Why your premiums are so high

Now that is interesting that the AMA is taking a stand.
I didn't think they got involved in things like mergers.

Sooner or later it will be one big insurance company. That will make it easier when President Sanders brings in the single payer system.

This is why I still love the Idea of health savings accounts (with catastrophic health care insurance back up). Less bureaucracy, the better.

What can anyone do about it? It is a private company owned by shareholders. If the board of directors approves of the deal, who's business is it but theirs?

Single payer system.

Works for me. But Americans won't accept it because too many of them see it as freebies for lazy ass ethnic types.

A large part of the advantage of a single payer system is the reduction in the overall size of the bureaucracy needed to support it.

Sorry, but that is not how the U.S. government works. They still think government jobs add to the economy.

Single payer is far more efficient than the obscenity that is the US health insurance industry. They employ legions of people who have the sole job of denying claims and making payments as difficult as possible. Ask your doctor how hard it is to get paid and how much she spends collecting from them.

The US government would not be the single payer. More likely it would be 50 state government agencies with varying degrees of private sector contracting.

Oh, they say that all the time.

Here's a whole NEW bureaucracy - the TSA! Yeah! (said everyone who was scared of terrorists)

Let's build a big wall that will be the biggest government project ever! Yeah! (said Trump supporters)

I spent SEVEN months this year trying to get through to Cigna that I had canceled their dental plan at the same time as I canceled their medical plan. Both were purchased via the Colorado ACA office. I had to put a stop payment order on my bank account to keep them out of it. Cigna kept insisting that I could not cancel my own dental plan because it was purchased via the CO ACA, so they could only accept a cancelation from the CO ACA. I kept telling them that not only had the CO ACA notified them TWICE at my request, but I had the copy of the letter from Cigna acknowledging this. Then they started threatening to turn my account over to a collection agency. Then when I finally got through to them to cancel it, they automatically re-instated it. Then I had a one hour 3-way call with both Cigna and the CO ACA with the CO ACA telling them it had been canceled six months earlier.

So tell me how much more bureaucracy a single-payer system would be.

Um - no, at least not for me.
There would be no course of action for antitrust. There is a reason for anti trust laws.

Ma Bell was getting to big for its britches - so the government forced them to split.

Single payer kinda negates that possibility.

Wow, do you live in left field? So many of your ideas seem to come from there! Single provider would be a monopoly. Single payer is a socialist system of paying. Everyone is covered. America is too frightened to go there. Middle America would rather just hope that there own lives won't be ruined in a personal medical crisis. They know it will happen to someone, but maybe it will be a neighbor, and not them. That way they won't be forced to give coverage to "thugs". And white trash. And all the others they fear.
