  1. I have to confess that I watched the first three episodes. And...... I actually like the family. They're not likely to become rocket scientists, but they're funny, they're close to each other, and they seem to be generally happy. And the pet pig is cute.
  2. Now that I'm viewing "classic" in a different light: Headpins L.A. Guns Dangerous Toys
  3. OK, I officially feel old with Faster Pussycat (and some of the other bands you mentioned) being listed as "classic rock."
  4. Since this entire issue came up after Obama made his announcement that he now suppoerts gay marriage, it's fair to assume that there was a political motivation as I noted in my last post. To ignore that is to blind ones self to the actual reason this is suddenly an issue ie. Presidential politics. I believe, and sincerely hope, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are elected. I do not agree with everything they stand for including the rights of gays to form legal unions with all the benefits of hetro-couples. If they want to get married in a church with a pastor who is willing to perform the ceremoney, that's fine with me. I would not vote for or against anyone for President based on a single issue. What "entire issue"? The anti-Chick-fil-A thing? That's been going on for years. And if Obama's recent announcement brought gay marriage/gay rights into the spotlight, I don't really care if it was a political move. Despite whatever his past says, I see it as a step in the right direction. And it's a step that the GOP will likely eventually take, but for now they are behind in that area. I don't vote on a single issue either. But this is a big issue to me, and one I will certainly consider among many others.
  5. Why do you keep bringing up Obama in here? Did I miss where Dan Cathy put in a bid to run for POTUS? Or is Obama planning to start a fried chicken chain? If gay rights is an important issue to me, can you suggest the best Presidential candidate (who actually has a chance of winning)? Would it be Mitt Romney?
  6. Academic discussion here, but curious about something. Have you ever gotten a professional massage? A person, touches your body with their body, for your pleasure in exchange for money. What makes prostitution different? Why is touching you here for money different/immoral than touching you there for money? Since you asked this question, I keep thinking about the Jules/Vincent "foot massage" scene. On the non-professional side of things, if some guy offered me a massage, I probably wouldn't think he was offering it for the medical value. (Heck, even on the professional side of things, I got pretty creeped out by one guy I went to for a massage, and never went back to him.) And I'm sure that not everyone who goes for a professional massage is going for the medical value. Anyhow, it seems that the topic of sex stirs a lot more emotion than the topic of massage. It's one of the most powerful human desires, making it difficult to think (or behave?) rationally about it.
  7. October 11, Kentucky. I am looking forward to this too, but probably not for the right reason. Perv. I'm already fantasizing about what color of tie each of them will wear.
  8. They warned us about the slippery slope, and we just chose to ignore them... Tangerines and bananas??? See, they can't even talk about breakfast without making something dirty out of it.
  9. October 11, Kentucky. I am looking forward to this too, but probably not for the right reason.
  10. When I saw this thread title, I knew it had to be about Honey Boo Boo. I saw an ad for that show the other day, and I was also wondering about it being on "The Learning Channel."
  11. Just curious, how much were you taking? I have somewhat different issues than you, but I have found therapy (individual and group) to be helpful in the past. Of course, it largely depends on finding the right therapist for you. I've also had a lot of help from various self-help books, and I've turned into a junkie for relaxation/visualization CDs. I hope you are able to find something that will help you to change.
  12. You can ask, but that's not a service that I'm offering for sale. And if I was, I would likely refuse service to someone who wasn't treating me respectfully.
  13. easy to say if you have no morals. I have morals, and it was still easy for me to say. Obviously you and I disagree on whether certain things are moral/immoral, but I don't see that as a reason to suggest that you have no morals.
  14. I don't recall what I thought of prostitution at a very young age. But as an adult, I see nothing immoral about a reasonably sane adult choosing to provide a service and another adult choosing to pay for that service. (I mean, yeah, there are some immoral things that could go along with this, but I don't see the basic idea/act as being immoral.) Just my opinion, of course.
  15. I think most people go to prostitutes for sex, not for love.
  16. Yes, many times. I don't see much difference, technically. I'm not sure why a lot of people think prostitution is immoral, but it seems that, for whatever reason, most people do.
  17. I think most people would agree with you that it's immoral. And, while I don't agree, I was just curious about your personal reasons. Not looking for an argument or anything....
  18. One more question.... Why do you personally feel that prostitution is immoral? (Assuming business between consenting adults.)
  19. Who are "they"? And when, exactly, is this time you are referring to?
  20. I think prostitution (between consenting adults) should be legal because I don't see any good reason for it to be illegal. There are going to be problems with it whether it's legal or not, but that's true of almost anything. I think laws should generally be about not inflicting harm on others; I don't like most laws that only protect me from myself.
  21. we have that problem now, with illegal prostitution. Maybe if prostitution were legalized, it would be easier to openly confront those problems. I see it increasing in such a situation. The pimp (massage parlor owner) no longer has to waste any effort on hiding the prostitution, can focus all energy on the slavery aspect. I think if prostitution was legal, it would be a lot easier to find out if someone is being forced to work against her will. For one thing, I think a lot of "enslaved" women are afraid to seek help from law enforcement because they are doing something illegal, even if it is not by choice. Also, the law enforcement effort that is being wasted right now on preventing consenting adults from participating in prostitution, this effort could be used instead to help people who actually need help.
  22. Not worried about anything. I simply said that I would vote for someone whose values (I believe) are closer to mine. I'm guessing that is true for most people. I guess that means you won't be voting for anyone then?
  23. I didn't say anything about a President changing abortion laws.
  24. You know, there are a lot of things I like about Romney and Ryan, and the Republican party in general. But unless they change their stance on abortion and civil rights in general, I'm just not likely to vote for them. Maybe if I was convinced they could fix the economy and the healthcare system, but I don't have much confidence in any of the candidates being able to fix those two big issues. So for now, I'm likely to keep voting for those whose values are closest to mine on social issues.
  25. Oh, and one more classic that Pandora just played that I love: Atlanta Rhythm Section's "So Into You"
