credit card fraud.

Recommended Posts

>:( For the second time in my life I've been a victim of credit card fraud. The last time was 1990, second time is today. A short while ago I got off the phone with the security department for my bank VISA card. Their sending me a new card overnight.

I tired to use my card at three ATM's thinking there was a problem with the machines. When I got home I called the bank service and was told about unusual usage of my card that didn't match my spending patterns so the card was stopped. Looks like someone got my card numbers at a gas station in Fredericksburg Virginia.

It happened to me after I went to the Bahamas on our honeymoon....rented a scooter, used the card. Got a $2400 bill later for AOL internet calls. Lesson learned, I know change my credit card numbers on a regular schedule.

this happened to me a few years ago, it was surprising how little effort the bank dedicated to catching the guy and prosecuting him

When it happened to me a few years ago, the dumbass set up phone service, paid his child support and a traffic ticket, bought a couple of things off the internet and bought about $4500 out in gift cards before I realized something was wrong. I had filed a police report when I noticed the charges coming through. Seven months after, the police FINALLY got to my investigation, but told me it was too late to catch the guy. Thankfully, I wasn't responsible for any of the charges because a police report had been filed.

Merry fucking Christmas. Watch yourself out there.

Which is why the problem continues to grow. The banks don't really pay a price, just the vendors and the customers. Not much motivation for them to fix it. But they're dancing a fine line with a Democratic Congress who are looking very eager to legislate out some of the predatory habits. Maybe security will come next.

A friend of mine had the same deal with phone service, water service, and other bits with a clear address. If the timing had been different, it would have killed her first home purchase. At least Pacbell had the sense to put the scumbag on hold and call her to confirm.

Short of using different cards for different purposes (ie, foreign or online), there's not a lot to do to protect yourself. The credit freezes don't seem to be honored consistently.

You won't see me getting a visa card attached to my checking.

Same thing happened to me. Respectable (or so I thought so) local escort. Arranged the meeting in a local motel room. I arrived, she called in the credit card # and we proceeded to get down to business.

She was decent, really got into it. I mean moaning and all, hips grinding, bucking like a bronco. Rocked my world.

Little did I know the little bitch had other plans. Damn ho and pimp went fucking christmas shopping on my dime.

I have never seen such a large purchase of lube in my life.

That was a real bitch explaining that one to my wife.

Got my new VISA card this morning.

I'm disappointed I had to find out the card numbers were stolen by not being able to get cash from an ATM nine days after the bank blocked the card.

I got a follow up call last night from someone in their security department, all we did was go over the information on his screen. He said an email was sent to someone that was supposed to call. :(

Everytime a charge comes through for a certain amount or above a preset amount or if they suspect a charge isn't mine, they call me and verify the charge..

You can read more about it here. Just something I saw and decided to join because of the growing # of incidents happening. Oh and i joined this in august, not just after this post...haha

You do have to pay for it, but it helps to have someone extra to watch your stuff for you.
Puttin' some stank on it.
