already thinking that the injuries are aimless, then maybe it would be wiser not to put yourself in a position of risk. But on the upside, its one the best things I have ever done (and continue to do). BTW, I haven't seriously hurt myself skydiving in approx 1300 jumps, but have come pretty close and been lucky at times. I have managed to break myself doing other things though - its always an option, whatever you choose to do... Good luck with your decision "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  16. Yes, its a very happy by-product of this deployment method. Safety note: heavier jumpers should consider using Turkeys. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  17. Cool. May swing by for one..... although sounds like 'one' will be impossible with the advertised crowd "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  18. What time are people getting there? "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  19. Damn right; "HIIIIPPPPPO!!!??" ......where is that bugger when you need him? "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  20. Nice story JP, BUT...... I was at the PD tent when you got that T-Shirt, and I am thinking we need an honesty check here............ Your choice if I continue, but it will cost you
  21. Said with a straight face too And there was me trying to be subtle about it. Tut tut gentelemen (I include you in that, Dex) "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

  23. .....good job you kept his identity concealed, otherwise everyone would think the poor bastard is an old fat UK fart.... ....and boy am I glad I turned my phone off after that call I need to know the dates dude - long haul flights are cheaper if you book ahead I tried putting a short edit together using classical music; think it works OK, but not sure if it would work for a whole video. If I can get the permission of the jumpers concerned, I'll put it on skydiving movies... "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
  24. ....not sure that's true; more then 50% of the bridge fatalities were kit or packing problems. "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent

    BASE 10000 . . .

Hey, me too.... although not sure what is lucky about that (unless I'm missing something about BASE 420) - we share the day with Mr A Hitler "If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." David Brent
