  1. any modern container that would hold a Flik Ultralite 225 (freepacked packs around a 135-150) and a PD optimum 126 would be my choice for a wingsuit rig. never flew a V4 (fly V2). what about V4 think there is something unique about it different from other larger wingsuits???
  2. Wow! Pulled off the condescending post in most French fashion. No pardon granted dude as your attitude is already in the corner and really is not welcome as it just will get you or someone else hurt or killed. Can I have number 133 please all of your posts are you predicting people's deaths. how do you feel about being such a great contributor to the site?
  3. If you're in the shit after opening - hauling a rear is a better option. or popping toggles and immediately doing a braked turn
  4. actually harness turns help a lot even on larger caopies. I fly a canopy loaded at .75:1 and harness turns noticeably turn my canopy with less toggle input needed for the same degree turn.
  5. a bit preachy but no issue there - frankly, I'm usually more enthusiastic with the newbie substituting root beer floats, or soda, than beer IMO Rehmwa - It would only be "preachy" (if we are using these words the same way) if there was a mandate for others to follow suit - which there was not (nor was there one intended to be interpreted). Speaking for myself, I certainly do not care what other people do with their bodies - as long as they do not harm me or my loved ones. your kidding right? I don't drink for personal (ie not spiritual or OH MY GOD I WAS ABUSED AS A CHILD) reasons, simple as that. I'm not torn between the two (OMG a skydiver that knew what that big word meant). If we wanna talk about not feeling right about supporting an addictive behavior than why do we all support each other skydiving or dang I guess I'm a drug dealer since I'm an AFFI and TI... lock my ass up since we all talk about jonesin for an air fix. I do not personally agree with you that participating in skydiving is displaying addictive behavior. What constitutes addictive behavior is an element of compulsivity and an element of harm to the individual (or group of individuals or society the addiction is situated in). Certainly skydiving could be addictive (and some are addicted), however it is set up so that it could be a very healthy and fulfilling activity (in the sunshine, with friends, moving your body, stimulating your mind). Maybe your post most clearly identifies your own problematic relationship to skydiving (that there is an element of addiction to it). Be careful not to project onto others your own problems.
  6. thanks a lot guys! I can't say there are any safety issues unique to beginner teams, but the only one I could think of would be at break off. If you take the center (meaning you just pull at break off, everyone esle tracks, you stay put and dump) you run the risk of people taking short tracks and dumping close to you. One way to avouid this is to track off at break off, and pull on level (but far away) from the rest of the team. Whatever the plan, just make sure you set it up ahead of time, and then every member of the team knows and understands their place at break-off. It doesn't hurt to mention the plan just before boarding on every jump. Otherwise, depending on how 'new' the jumpers are, just remember that you're going to be above them for most of the jump, so gear maintenance and proper packing becomes a concern of yours. Sloppy packing, loose closing loops or BOC pouches, etc, can all add up to a PC or canopy in the face for the camera guy, so keep an eye out for that as well. when you say above them you dont mean directly above them do you? I can always be slightly off to the side and still get the shot that I need right???
  7. - incorrect. It's much difficult to flock in V3 then in V4 (if the flock fly instead falling down on bellies) because to swell in V3 you need forward speed which usually more than the flock speed. Swelling in V4 much easier, because of extra clobber on the sides. May be you will don't mind if you very light and high, but usually flocking is V3 much toughly. hahahaha awesome post
  8. how much faster does it start? comparatively...like difference between 3 or 4 seconds?
  9. some are on a spiritual path that diverges from such mean (ie average) consumptive behavior as buying and drinking alcohol. You appear more ambivalent than that - which is acceptable also - also having been exposed very immediately and personally with drug addicts (alcohol and drugs) it does not feel right to some to support addictive drug-taking behavior in others.
  10. there's a 14 page thread 'post your camera setup thread' or something like that. its got what you're looking for about 200 different camera setups. spanning 2003 to current too! (pretty wild to look at the evolution of camera setups even over such a recent 10 year period).
  11. what should I look out for - ie what are the safety issues?
  12. perhaps the younger generation is being a 'pussy' by caring about their longterm health ad wellness by not drinking alcohol...yes very pussy indeed
  13. its the first time I really thought that maybe it does make a difference for other serious reasons to obey manufacturer recommendations for canopy sizing. its not just a "I'll shorten the closing loop" issue i guess!
  14. what rigging factors are involved with the main container opening after being partially deployed (maybe PC thrown and in tow) after the reserve opens. Does reserve packjob tightness have anything to do with this (a tighter packjob presses down on the main more locking it in place while its there only???). main closing loop tension? shape of main pack tray??? (different containers may be more susceptible to this???)) The recent cypres save thread got me thinking about this. Last thing I'd want to deal with is a two-out exactly after having to deal with a near terminal malfunction (PC in tow for instance).
  15. do you mean the original crossfire or the crossfire2???
  16. that was a shot in the dark by the way but in this modern world of computer use and other commiserate activities it seems the majority of our population has some anterior delt imbalance. I would recommend going to see a sports therapist.
  17. you probably have an anterior muscular imbalance. Check out the position of the humerus at rest. If it is pulled forward you definitely have an anterior deltoid and/or pectoral major imbalance (tightness that needs stretching). This tightness will cause impingement and inflammation when working the joint through its ROM.
  18. In all fairness, between your feet isn't where you should be looking... Scanning side to side (which will give you a view of whats above and to the side with peripheral vision) and below is where you should. it depends on your AoA and whether you are tracking with good form (chin tucked to chest) - you can actually see quite a bit looking down your legs backwards when you are tracking for max distance while preserving vertical altitude.
  19. Thanks for the advice that was what I needed to frame the project (possible pitfalls). I'll definitely plan to make it removable in case my camera needs to be adjusted. to answer your question, we do have strong ventilation but I assume some of the melted plastic fumes go straight to my brain because life is getting to be a little too hilarious with each passing day of my wonderful life. But that is what skydiving, sex, drugs (and plastic fumes) will do to a person. evening Dave!
  20. how many skills do you need to fly video for a beginner four way team? If I can turn 8-12 simple points on a skydive how much better should I become before I have DaveLepka's seal of approval???
  21. Trust me, you miss a lot. In terms of your helmet, if the bolts are secure, then when you do with the rest if it is up to you. Using a manufactured piece will be cleaner, and allow you to easily move or remove it, but if you want to 'DIY' the solution, it's your lid so do whatever you want. If anything you do is 'permanent', just make sure that everything is where you want to be before you 'lock' it in place. Please elaborate on what I am missing Do you think a better option would be to cover temporarily the helmet and set the adapter myself so I could make it removable. I work all day long with melting plastic so I am pretty handy maybe what would be considered a professional in melted plastic
  22. I have a chin cup! anything else I need (I assume hyp-eye). i will be doing rw camera flying.
