If you are a pilot... Did you stand up your first landing?

The subject pretty much says it all. Your first truly solo piloting job of your chute did you stand it up? What size shoot were you flying at the time?

More than half of my AFF students stand their first landing. It's not difficult, and it's not a goal you should shoot for.

Yes. I believe it was a Silhouette 260 loaded at .6 ish.

No. It was a 28ft flat circular canopy, though.

Nope... close, but had a little too much speed. Canopy was a 170. I had a radio, but the instructor didn't talk to me (he told me he wouldn't unless I messed up).

Nope, and it was a Navigator260. I didn't really worry too much about it. Good if you do, PLF if you don't.

I was a pilot and I didn't stand it up - but that was partly because we were jumping DC-5's. It was generally a mistake to try.

Yes, I think it was a manta 288 I'd have to check the log book. With about 40 jumps I won a inpromptu accuracy contest on a borrowed XL cloud that I had never jumped. Even a blind squrrel I guess go figure.

No. It was a PD 9 cell 190, before this jump I made 30 jumps with a T-10 round canopy so I felt I was going to fast to the ground and I decided to PLF.

No, but 230lbs. under a T-10 it was to be expected.

That's PLF Parachute Landing Fall ... as opposed to the commonly performed PFL, the Pisspoor Fucking Landing.

Come to think of it, I did stand it up my first jump, on a ParaCommander. It was a tippy-toe soft landing on Terra Firma ... after smashing through the tops of Elm and Poplar trees about 40 feet tall.

Yes, stood up my first, but think that was mostly luck and someone calling my flare via the radio. I found that being a pilot sometimes worked as a "disadvantage" on more than a couple occasions. ie. Ya can't fly a big ass pattern like in a plane or add power when you get into trouble....

If you're a , how well does those skills transfer over to skydiving? We get those questions all the time, no different than yours.

I'm not intentionally trying to, but I guess I've just worked myself into a frenzy about starting and I guess I was just looking to see what someone with a similar aviation background had experienced.

When you are going through your training you wear a radio so your instructor can talk to you when you are under canopy. The first couple of jumps they talk you through your flair.
