I love the lights and the dark. Since there's so much less to see out near the horizon, if gives me a comfortable, surrounded feeling, kind of like I'm cocooned in cozy darkness. That and the fact that the world seems to be at rest and at peace, make night flying much more calming for me than day flying. --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... I need to get my night currency My night currency has lapsed too. Actually, I prefer the more moon-less nights. If I wanted things bright I'd fly in the day. I like a stark contrast between the lights of buildings and the dark of the land and the sky. Did you ever read the Stephen King story "The Night Flyer"? It's about a vampire who flies around in a black/red Cessna Skymaster, killing people at small airports! Good story, actually! --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... hooked 0 #57 March 24, 2004 QuoteAfter a day of bustle at work, just coming home and being quiet; no TV, I don't let the dogs in at first, and just sit there and let the tension evaporate with the quiet. Very close to mine......to just have some quiet, no TV, no phone, just quiet...this is a simple pleasure. Clean, crisp sheets on the bed. Watching nature or the ocean, or better yet....watching a storm on the ocean. A dog's snuggles and kisses. I miss that. This is especially interesting when they come in for landing. The geese do what is known as Whiffling, and roll onto their side while gliding in, thus dropping about 6 to 10 feet, before leveling off again. Its their way of losing altitude fast. The ducks stop flapping their wings, and tip the ends down, sometimes wobbling side to side, losing altitude fast. Its a real air show and I'll stop my car anytime anywhere to watch it.
