  1. STRANGE - your avatar name is one I am VERY familiar with - and old friend of Duane's. What are your origins - Washington state and of indian descent? Well, I certainly didn't see that coming!! 2. Bruce, you forgot one: "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  3. Maybe instead of going to the FBI we could convince the History/Discovery channel into having a Cooper Bowl. give each candidate X amount of dollars to fund the research and then go in front of an FBI agent pleading there case. the winner gets to go to Seattle and present all of the facts about who Cooper is/was? Plausible if you look what's on television these days..... Plausible, for sure. My money would be on candidate, "other".... "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  4. Blevins, you're an idiot. I can't believe you actually thought the Broncos would score 27!!! Just kidding, man. That would make us both idiots, I had the exact same score picked. I think that was the most dominating performance I have ever seen in a Super Bowl. Congrats, it's been a long time coming for your guys. So, now back to Cooper.....anything new? "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  5. I hate Super Bowl Sunday, it's too depressing as a Dallas Cowboys fan. I'd be willing to bet that the Cooper case gets solved before my Cowboys or Cincy Reds ever sniff another championship. I'm one of the few Vol fans pulling against Peyton. My pick is the same as Blevins, 31-27 Seahawks. My pick for Cooper is not the same as Blevins. 6. Not Cooper related, but this is one lucky girl. http://nypost.com/2014/01/28/texas-teen-survives-3000-foot-skydiving-mishap/ "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. 7. Well, damn! So much for getting on Paul's "Cowards List" now. I really wanted to make it on to that list. "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  8. The bundles certainly didn't get there individually. But the whole bag of cash could have got there and then the bundles become separated from the rest of the money. 9. If I didn't say it before, welcome to the forum. The problem with the money being a plant by Cooper is... what's the purpose to plant something that might or might not ever be found? And why plant it there? For all intents and purposes you have gotten away with a crime. Why draw any attention to the crime or yourself? Stay as far under the radar as you can. And if you are going to plant the money - why plant it there? Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to plant it somewhere along the assumed flight path? It would be in a place where it might be expected to be - essentially erasing the question as to whether it was planted or not -- and by extension that he must have survived in order to plant it. Wouldn't it be a lot better to reinforce their suspicion that you are dead? The only rationale that I can think of for this is that the hijacker wanted to taunt the FBI with you-can't-catch-me. But then the location still doesn't make sense. Why take the chance that no one would ever dig in that exact spot? There are so many better ways to drop the money where you would know it would be found if that was the objective. The only other plant story that makes sense to me is if the adult Ingrams got possession of the money somehow and they wanted to be able to turn it in and get the value of the money or a reward without revealing the real way they came about having the money. Now that one I have to admit I've wondered about. You beat me to the punch on this. A plant only works if the money is found. So, anyone who thinks the money was a plant, has to ask their selves, "was finding the money planned as well?". Now, we are getting into Grey Cop territory and that is not a good place to be. I think the idea of a plant is ludicrous, at best. "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. 10. Not unless Duane Weber was a suspect! I know this was an attempt at humor, but I think you may be on to something. Consider what Jo said on an earlier post: "1968 to 1972 - Weber was a free lance insurance agent and with little income and odd jobs. You guys who punch a clock do NOT understand the nature of sales. Sales positions in on yr he made less than $1000 - what the hell was he doing. These are the times the prior wife - admitted he would disappear for long periods of time - she did NOT know where he was." Now, I may be wrong, but any man slick enough to hijack an airplane and disguise himself by crazy gluing his ears down, have his fingerprints changed - while in prison, be the man on the ground while at the same time be 10,000 feet above the ground, and then shut down an entire power grid with a wrist watch...any man that can do all of that surely can put on a hood and take out a few people. He is after all, unaccounted for in the time period that the Zodiac was hard at work. And if we need even more proof, look at the sketch. Hmmmm. Nice work, detective. "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  11. Is there an Dropzone equivalent for the Zodiac Killer case? I'm interested in that one as well, and also Jack the Ripper. But, I've read far more and have much greater interest in Ol' Dan Cooper. Thanks. "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  12. Robert, I see no problem with this. He says he won't be able to ID the chute he gave them, "without the container or harness". But, once he knows its silk, he doesn't need the container or harness to know that is not the chute Cooper used. My Super Bowl pick: Seattle over New England. My