Well, here is a story in the Atlanta newspaper about the same story.
Teachers of core subjects really ought to be vessels of the knowledge they are transmitting, and not as much advocates of their own political and religious values, whether they're shared by the community or not.

However, in these days when some parents are not doing much parenting, it's probably hard for people who interact with the kids.

That applies both to the teacher of the little firebrand, and the one dissing Obama.
