End of Innocence

Jaleesa lost another tooth yesterday (she's 11; I thought they were done with that stuff by now! :o:ph34r:)

Any how...she walked into my room this morning to help me with the boys, and said, 'Oh! I wonder what I got from the Tooth Fairy!'

:| Oh crap.

Dang it I knew there would come a day that we'd forget and have no real way around it. We've always 'found' the money on her dresser or behind her bed if we had forgotten...

There aren't any believers left in her class at school...and I kind of felt bad last year about going to so much trouble to really make it look feasible. I knew she'd be trying to convince her friends at school (and of course we knew it would be an uphill battle :S).

So as she crawled into our bed to keep an eye on her hopping twin brothers as I took a quick shower, I just kind of patted her head and said, "How about a new pair of jeans?"

She looked up at me, "Mom...you've been putting the money under my pillow, haven't you? You're the Tooth Fairy?"

"Can't you see my wings?" :)
:|...[:/]

"We'll go get you some new pants today. You've outgrown all of yours; you're getting so tall!" (and she's getting so much older...:()

So here's my question: when/how did your kid find out about the Tooth Fairy or Easter Bunny or Santa or whatever? And is it a snowball effect? Does one immediately discount the others? [:/] I don't want her to lose all of her childlike wonder this year...it's going to be a tough year already and it would just break my heart. :(

Is that cuz you outlived the rest of the residents in that nursing home?
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

Haha omg my grandpa did that once. He and grandma hid some eggs and us kids couldn´t find them... Well neither could they. We found some of the chocolate a year later under one couch.... some other in a closet and so on. And some stuff never resurfaced :D
Lol grandpa was the bestB|

Mr. Whyte I am a bit slow today...I don't get it. :|

Do ya mean that boys won't figure out about the Tooth....OH HELL!!! NO YOU DON'T, MISTER!!! >:(>:(>:( The child will be very welcome to go on her first date, for one hour only, escorted by daddy, on her 30th birthday.

Until then, the only 'boys' that will have her heart are daddy and her brothers. :D

Amen!!
Actually remind me sometime to tell you about the "Date" my Daughter brought to her Sweet 16 Party. I almost felt sorry for the poor kid by the end of the party.:P:D:D:D:D

Maybe by the time my daughter is 30 or so she will forgive me.:)

Reminds me of one day at the DZ. A friend of mine's daughter had popped by, a bit older than yours (but not that much). The manifestor made a comment about boys to which my buddy quickly offered, "She is not interested in boys, are you sweetheart?"
"No, not really,..." she answered demurely, "...I'm interested in men."
Brian loked very, very old.

my parents told me when I was 8 when the babysitter forgot to tell them that I lost a tooth. I was crushed, especially when they started to tell me about Santa too. I burst into tears with "Does that mean there's no Easter Bunny too?"

Its funny to look back on it and laugh now :)

Oh no! :( Gawd I don't want to see my baby crying today...:(:(:(

Maybe we'll buy her two pairs of jeans and avoid the question. :|

Love to hear about it...every time I think of lil' Jaleesa eventually dating I think of that scene in 'Bad Boys' (or mebbe Bad Boys II??) when Will Smith meets Martin's daughter's boyfriend at the door...

Good stuff right there.