Cowboys continue to suck, but my Vols will be back in 2015. I'm more of a college fan from here on out. "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  13. Dan Gryder (Dangerous Dan on DZ) put out a video on YouTube in Nov of 2011 I believe. He said in his video that he would tell everyone who Cooper was in 2012. Of course, 2012 came and went without anything new from Gryder. He would occasionally respond to comments on his video, but I can't seem to find the video on YouTube any longer. I always thought his suspect was McCoy, though he never confirmed this. If I can find his video, I'll ask him if he ever plans on spilling the beans. I don't think McCoy was Cooper. His was too close to Coopers hijacking and I think he would have been positively ID'd by witnesses that saw Cooper. But I will say this about McCoy: We know he could do the jump, we know he had the motive and most importantly, we know he had the balls to do it. We don't know these three things about any of the other suspects. "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  14. I concur, GO AUBURN!!! "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  15. Hey Paul, can I get on this cowards list also? I think I'm qualified, I'm scared of the dark and I think your story is all BS. Thanks "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  16. Like R99, I think your theory involving the dump is completely valid. I think it's a low probability theory but it is a possibility. I don't know any 'markers' in the money that would connect with a dump specifically, or the slough specifically, but this is in the early phase and I rather think people are pondering the issue. As far as this forum is concerned - its the best thing that has come up here in a long time ... and it's REFRESHING to have! Congrats! might have to expand the search area.. "According to Speirs, the entire business woke the rest of Portlanders up to the mess that was happening in St. Johns (he claims that garbage trucks came from as far as Kalama, Washington, to creep into the side-streets like North Taft to illegally dump their loads) and the resulting furor eventually resulted in closing the landfill." The landfill was covered with dredged sand, but in the 70's it was a full open landfill with the Columbia Slough completely surrounding it. map http://binged.it/1cGHSOL .. I think this is very interesting. Always glad to have another avenue of discussion open up. I was beginning to think this forum was beyond hope. Farflung brought up a similar idea - though if memory serves he was referring to the massive amounts of development going on on some of the islands. Just curious though - why are you centering your theory around a house being demolished? Lot's of things get thrown out or forgotten and end up in in land fills - suitcases, old coats, old appliances, bags of clothes, boxes of miscellaneous random stuff, yes, even money.
  17. Nice post and nice review of the book. I have a question for you, that I'm sure has been covered many time in the forum, but I will ask anyway. At 10,000 feet, how much time did Cooper have to deploy his chute? "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  18. Sorry...I've just gotta say (and I'm not singling anyone out)...I've been following the thread for three years. I don't post for two reasons: 1. I don't have anything substantive to offer in the way of new info and/or leads. 2. This forum truly has devolved into childish bickering and in-fighting. I, for one, am sick of it. Can you guys please stop bashing each other and return to a dialog more centrally focused on solving this thing, once-and-for-all? Us non-posters would appreciate it, and might even have something to contribute. Many thanks. PS there is more "genuine interest" than you expect. exactly, I was thinking of posting a similar comment with one exception,, I have an extremely strong NEW theory and "suspect" that I have been vetting for a few years now, right down to a match for particles on the tie, but the childish and toxic environment here ends any thought of a serious discussion.. The best way to rid the forum of the childish behavior is to start a serious discussion. By all means, present your theory. I would love to hear it. 19. The Drowning Man A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help. Soon a man in a rowboat came by and the fellow shouted to the man on the roof, "Jump in, I can save you." The stranded fellow shouted back, "No, it's OK, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me." So the rowboat went on. Then a motorboat came by. "The fellow in the motorboat shouted, "Jump in, I can save you." To this the stranded man said, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith." So the motorboat went on. Then a helicopter came by and the pilot shouted down, "Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety." To this the stranded man again replied, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith." So the helicopter reluctantly flew away. Soon the water rose above the rooftop and the man drowned. He went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to discuss this whole situation with God, at which point he exclaimed, "I had faith in you but you didn't save me, you let me drown. I don't understand why!" To this God replied, "I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?" "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. 