  1. Wow, that will certainly be an interesting area. Last I heard, they had struggled in their democratic transition. What is the current situation and will it be safe? Good luck!
  2. This is interesting... I actually just jumped out at Perris for the first time last weekend, and found that nobody even discussed exit order until about 10k. Of course, being a still fairly inexperienced skydiver at a new DZ, I simply went with the flow. I thought that it might have been unique to my load, but perhaps should think otherwise?
  3. Wow, I just checked out the photos on their website and I must say - very cool! I wish I had jumped out there when I was in Venice! I was lucky enough to spend two weeks traveling Italy, and Venice was definitely one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to! Have a great time out there! J.
  4. I must agree as well! Skydive San Diego is definitely the place to be right now! Much cooler than Elisnore/Perris, much cheaper, consistent winds, and a great local vibe. However, I won't be able to get time off until perhaps Sept./Oct. Of course, The Mav is always welcome to stay at the Phattie J.'s!
  5. Anybody from da Diego wana car pool? PM me!
  6. Wow, Rosalyn is hot! Oh yea, cool video!
  7. Haha! Is it just me, or is that the most random thing ever!?
  8. What's up? Just wanted to let everyone know that MileHi will be tossin' the KingAir up on Monday, provided that there are enough fun jumpers. So regulators - mount up! J.

  10. This is exactly my approach! As a newbie, I don't have the experience to judge how I will react during a malfunction. For example, the sudden adrenaline rush may cause me to freeze and hinder my ability to react. Until then, I figured that I should have as much assistance in deploying the reserve as possible. Nevertheless, I am aware of the debate regarding RSLs, and I too have made an informed decision. Additionally, I understand that the mere presence of an RSL should be no substitute for proper training. (just my 2c
  11. At this point I'm fairly comfortable in my sit, however, continue to struggle with my forward momentum and tracking. Generally, I find myself more stable with my legs spread wide. However, in order to generate that forward movement is it necessary to bring my legs closer together? Additionally, I've also been ensuring that my pelvis is forward (thanx Steve!) and that I push my back into the wind. This seems to help quite a bit. Anyway, what do you guys think? Thanx!
  12. Yep! I'll be there! It's gonna be my first 'real' boogie, and I can't wait! I've saved up quite a bit of money this summer, and plan on blowing it as fast as possible!
  13. Me too! Does any have this video available yet?! I'm dying to see it!
  14. Generally, particularly with my skill level, I too prefer to open around 3k or higher. Certainly this requirement seems a bit unreasonable. I imagine someone out there can confirm? Thanx guys!
  15. Well, I can only chose one event to attend this year due to financial constraints. As such, which would you folks recommend for the biggest bang for 'ya buck? Ie., the most jumps possible? Birdwoman, I believe you told me that it doesn't get dark in Montana until super late in the evening, thus allowing me to jump more? Also, what are some other pluses/minuses between the two boogies? Thanx guys! J.
  16. The GravityZone is mediocre, not quite the best DZ I've ever been to. The thing that got me while I was there was the weird vibes. Maybe it's just me, or maybe it was Vegas. I'm not sure. In their defense, I certainly had a great time while I was there, and Jason and Athena Dawson (DZOs) are super nice people! I believe the caravan only runs on the weekend via SDLV (interestingly, their neighbors). Also, the ditch that boarders the landing area is odd to say the least. Oh, make sure you don't smoke weed while you're there - the police are also neighbors (we had a couple of close calls!). Overall, it's a fun time - gambling, hookers, and skydiving - it's the life!
  17. Thanx everyone... It's funny, but I had actually taken my time to pack for this particular jump. Previously in the day, I 'trashed-packed' in a hurry to catch a load, but the deployment was smooth. Anyway, the slider was properly packed. However, I believe that my concern lies within the stows. Generally, I try to keep my stows, overall, the width of the bag (is this known as "bites" referred to in the forum?). I had been told that excessive stow length might catch causing a malfunction (any truth to this?). Still, longer is better than shorter. Ultimately, my deployment was smooth and stable. But hot-damn, it hurt!
  18. Hello all, Had a really hard opening yesterday that knocked the wind out of me! I threw out the pilot chute and for a moment nothing happened. I started to say to myself, "ok.....?" - then BANG!, I was under canopy. Immediately after regaining my composure I checked for canopy damage, however, none was visible. Upon repacking I found that my reserve risers had been slightly pulled out and the reserve pilot chute was visible, thus requiring a repack. (I have a Wings container, by the way) One of the packers thought that it probably was due to a "line dump" - lines not stowed efficiently resulting in all lines releasing at once. He thought that this might also explain the sudden deployment that I experienced. Anyone else have ideas? Possibly a packing error that I might avoid? Thanx for your time everyone! J.
  19. Definitely get one! Great quality at a fantastic price! Since I got mine, I've received a lot of positive comments around the DZ. J.
  20. Dude, you're gona love it! Tis' a fine suit indeed! J.

I have to agree with Spy38W, I just got my own Kurupee suit this past weekend and its super cool! Also, really great prices! Check out the discussion in the Gear and Rigging forum (see Cheap Jumpsuits?) because I believe I posted fabric styles that Blas sent me. Also, I believe someone also posted one of their suits received from Kurupee. Good luck, J.
  22. I just got my suit from Kurupee. It took exactly three weeks as Blas said. To be honest, it's better than what I expected! Truly a quality suit at an unbelievable price... highly recommended. I'll try to post pics sometime this week. J.
  23. That's interesting! This weekend I made my first attempts at sit, and by the second jump I thought I had it (of course, very sloppy!). However, from what I've read and heard, I understand it takes quite a few jumps to actually sit. So on my third jump I took a FF buddy of mine along to see what I was really doing. He had us do a "leg-lock" exit which was super fun! After we seperated, I made a few attempts to get into a sit position (so far, actually getting into the sit is the tough part for me. I found it fairly easy to enter into the position while on my butt). Once I got into what I thought was a sit, I held it while he evaluated. When we got down he said I did fairly well. Although I was tracking forward quite a bit. Anyway, my first attempts were a blast! However, is this common for some people - to somewhat sit on their first few attempts? J.
  24. Heh guys, Blas just sent me a photo of the special fabrics. Just in case anyone is interested! (I hope it shows on this forum post. If you can't see it, I'd be more than happy to send it to you via email) J.
