  1. okay where to begin. I went to the DZ not expecting to do more than one jump. since I didnt really want to do solo i asked around and found someone to jump with. Did a fun 2 way. A three way which funneled but was still fun (jumping is always fun). Then for number Fifty I was the base for a Five way, which turned 6 points. Needless to say I had to get some beer after all this. All in all not a bad 50th jump.
  2. Wow, not only was that a quick response, thats one of the posters I wanted too. Thanks Dave Dan
  3. Anyone know where I can find some cool skydiving related posters. My Walls are looking bare and I've already picked trough my parachutist mags. Any Ideas? Thanks Dan
  4. After a long 9 months of no jumping (stupid military wanting to deploy me) I finally made it back into the air and it feels Great!!! Just thought I would share...
  5. So there I was just driving along while on vacation. I come to stop at a red light. Now I normally drive a stick so I can take my foot off of the break pedel, however on this day I was driving an automatic... With out thinking about it I took my foot off of the break and CRUNCH! as I rolled into the truck in front me. it being a truck had no damage but the car I was in looked really bad.... There goes my skydiving money for the next couple of months...
  6. Does anyone know a Shawn Combs from Louisiana? I recently agreed to buy a jumpsuit from him and then he just kinda disappeared... Just trying to track him down now...
  7. Yeah I'm definatly getting a coach... Mike Ortiz runs a schol out of where I normally jump, Ill probably do a couple coach jumps with him. But Im getting ready to head home on leave wich will put me jumping at Skydive Spaceland. would anyone be willing to jump with a newbie who's discovered the fun a FF? or can anyone at least recomend a good FF coach out of Spaceland?
  8. I finally did it... at jump 44 I did my first sit fly, or something kinda resembeling a sit fly. It Was by far the most fun I've had in the sky since my first jump! I'm Hooked, RW seems so boreing comepared to it, can't wait to get up there and play around with some more Free Flying...
  9. Thanks for all the advice guys... Its been helpful. Dan
  10. So I should wait a while to start filming other people... but what about taking a camera up on one of my solos. just to get used to the way that feels? I could get some great shots of the lake I suppose...
  11. Hey all, I was just wondering, Is it ever too soon to start jumping with a camera. I myself don't have that many jumps, but am very interested in Camera Flying. Is it too soon to Strap a camera on just to get used to how it flys or how it feels... Obviously I'm a long ways away from being a video flyer for tandem students and that sort of thing... I just mainly want to film when i jump with my friends and maybe film some solos (I jump over some great scenery). Any thoughts? Thanks Dan
  12. Thanks for the input everybody. I realize that i list home in Houston Tx but i list Skydive San Diego as my home dropzone. the reason for that is im in the Navy and im stationed in SD but Texas is my home. I've made a couple jumps at Skydive Spaceland, but I've done the majority of my jumps in San Diego. Anyway next time I'm out there ill ask around and see if I can start the down sizing process. Dan
  13. Hey all, Im new to skydiving just got my A the other day. I am thinking about downsizing my Canopy. Since My exit weight is 200 -205 i was looking at mabey getting a 210 as my first rig. My question what would be the advantages and disadvantegs of a 7 cell vs a 9 cell? and mabey if i could get any recomendations on what type of canopy to look at. thanks Dan
  14. Hey everyone, I'm fairly new to skydiving, I just got my A a few days ago. The instructors say they think its time to down size my canopy, I'm useing a student rig which is a 288. I ve been told the next step is to get me on a 260, wich I hope to do in the next few weekends. My exit weight is about 200 - 205 lbs so i would like to get down to mabey a 210. Possibly even buy one about that size as my first rig. I've been told by some that I need to look for a nine cell where as others have recommended a 7 cell. I was wondering what the advantages and disadvantages of each would be? I would like any input and recommendations yall may have. Dan
