Not that he deserved death . . . but this guy Rayshard was no angel.

The usual progression:

Cops kill someone for no (or poor) reasons.

Right wingers start vilifying victim. "He was no choir boy!"  "He was no angel."  "The left wing claims he's a hero and he's NOT!"  "So a violent thug is dead - so what?  That's good news, not bad news."

They get called on being callous.

They get defensive and the usual "but Obama .  . . ." starts.

Seen on FB:

When a black man is killed by the cops, they tell us all the bad things he used to be.
When a white man rapes, they tell us all the great things he could become.

Yep.  Two very different sets of standards.

White "Stanford rapist Brock Turner has been spotted in public for the first time since his victim Chanel Miller revealed her identity four years after she was sexually assaulted.

The 24-year-old sex offender was photographed looking carefree and relaxed while leaving an Ohio convenience store on Thursday - one day after Miller revealed her face ahead of a tell-all interview set to air later this month.

The disgraced college swimmer, who was infamously handed a six-month jail sentence for raping the woman while she lay unconscious in 2015, is understood to have completed his probationary period this month. ...Turner ultimately served only three months behind bars"

From the ABA  "Another study in Dallas found that the median sentence for an African American man who raped a white woman was 19 years, whereas a white man who raped an African American woman received a 10-year sentence. Furthermore, African American defendants are subjected to a disproportionate number of wrongful convictions for rape.'

That's the best defense you can come up with?

Not my job to offer a defense for the racist thinking that because people have made mistakes they should be treated differently. or that somebody had something coming.

Why does there need to be any defense? No one claimed he was an angel, and it makes no difference to whether his killing was legal or just.

That's racist?

Considering prior bad acts is racist?

Or, in your thinking, is it that it's only racist when you consider the prior bad acts of any body BUT a white man?

Because - the act of singling out a race to determine your stance, is by definition, racist.

The fact that you put "Black man: Anything" and the "White man:Anything" is racist

Recognizing that generally black people are getting treated differently from white people is racist? Lol

Fighting racism is indeed going to be very difficult when this is the level of intelligence people bring to the table.

Like Morgan Freeman said - “STOP TALKING ABOUT IT”

The more you bring it up as an "Us vs Them" issue - the further you make the divide.

Your timing is so, so bad. Make progress by not talking about it? For the past few weeks the US has been going through the most widespread set of racism protests since the civil rights movement, one that has even spread internationally, and look what is happening because of it. Police forces, tactics and training methods are being reformed, Confederate statues are being torn down, military bases are being renamed, major league sports are apologising for their anthem protest stances, Nascar - freakin' Nascar - is banning Confederate flags...

All things that would have been practically unforseeable even last year, all happening now because a noise is being made on a scale that hasn't been heard for half a century. And your suggestion is just be quiet - progress gets made when no-one makes a fuss. Now that is a damn good joke.

I didn't say it is Us vs Them. I said there is a recognition that people of different races are being treated differently. Not talking about that fact is exactly what is causing unrest.

Morgan Freeman said that in 2005. It was his argument that we should all see ourselves as equal. Your demand that 15 years later black people continue to not talk about it, while over that same 15 years white people clearly have not treated black people as equal........is racist.

Except . . . no one listened to Mr. Freeman, for whatever reason, and it didn't have a chance to work.

Maybe they didn't hear about it - and how would they if the people listening were told not to talk about it?

Talk about his interview? - that makes sense if you want the status quo to continue.

Exactly. If you don't talk about it, the status quo continues. Could not have put it better myself.
