  3. Hello Neo, I see you jump at Hinton ( nr Oxford in the UK for our overseas brother and sisters :) ) then drop in and see Maddy at DZsports (the shop) and you can try the Jav with a Sabre 190 or Icon with the Pilot 188 ....they all are pretty new and you can rent them for a few days or week or more ! Everyone has their own personal choice as to which canopy they like or which container fits and feels better. I liked the Icon so rented it for a few months (with a PILTO) and then bought it all new. There are pro's and cons to buying new and second hand....again its all choice.. For me...I went for a Pilot as I really liked the way it opened and the response under canopy and (as I have a long torso) I really liked the fit of the Icon. I opted to buy it all new and have been jumping it for 3 months and I definitely made the right choice
  4. I had a day spare in Holland while working there so I thought i'd check out Teuge. Very glad I did :-) I pitched up the evening before to watch the landing area. Very nice vibe, everyone speaking English and Dutch. The DZ is based on an active busy airport and has a nice large landing area with plenty of green to land out on. The centre is the busiest training centre in Holland with static line, AFF, Round (military) and Tandems. All the instructors - without exceptions - were happy to chat and help a new visitor. Not a Sky God in sight (see the previous Review!) They happily gave me a full briefing and tour of the DZ. 25EUR get you 3500, 6000 or 12000 depending on the plane load and number manifested. They run 2 x Super Caravans ....this is my first time in a Super Caravan and they are FAST! Manifest is stress free and there's a great bar/restaurant hang out. There is camping onsite and large training and packing hangars. Theres' an onsite shop and riggers loft. This was a great DZ and I will be back.
  5. Exactly ! Carl (12000) jumps is jump master And jumps with the student .... Then it's the student Having FaceTime with the hidden camera. :-) Flores had no skills and his a camera as well.
  6. Well here goes... I was chatting to an AFF student (L5) who was super excited but explained his friend gave up after L1. Why i asked ? And this is what he said (pretty much On L1 his friend lost both instructors just after exit. Ended up spinning on his back. Instructors couldn't do much. He threw his pilot chute (whilst still on his back) - it went through his legs with and he had a partially deployed main. He cutaway (luckily his main disappeared) on his back... the reserve fired and the force (not sure how) cracked 3 ribs... When he landed he didn't flair fully and he broke his femur. Ok I understand his friends decision. This was at a top DZ with excellent instructors.
  7. Brz At most dropzones you can pay an extra $20 to have the cameraman catch you if the tandem master has to cut you away. Joking aside - I wouldn't worry to much - each dropzone has a soft landing area for passengers who have been cut away mid skydive to land. A tandem instructor is only permitted to cut you away if he is directly over this soft area. If he cuts you away over anywhere else then he risks losing his ratings and won't be able to take any more passengers. Good luck.
  8. Havoc, Ignore GooniesKid he's still sucking on his mamas boobies.
  9. Thanks for all the replies everyone !! ....3 weeks to go...lets hope the rain in the UK stops so I can use it.
  10. If I plan (which I do) to wing suit then the rig is ready to go.. As I can downsize 2 canopy sizes with the new container I am going to have it for many years... The longer bridle was a 60usd option so I went for it as I dint want it retrofitted in a few years.
  11. At the end of the month I get my brand new custom Icon with a Pilot 188 canopy. I have jumped a near new Icon and Pilot (188) for about 75 jumps on a long term rental from the DZ so am happy with whats coming. The 2 main differences I have ordered are a Freefly handle and longer bridle on the pilot chute. The cutaway and reserve are both as I have always jumped (soft cutaway and metal reserve) When jumping new gear for the first time (s) what should be my priorities in relation to the new gear both in freefall and under canopy? Thanks.....
  12. Lindsay is from the UK and is based at Deland - she was one of my AFF instructors. http://lindsaywiddall.com/ She rocks.

  15. So here I am just doing my downwind leg and the jumper in front of me does a low hook turn and gets very messed up. (multiple injuries) We are all landing a short truck ride away from the main buildings as that the way this USA DZ is set up I land pretty close (unaware that the incident has happened) and his jump buddy is screaming "If your not medically trained GET THE F*CK OUT I MEAN IT GET THE F*CK AWAY. OK, we all react differently - difficult to see your jump buddy screwed up - I understand his rage. The DZ and staff are on the radios and help is on its way. Amazingly a guy landing from his first solo (welcome to skydiving) is a medic. I set my brakes, gather my canopy and wait in the truck. I think I am answering my own question but what should have i done ?
  16. Thanks for the heads up everyone. Rev2 for me :-)
  17. Any more feedback on the REV2 from anyone ? Thanks
