Density is most obviously a factor, but it's only one factor who's effect is dependent upon many others already mentioned in this thread. But in the other thread you posted an article that said the U.S, France, Belgium and the Netherlands were the ones that were rectifying the issue with underreporting and that it was the U.K that was still not counting nursing home deaths. (tho that article was from a few weeks ago) It originated in China so they had to deal with C-19 without any knowledge about it. They are a third rate country v the US. The US had a months warning. The US banned travelers before it got started stateside. But muffed EU transmissions trump doing Boris a favor.. Regardless of China lies. Today they are substantially open. Yet no reports suggest they have a higher mortality than the US.

BoJo in the UK delayed action, this combined with very high population density especially in southern England (more than half the UK population lives south of Birmingham). A lot of the evidence of whether things are happening is from external sources. Pollution from factories is evidence that they're operating; pollution from cities is evidence that they're running again. Aviation is running (my brother works in aviation, and said that there's all kinds of ancillary evidence). Whether or not everything is normal, or whether there are actually green unicorns all over China that they don't want us to know about, these are things that are observed from the outside. Sometimes that's how we can tell the WH is lying, too, because there's evidence to the contrary. Announcing something doesn't make it true, no matter how much you want to believe it, or who's doing the announcing. Wendy P.

BJ in the UK started off in the do nothing herd immunity direction, which allowed cases to spread faster. Just to be clear, I'm talking about the case fatality rate (deaths/diagnosed cases) vs the crude mortality rate. (deaths/population) And while density can affect both, it seems a higher CFR would speak more to possible deficiencies in the overall health of a population and/or the level of treatment they receive. There is great disparity in testing, and death reporting criteria. Deviation from expected death rates from previous years' 5-year averages may actually be more reliable - on average. Britain’s statisticians, by expanding its definition of covid-19 fatalities and analysing death certificates retrospectively, are reporting deaths as Covid related that many nations would not have reported. It's one thing to represent the sentiment and a different thing to be honestly be working for improving society and helping the middle class. Even if his agenda is to do so he has shown is not capable of delivering anything more than first the Paul Ryan agenda of tax cuts for the wealthy and then the Mitch McConnell agenda of molding the judiciary. The tariffs imposed on trading partners are completely ineffective at driving the change you are speaking of. Trump has managed to take over the base of the American right wing, but control of the levers of power remain more than ever in the hands of those who could not care less about the middle class. Note, of course the first quote is from Bigun. Edited May 10, 2020 by gowlerk

Likely because trump is the king of litigation. Either as a defendant, or as a fishing, intimidating or harassing plaintiff. Every time there would be disclosure of documents potentially damaging to all the parties involved. If they don't have really juicy material directly on trump. But embarrassing or damaging to trump Enterprises. trump would have cause to file an action for damages against the law firm for failing to protect those damaging disclosures from the public realm. Arising from the hack. In the normal course of events hacking, extortion and such criminal endeavors need to be condemned. But if its damaging to trump, its all good.
