A religion can be neither violent nor peaceful. Those qualities can only be possessed by a person.

A doctrine can PREACH violence or peace, and the "followers" of that doctrine can choose to abide by or ignore those preachings.

But in the end, each person is responsible for his own actions. I personally hate religion, but blaming it for violence is stupid. When a person does something stupid, I blame the person.
