  1. I just have to say... that much pink in the air looks really cool ;-) Ok, well that description doesn't even begin to do it justice... but I can't really come up with the words to describe the beautiful vibe that was going on at Perris today... and seeing such a beautiful group of women joined together as one... Right on! Oh yeah... and I don't think I've ever seen Ms. Skybytch's face so lit up... pretty cool, Lisa :-) BSB&D ;-) Keely When in doubt, go BIG!
  2. Hey skeletor, You should post a picture of that lovely leg of yours... Not only should you not jump without insurance, you also shouldn't jump without a brain Just kidding dear ;-)
  3. Oh I'm sorry... since I only ever see you at work, I was not aware of this "nice guy" side of you ;-) Besides, nice guys don't hate people ;-)
  4. Hmmm... well first of all, you have to decide whether or not your really are a nice guy. If you are hanging out with a chick mostly because you're hoping to get laid, then that doesn't really make you a nice guy, IMHO, and if you end up not getting any - well tough luck - join the millions of other horny dudes who are not getting any at this moment... If you're actually looking for someone to spend your life with, then you should just be yourself, nice or not, and the right person will eventually come along and will recognize you for who you are. I personally tend to date the more assholish types when I'm looking to stay single for a while, but only those who are openly assholish ;-) So that I don't have to worry about too many "feelings" getting involved. But if I find someone who I actually want to have a relationship with, it is someone who is honest with me and who treats me like I expect to be treated - someone who I would consider to be a "nice guy". So if your definition of finishing last is "not getting laid as much as the next dude" then yes, nice guys probably do finish last. But if that is your definition, then you're not really a nice guy anyway so don't worry about it ;-) Anyhow, sorry you had a bad day dude... Hope it's all better now :)
  5. Right on, Lisa! Live it up, chick You deserve it...

    Happy Hour

Ok, well I'm stupid and too lazy to read any directions... How do you do the Happy Hour thing? I went to the Pub and didn't see any links... though according to the time I guess there's only four minutes to go anyway...
  7. Actually I think we don't all know this. There are LOTS of people who jump impaired, and I think most of them truly believe it does not affect their judgment or abilities - in fact I'm afraid some of them actually believe it enhances their abilities. Of course most people don't learn from others' mistakes, but there's a small chance that a factual post like this could make at least one person change their ways, and that might save at least one life...
  8. Buffalo Bills's Hotel looks like fun... though it's not actually in Vegas... But it has several cool-looking rides and reasonably priced rooms - and alcohol and gambling - what more could you ask for?
  9. I am also a light-weight... I have a Bomber freefly suit from Flitesuit - it is made from a single layer of ultralight material and is cut to fit pretty trim. Before I got this suit I was always floating on everyone - the suit made a HUGE difference. Of course learning to fly your body is more important than what you're wearing, but if you suck like I do then having the right suit really helps ;-) I'm very happy with my Flitesuit and would highly recommend one to other light jumpers - some of the other manufacturers use several layers for their designs which add a lot of drag (of course you could ask for a single-layer design from any of them).
  10. I wanna go!!! If it's in September I probably can't go cause I'll still be taking care of the Gimp... But I could probably go in November sometime... Hell, the Gimp might even be able to go by November! I've been wanting to try out that dz at Jean - it's been a long time since I've jumped out of a Cessna! And it's close to that roller coaster at Buffalo Bill's - I've always wanted to ride that thing too, though it looks more dangerous than skydiving! ;-) I have a coupon for a free night at the Tropicanna, but I don't think we could all stay in one room... They do at least have mirrors on the ceilings though ;-) The Stratosphere has pretty cheap rooms, and I've had good luck on the slot machines there - and the ride at the top is pretty sweet - not to mention the really HIGH view...
  11. Since I didn't like doing RW (let me rephrase that - since I had so much trouble doing RW that it just wasn't fun for me) I did a lot of solo jumps or 2-ways that involved trying all kinds of crazy positions - definitely tried the sit, stand, and headdown positions even though we had never heard of freeflying. Did some rodeo jumps and double cannonball exits and attempted Mr.Bill jumps - this was all back in 1991-92 - but basically if you weren't into RW back then there weren't too many people to jump with, so I eventually got bored (and ran out of money cause I was a broke kid) and quit jumping. Just started again a couple of years ago and was very happy to see that lots of people are freeflying now.
  12. One more thing... Michele, just wanted to point out that I am not trying to "attack" you or anything like that, and I realize that most of the things you say on this forum are very nice - I don't think you have meant to offend anyone, so hopefully you will take this as constructive criticism. You are an excellent writer and this makes your stories very believable, so I just wanted to point out the effects of saying anything negative about particular people or places. Congratulations again on the ESPN show - hope it turns out great! ;-)
  13. I just want to point out that Perris Valley Skydiving is one of the most professionally-run dropzones I have ever been to. And Jack Gramley plays a huge role in making it that way. I have seen Jack go out of his way countless times to help people out in situations that were "above and beyond the call of duty". In this case, it sounds like Jack devoted an unpaid day of his time and Perris allowed unpaid use of their facilities for this taping, which is something you should be HIGHLY appreciative of - so to tell this whole story and not even THANK them, much less make them sound like they kept your show from being everything you wanted it to be, is disrespectful and highly UNappreciative. I do congratulate you on your ESPN show - I'm sure that it was a great adventure for you... But when writing stories in a public forum like this, it is not really cool to name names such as Jack's (or several others I've seen you mention in the past) and show them in a bad light (no matter how briefly you mention them). Please do not forget that not only the person you mentioned, but many people who know that person may be reading this forum and may be offended by your remarks, or worse - might mistakenly believe that what you say about them is true. If you want to tell stories about your adventures, either ask permission from people whose names you want to use, or change the names, because remember these are YOUR stories based on YOUR perspective - not necessarily the way things "really" happened. Please be careful about slandering names on a public forum, unless that it what your intention really is(?). Sorry if this sounds mean - I just got a little upset to see Jack's name shown this way because I know it is not accurate.
  14. All of those canopies have pretty good reputations... but I believe that Icarus is phasing out the Omega to replace it with the new Omni 7-cell. The Sabre2 might have the best resale value though, because it seems to be one of the most popular canopies right now (IMHO). PD has a nice article about choosing canopies at: http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/choosing2.pdf
  15. I have one you can borrow... I don't think the old man and I will be needing it any time soon Have fun at the WFFC... Bytch! (Don't be surprised if Steve turns up missing while you're gone ;-)
