"Pilot Chute" in your language

Recommended Posts

For all you not-only-English speakers out here, can you state the spelling of the expression "pilot chute" in the other languages you speak, as well as the literal translation thereof back into English?

I'll chime in with the Russian version: "meduza" or, "jellyfish."

French: "l'extracteur" or, "extractor"

More?;)

Babelfish is fine for literal translations, but not necessariy for idioms. So you may get the literal translations for the words "pilot" and "chute" but it won't give you what the actual object is called.

For instance, if you ask it to translate "pilot chute" into Russian you get the two words most closely meaning "pilot" and "chute" in Russian, but not the idiomatic "jellyfish."
