cyberskydive 0 #1 August 3, 2001 At about 5pm Thursday the 2cond of August an experienced skydiver, Andy Dobbs, was makling a solo jump from 5500ft. After normal deployment and canopy flight Andy made a radical turn for final approach and did not have time to recover before striking the ground, and then the wingtip of a parked aircraft. Andy was life flighted to Ga Baptist Hospital Trauma Unit. Andy Died at about 11:30 PM from severe head trauma and internal injuries.His son Chase, also a jumper, was at the dz at the time of the accident.Andy was a great friend and a wonderful human being, he will be missed. I always enjoyed jumping with him because even when I screwed up he found something to praise me for which made me feel good. He was always upbeat and positive when he was at the DZ making him a fun person to be around.
