Norway 2009 Mountain Flying

Recommended Posts

Like I wrote on wingsuit news. Amazing cinematic edit/video.
I think there are few people who look beyond the typical 'acting out on the ground' and 'exit till deployment' style shots on videos. And often, even when they do its framed shoddy/shakey etc.

Great, great video! Love those long lens shots, following that prodigy over the landscape.
Nothing but compliments. This is the kind of stuff worth downloading/watching over and over!

Chapeau!

Here are the production details:
5D Mark II with 24mm f/1.4
CX 100 with Opteka .3x

Apple Shake to de-shake all the footage
(the 5D footage faired better in this step, i think because it is progressive)
Final Cut Pro to put it all together
Soundtrack Pro for the sound effects (no original sound)
Apple Color to grade the whole shebang
Apple Compressor for output

Great work.

Makes all those creatures called "f10ckers" think about hours and hours of freefall time spent looking at another mattress in front of their nose trying to fit their imaginary Grid.

I finally finished editing my 2009 trip to the three walleys of Norway, including the World Base Race and the world record 49-way jump

You can check out the finished product here:

Lots of great flights and super-cool people, I can't wait for next year

Wow! Brendan, awesome work! Really impressive. I love the part when Elizabeth picks the blackberry. Ed put it on Facebook before you did so I suggested you guys be friends. If you're going to Mesquite, there's a movie contest. Make sure you submit it. If you're not going, I can submit it for you to win you a prize. Keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing!

Very impressive.

The flailing guy at 4:30 was funny/scary. The guy at 6:12 I really thought was a bird for a second.

All those sounds effects... water/wind/birds... were those authentic from the shoot or just faked in? Very effective either way.

I noticed a weird "wobble" to the image in a few places. I wonder if this was from your de-shake process, or simply from the final encode (or even the Vimeo encode). I get weird things like that sometimes in x264 encodings.

All the sound was 'faked in' mostly because the sound from the cameras is so poor and I didn't have the time to run outside sound

The wobble was from the de-shaking process and is more noticeable in the CX-100 shots, I think because the footage is interlaced
