If I bought a rig on my third jump I would've outgrown it by at least two canopy sizes by the time it even arrived. [/edit]I really don't know what I'm talking about. I also know it's going to be a while before I'm ready to buy anything but I have a fairly good idea what I'll want when it's time... maybe by the end of summer.The only naturals in this sport shit thru feathers... jloirsdaan 0 #10 January 2, 2006 Yeah, Lisa is right......I load my current MAIN at 1.15:1. A sabre 190....my reserve however....is a 201 which I load at just over 1:1. I'd hate at this point and time to chop and have to land downwind into someones back yard surrounded by a picket fence loading a canopy at 1.2. I am about to downsize myself....and hope to get a reserve in the 180's....if I have to get a 176r....then I'll probably do a bunch of jumps on my new 170 in my old rig....till I think I'd be ready to land the reserve under less than optimal conditions. I jump a Spectre 210, started by demoing a 230 in my own G4 at about 50 jumps, put 15 on the 230 then loaded the 210 in the rig. Worked out alright, and after about 100 jumps on the 210 I was comfortable with it. I did a lot of canopy practice - I should have taken a canopy course. You might mention if you sized your container to downsize your main to something around a 170??? As you're downsizing keep in mind that you can demo PD reserves (as mains) too. When you and your trusted instructors agree that you are ready you might consider demoing down reserve sizes to target preparation to land your reserve. Recommendation #1: If you are in Red Deer you might want to consider coming down to Sunny Florida and training. Recommendation #2: Jump rentals till you're real comfortable landing what you bought - It would be a shame to get a brand new G4 all dirty and scuffed. It might even be illegal. Recommendation #3: If Ward is putting your rig together you might consider having a rigger check it when it arrives . . . OH . . .
