Blue Angels close call at Lynchburg

Recommended Posts

Not just one jet. Number one almost lead the entire 4 ship right into the ground. There was also an incident the weekend prior that involved a Fat Albert C-130 crew member, a Corvette, the runway, and a lot of alcohol......

Would be way cooler if it involved some of the rockets from the RATO

Oops. Isn't number one flown by the commander?

No more RATO. They depleted the last of the stored rockets in 2009. I was lucky enough to see the next to the last RATO shot they did at Reno that year.

So... now it's just a big, blue -130?

There are things the C27J can do that the C130H cannot do and vice versa, there is not exactly a overlap in capabilities.

INHO it is an excellent aircraft design, it has some real longevity in it, probably 50 years worth.

Apparently the low pull out is the one seen at 24:10 of the above video.

I haven't confirmed that this is absolutely correct, but it seems reasonable based on what I've seen on the web.

Edit:
shorter version of the video

I thought they were supposed to break formation that way, they just happened to be low when doing so.

I don't think so, but I could be wrong...

Another thing that draws a ?mark is the inconsistent use of smoke by various members during the routine...it doesn't looked like the usual continuity is there during the performance.

They ARE Navy guys...maybe someone had a helmet fire goin'.

Why does the navy use powdered soap in the shower?

Takes longer to pick up. :D

I think you're right. The guy who posted the video commented that at 12 minutes he's pretty sure you see the same maneuver from the previous day and there's no break away like the one at 24 minutes.
