sfzombie13 307 #8 January 3, 2014 simply not true. the main reason people are going into survival mode is that BOTH parties are destroying this country. neither party is worth a damn. and if you should happen to find a viable third party candidate, first of all good luck there, second, even if some should get elected, what kind of difference will a small minority make, given the corruption in politics. there is only one way out of the mess we are in now and it doesn't involve any type pf voting. and as americans have lost any kind of spirit or intestinal fortitude, i, along with lots of others i know, are preparing to withdraw. keeping on with business as usual, but silently making preparations for when the inevitable happens. a total collapse of american society as it is now will not hurt anyone who is truly prepared. the more comfort we have attained, the easier it is to remove freedoms. at least i have a place (several) to go. i know of at least one mountain in the southern part of the state which is wholly owned by former sf guys that i have an open invite to if i need it._________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It doesn't give you more native intelligence, or give you better judgment. It just makes you better at a task, like engineering or medicine or architecture or writing. It also is a good way to winnow the really dumb people out. In other words, college doesn't turn dumb people into smart ones - but the dumb ones generally don't make it through. All from the same freshman course: The professor..... is nice and kind... Kallend is an uncaring bastard... I am quite sure that a number of very competent musicians studied engineering or science in college (Brian May Ph.D. comes to mind, among others ) or comedians (Rowan Atkinson, masters in EE from Oxford, Graham Chapman, medicine at Cambridge)), or writers ... On the other hand, the number of people with degrees in history, journalism, women's studies, music, theology... who went on to become prominent scientists or engineers is probably lost in the noise....
