What can they be hiding?

He's still kicking himself for bringing her onboard, there were so many better options out there and Obama was not that strong of a candidate until McCain's campaign fell apart under her weight.

While having Palin as a running mate certainly didn't help his campaign, there was very little chance of McCain winning in 08.

After 8 years of Bush, the country was very tired of the R agenda.

I voted for McCain, but I knew from the beginning that he was unlikely to win.

Yeah, that's probably true, just like Bush Sr lost after such a long run of R's. Man, remember those days when you didn't get elected because you said "No new taxes" and then had to add new taxes? He should've just said that Mexico would pay for the taxes.

I would hate to see any President impeached. It doesn't seem all that different from a coup with members of the government overruling the vote. And I felt the same way when it was Clinton's head on the block.

So it is better to leave a mentally unhinged halfwit in power???
It makes more sense to me to have a constitutionally-prescribed method for the sane members of government to remove an insane member.

I don't know where that's coming from. If it becomes necessary then, well, it's necessary. But I'd hate to see us get to that point with any President. As for Pence, I suspect that after a short time with him in power we'd dearly miss Trump's incompetence.

Sarah Palin running as VP is what made it so obvious to me that the GOP had swung so far to the Right and that's when I stopped voting 100% Republican. I vote for very few R's now but it looks like more of them are coming back to the center.

And the funny thing is, according to the resident neo-con mouthpieces on here the two of you easily qualify as flaming liberal pinkos.

Wait, did I say funny? I meant terrifying[:/]

I'd wait for the Mueller investigation to play out before we declare Pence the 46th POTUS. It's neither impossible nor implausible that he is impeached/resigns before it's all said and done. Don't get me wrong, he may have just been duped by his running mate and campaign staffers, but he may have been involved like others.

There had better be a damn good reason for impeachment with broad support from both parties if that is what happens. As bad as Trump is a clearer picture will emerge on the future after the mid-terms. If the House changes hands and Trump is impeached with D only action it will be very bad for America. And it will be futile because there will be no conviction in the Senate.

Maybe, maybe not.

There are a number of R senators who would vote to convict, if the evidence was solid.

There are 9 R senators up for election this year. I would be surprised if all 9 kept their seats.

If there is solid evidence of something serious, then yes. That's different. If all they have is substantially the same as what we know now it would be a very unwise move.

Agreed. But it is not outside the realm of plausibility that the running-mate was involved in campaign shenanigans, like so many others closely involved the campaign. If that turn out to be the case, I expect him to be held accountable.

I reckon gowlerk's got it right. Douchebags are douchebags. All of the R's, whose triangulating could put Hillary to shame, will hang tight in ass save mode.

I personally believe Mike Pence (whose anagram nick name is Emcee Pink, curiously enough) is along for the Christian Coup ride and could not give a holy poop about what is going on beyond judgeships.

Unless Trump resigns we ought to be resigned to Trump as President until 2020. That, I think, is what Pence wants.

Attached is a map of assholes in the US. Washington DC is out of the blue and into the green indicating a moderate possibility of two assholes being in immediate proximity lowering the probability of Pence also being a complete asshole. Now, if they were in New York...

Edited to correct Chicago for New York. It's cocktail hour....

>Someone need to poll trump supporters to see if any actually believe either trump or
>his lawyer with regards to the NDA.

I don't think his supporters put much emphasis on truth. I can see them wishing they were more like Trump, and could bone a porn star while their wives are home with the newborn. Family values and all that. In a recent poll, strong Trump supporters, overall, thought the Daniels affair gave them a more favorable view of Trump.

From a Politico/Morning Consult poll of registered voters:

"Did Trump have an affair with Daniels?" 56% yes 9% no
(Republicans: 30% yes 54% no)
(Strong approvers of Trump: 23% yes 58% no)
(Voted for Trump: 29% yes 56% no)

"Should Trump sue Daniels for breaking the agreement?" 28% yes 40% no
(Republicans: 44% 35%)
(Strong approvers: 48% 36%)
(Voted for Trump: 45% 36%)

"Should FEC investigate the hush payment?" 45% yes 31% no
(Republicans: 19% 50%)
(Strong approvers: 12% 63%)
(Voted for Trump: 15% 55%)

"Does Daniels affair give you a more favorable or less favorable view of Trump?" 9% more 34% less 46% no difference
(Strong approvers: 18% more 4% less 67% no difference)

Interesting result from a PPP poll (via The Hill) - apparently likely voters would take the porn star over Trump for President.
================
. . . .when Daniels’s real name, Stephanie Clifford, is used in the pairing, 42 percent said they would vote for the adult film actress, compared with 41 percent who said they would vote for Trump.
