Why hasn't anyone mentioned--Arrest Bashar al-Assad for Murder

Recommended Posts

All the BS about limited strikes, punish Syria, or the Russians saying they'll oversee the chemical weapons... blah blah blah. It's not the chemical weapons that needs taken care of, its Assad. He is a mass murderer. Two million people have left his country and more are leaving every day.

Where is Reagan: US does not negotiate with terrorists.

***so, who does the arresting and who conducts the trial?[uote]

He broke international law by gassing people. We've gone in and got bad guys before and this one is no different. Put him on notice that he's under arrest and if he doesn't turn himself in, we'll simply go get him. We know where he is. These bad guys need to understand that no matter where they are on Earth, we can deal with them.

His wife is shopping while her husband is gassing people. Come on people, this guy needs to go.

So, "we go in and get him" does involve breaking a country. Once we break the country, are we expected to fix it as well? Do we leave without fixing the country and create a generation of syrian's that were raised to hate America?

How many American lives are you ok with sacrificing while trying to arrest assad? Rebuilding?

He gassed his people. His people may have very well used gas also. If Syrians want to bring charges up. They can arrest him, conduct a trial and carry out the prescribed punishment.

Geneva relates more to international conflicts, not internal power struggles. We have no ground to stand on for going in after him.

It's not our fight. Syrians are more than capable of handling Syrian buisness without American influence.

You can't be serious? What did he do in Beirut after our marines and our embassy were bombed, killing over 200 Marines and 60 embassy staff by pro Iranian terrorist

Trading hostages for weapons with Iran as soon as he took office.

Your knowledge of history is pathetic

Probably for the same reason we don't arrest GWB for the mass murder he ordered.

Or Kerry and Obama for attempted murder . . . Maybe conspiracy to commit murder.

Somewhat tough for Syrians to arrest Assad when he controls the military. OH BTW, good case for the public to own guns now isn't it? The non gun owner Syrian's have left the country.

Lack of evidence, wrong time, no opportunity to arrest him and it would leave a power vacuum that would be filled by God alone knows who.
When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.

Following your reasoning most US Presidents should also be arrested.

Not sure any Presidents gassed anyone.
Actually, Charles Taylor has been the only person convicted of war crimes (2011) since Nuremberg. So consequently if you are a President or Political leader of a country allows you great leeway in being a mass murderer with no one coming to arrest you.

Seems odd, yet as a citizen who commits mass murder you'd be locked up before sundown.

So, if can't defend yourself against the state then your best choice is flee. And many Syrians are fleeing.