20. Thank for showing that he pined me in the corner. This man has no class but thats how he was raised. Your dad must be proud of you. You know that little dingy on the back of that million dollar yacht. I can afford the yacht but maybe the little dingy. I'll all call it THE SS VICKI. The true rescue bout. HA HA HA DB COOPER thanks for helping me get $1500 dollars Vicki. Your the coolest. I see you walk out of there with about $600 free dollars in your purse. Or maybe more. Once again $1500 thats more than my book sales I'm sure but M B wont understand how but thats just him. He loves that foot in mouth think but thats just him. Paul Geivett PS 50 not 40 didn't you see me with out my hat on that big bald head. If you have a photo please show her I don't what to let her down. $ 2100 dollars. GC 148 THE GRAY COP I don't know what you paid your editor, but I'm sure it wasn't enough. "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. 21. Georger, I wonder if I could phrase this a little differently, and you can tell me if I'm still saying what you're saying -- since none of these people will see themselves in what you're saying. Just like a case where the police "knows" the identity of a murderer, but needs the evidence to prove it, they will look favorably at evidence that promotes their suspect and skeptically and the evidence that doesn't. Almost everyone with a preferred suspect in the Cooper case -- either because of a confession, a story relayed or some bit of evidence feels they "know" the identity of DB Cooper. Therefore, a physically description that doesn't match could not possibly be right, so we have to reinterpret it match the "truth". Each of those people doesn't feel like they're twisting the evidence at all. They feel the others with a preferred suspect are twisting the facts, because, of course, those other people are wrong. And, you're right...Anyone who is starting at the position that they "know" the identity of DB Cooper is a distraction because they are by definition taking a slanted view of the evidence. Am I at all close to stating your position, or am I still missing something? And if someone "knows" that their guy is the one, then what's the harm in even totally fabricating something to get people to believe? After all, they are right. The end justifies the means, right? I'm afraid there are those that feel this way. "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. But later that night, they were shining those lights back down on that mountain again." - Todd Snider
  22. 377 Here is a picture of Jack Collins. Looks similar to the sketch....he must be the one!!! You can read the first few pages of the book here http://www.scribd.com/mobile/doc/185096476 Reply: I just spoke with Robin Collins, Bradley's wife. She's not a kook! Whew - and she described what sounds like a very deliberate and sound approach to an important family story. Bradley was out, but I expect to talk with him soon. Their book is due out Friday for public distribution in print form. Their pub was some outfit in the UK. Robin and Bradley may be coming to the shin-dig Friday at the WSHM. Robin also told me that she and Brad had been at the Cooper exhibit's opening day and spoke with Tom Kaye. Robin also said that she is a big time reader of the Mountain News! I love her already, although not as much as Mooshie, of course, but 377 knows that and understands. He understands so much.... So Bruce, in your professional opinion, is there anything to this? Yes, no, maybe? Blevins, I enjoyed you brushes with greatness, but I got you beat. I once got to sing on stage with my favorite singer John Mellencamp (there is two things I can't do and singing is both of them). I also met and partied with the man who bought my favorite football team, had some good years with them, and then destroyed them...Jerry Jones. Bruce, I think I will hold off reading your book until after you go back and edit to include this Collins fellow, lol. "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in. 24. It's 11-25-13 and this case is no closer to being solved than it was the day it happened. Your guy wasn't the guy. You can play loose with the established facts of this case all you want, but at the end of the day you haven't solved anything. 25. All I did was go back to the BASICS what I knew about Weber and the things he said and then what I have learned. What I told the FBI and the other parties I contacted last night will support the case of Cooper acting alone or with ONE other person. Yes, there was some aid after the crime - but those individuals were NOT active participants, but stayed quiet fearing implications. Do I know for sure he didn't have help? NO! It is reasonable he may have had help, but I did not make that part of what I shared. That will be for others to draw their own conclusion and not something disclosed by Cooper. I have given the FBI 17 yrs and NOW I will tell what I know. None of what I stated in that long email last night is any part of a conspiracy theory because - it goes back to the very basics of what Duane told me and what I learned. Because of Duane's past associations - if the FBI had any clue who Cooper was - they ignored it because it meant exposure of things the FBI nor the federal government wanted to be made public. I do NOT think the FBI and others figured it out until I came forward with Weber in 1996. They have known because of Weber's past there could be implications that might affect the out come and chose to pass him on by! So does what you told the FBI and other parties last night put Duane Weber in a parachute? "They were saying he was never gonna make it now, now that daylight had set in.
