  1. I actually like doing a road trip. Sounds like a lot of fun. I've always wanted to see skydiving competitions, although, watching it from the ground, I'm not sure if I can see that much.
  2. I have never seen skydiving competitions and wondering if going to watch the Nationals is something interesting to do?
  3. You should come out to SoCal to visit. You can find lots of good looking chicks like those on Pan Am, out here
  4. DSE, that's interesting. Never knew there were "professional tandem skydivers". That's cool.
  5. I guess I am being hard on myself. I really do enjoy doing tandems in the interim. This morning one of my friends who came on my 5-way with me, emailed the video he shot (with a GoPro) and it was amazing. I really had a good time with that jump.
  6. Yikes, I didn't know that people know that others are more prone to getting hurt, and you guys try to guess when it might happen next. Eeek!!!!!
  7. Thanks everybody for replying. Yeah, today I went and did another tandem. When I say I feel like I am "letting myself down", what I am referring to is the struggle I had to deal with to get through AFF. I had to do 24 jumps just TO get off AFF, along with almost 2 hours of tunnel. Repeated level 3 ten times, struggled, and kept on going, only to be brought down on my 2nd solo. It seems for all the effort (time, effort, and money) I put into go after my license, now to just settle with doing tandems, I feel like I am letting myself down and people might think bad of me. Most times, when people put in effort and preserverence, reaching the end goal is the ultimate satisfaction. I DO enjoy doing tandems (didn't think I would, esp after being able to jump on my own), but tandems take the anxiety out of the equation for me. I also did my first 5 way jump yesterday with my friends and that was a blast. Can't wait to do that again :) I still have NOT given up on getting back on the horse (and finishing my license), but for now tandems are da bomb.
  8. That I am starting to enjoy doing tandems more than jumping solo? I did a 5-way tandem with my friends yesterday at sunset and it was one of the best jumps I have ever gone on? I had a great time and was NOT nervous the whole way up. I am still leaving open the option of coming back to finish my licensing, but since it will be quite a while before I can solo again, I am doing tandems. Sometimes I feel like I am letting myself down because I like tandems a lot, esp since I overcame so many obstacles to get through AFF and then I had an accident that took me out of the running.
  9. Ended up doing a 5-way tandem RW jump yesterday. That was soooo cool. Haven't had this much fun with jumping. It was nice that my friends organized this for me. Two of my friends even videoed in on their Go-Pros.
  10. Congrats on getting back up in the sky. Be safe and have fun. I plan on doing another tandem this weekend
  11. Have him come to the DZ and see what you are doing and what goes on there. Then see if he wants to do a tandem. This past Sunday, I brought my husband and his friend to the DZ for the first time, and showed him around. I even got his best friend to come up on an observer ride with me while I did a tandem. Now they have an idea what skydiving is about
  12. I like posting on here. Lots of cool stuff on this side of the forums
  13. Thanks. I do hope you are able to get back in the air again. It is really a unique, out of this world, experience.
  14. Virgin-burner, I see your POV and I know that skydiving may not be the safest thing for me. But, it is sooo much fun, just as long as I can keep my anxiety under control. For now, I am going to do tandems and once I heal up (in 2-4 more months), I will make a decision if I want to continue or just stay with tandems. For now, I am having fun though ;)
  15. I had that happen to me before. Like what the other said, changing the password and updating the antivirus helps a lot. Although, I have a Mac now and still have gotten this stuff before. I though Macs are impervious to stuff like this.
  16. Need to keep this in mind, because that is very true. I am pretty mellow and try not to do things to rock the boat.
  17. I need thicker skin. I'm getting better. I tend to be a bit TOO sensitive
  18. I struggled a lot with AFF. It took me 24 jumps just TO get off AFF. I was on my 2nd solo jump when my accident occurred. The accident was totally MY fault. I planned out my landing wrong and ended up coming downwind towards the main landing area (which is a no-no for a student). I was also coming in with my left leg sticking out (instead of tucked in for a PLF). Didn't flare enough or PLF, so landed very hard on my left leg and compounded fractured the tib/fib. Due to my extreme anxiety, and my penchant for freaking out, that led to me making bad decisions that built upon each other and led to my accident. Honestly, I am not sure what I am going to do in regards to continuing. Just recently I was finally able to get back up in the air and do tandems. So far, I am having a lot of fun with that. If I do want to continue with my licensing, I will have to wait at least 2 more months, if not more. I've already been out for about 3 months.
  19. I had a compound fracture of the tib/fib on my 2nd solo jump (just off AFF), about 2.5 months ago. Recently I did a few tandems. Will need to heal for a few more months before I make the decision whether to continue with my licensing, or just doing tandems (which are fun too).
  20. Love your attitude Wish I could have that attitude towards life
  21. hope the guy wasn't hurt too badly.
  22. Suggest you avoid posting in Speakers Corner, then. I rarely post there since political discussions usually get too fiery. Skydiving has helped me stand up for myself more, which is a positive.
  23. I tend to be a worrywart and I always worry if I offend people or if people think badly of me, etc. Not good for someone who suffers from anxiety.
