  2. Why hasn't the Marine Corps sent you to jump school? I am assuming your with 2nd Recon if your up in Lejeune. Shouldn't they have or be sending you to Airborne school?
  3. 60 days Devil Dog, 30 days is for people who do not have an A license yet, but are off AFF. Your re currency jump will just be with an instructor as stated above, and then you will be good to go.
  4. First off, welcome, I am also a Marine, where are you stationed at??? Secondly, getting recurrent is easy if you deploy. The time you want to dedicate after you finish AFF or whatever program you go through is up to you. There is no time limit on how long it takes to get ones A license, B license or so on. My other question is have you made any jumps before like a tandem? Or will this be your first one?

    Weather

I hear you, I was in Maryland last week, (my home state) and the snow storm that hit us put us out of power for 4 days. However, generally the weather down here permits us to skydive and right now it does not atleast in the winter you all know your taking a break. But my heart goes out to you, do you all even get to jump in the winter or does everyone just close down for the season?

Yeah, we have had dog shit weather all this week and all this weekend, Tuesday is supposed to be the first sunny day in a week so I am leaving work early and going skydiving haha.

    Weather

I generally skydive at Deland or Palatka, (Deland mostly), but I just wanted to say I am tired of this fucking weather, no jumping all week for me, or all weekend. Just thought I would let all of the people everywhere else who are jumping that we are suffering here in Florida (for once).
  8. Totally agree, not to mention they want to decrease unemployment but cut federal employment by 15%, they want to cut funding to the DC Metro and Amtrak (which takes thousands to work everyday in that area) honestly makes no sense to me what these people draft up.
  9. Apologies I thought I put it in the speakers corner. Can someone move it?
  10. Has anyone seen this, I would like to hear peoples opinions on it, personally I think it is a crock of shit. http://www.usnews.com/news/washington-whispers/articles/2011/01/20/house-gop-lists-25-trillion-in-spending-cuts
  11. At Deland....I see some of the Chinese team wear these all the time.
  12. I wear the standard NFL receiver gloves and take a pair of small cotton gloves that you can buy for a buck at CVS or Walgreens and put them under my receiving gloves, if its really warm I wont wear gloves if it is getting colder I will only wear the receiving gloves if it is really cold I will wear the cotton gloves under the receiving gloves, that will do it up to 25 degrees (which is the coldest I jumped in) it is never to cold to skydive.
  13. I would be trading my Storm 170 to a Storm 150 or a Sabre 2 150. I think I am going to hold off for a while though I really like my Storm and am kind of attached to that canopy so I am going to see if I can get that canopy to perform more to what I want when I go tomorrow.
  14. The Storm is a great canopy very stable, really soft openings and the flare is powerful not quite like the Sabre 2 but still powerful. It is a really stable canopy that handles wind really well I think I just load it a little light to get really good wind penetration. I have also been cotemplating downsizing to a Storm 150 because I really do like that canopy. I will probably demo both the Sabre 2 and Storm 150, I am in no real rush to downsize I was just thinking in the next 50 or so jumps.
  15. Currently I am jumping a Storm 170 and am demoing a Sabre 2 170 which is in my rig. I really like the Sabre 2 and I think I like it much better than the Storm. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if downsizing to a Sabre 2 150 which would be loaded at about 1.1 would make the Sabre 2 too aggressive? The Sabre 2 170 is nice but it seems a little docile I am loading it about .95 or so. I want a canopy that is a little faster and will turn quicker than what the 170 is doing for me. As for canopy control I feel completely comfortable under the 170 my landings are where I want them and on the Sabre 2 they are the softest landings I have ever experienced every jump I have put on the demo Sabre 2 have been stand up. I would appreciate any thoughts on this. Thanks.
  16. Everything that happens once you are under canopy will be explained in your first jump course (FJC). I do have to ask, why exactly do you want to do another tandem? I understand you may not remember exactly what it was like when you did your first tandem. There are plenty of skydivers including myself who never did a tandem jump before starting AFF. You will be exiting the aircraft with two qualified individuals that will hold on to you until you open your parachute. Maybe some others can give you some input here because I am a fairly new skydiver, I just don't see any real value in doing another tandem before you start AFF, not to mention you will save yourself some money by not doing another tandem that you could put towards future AFF jumps or jumps after AFF.
  17. Just an update for those of you who said I needed to do a hop n pop from 3500ft. Well I was on the plane at Deland and we were supposed to go to 5k but the Chinese team decided to get out at 2900 so I decided to go out with them. It was awesome.
  18. After 35 jumps, I finally have gotten my A license.
  19. The Congressman quoted needs to let the American public in on who his dealer is because he has to be using some good shit. Even if the President asked to be exposed to some sort of danger I have a feeling he would be told otherwise by Secret Service Agents and military personnel whose job it is to make sure he stays alive.
  20. I feel like I get on DZ.com everyday and skyrider has posted yet another extremely far right winged view just to piss people off. Of those of you that are in the military or have served. I am sure your experience at boot camp was just as mine was. Where when you did take showers I know ours took about 10 seconds total. That gave no one to enjoy the scenery. I would advise people who are advocating this whole straight men should shower with women at boot camp thing is that no gay people are going to get the chance to look and get a "raging hard on" after they have been in the shower for 10 fucking seconds.
  21. I really don't see what the big deal is. I'm in the military and I'm straight, and as long as the person who is next to me can shoot his fucking weapon or do whatever job he is supposed to do then there isn't no problem. All of these people who are talking about people getting raped in the shower. Its not going to happen. It is a farfetched secario that homophobes come up with to try and justify their point. There are people who didn't want black people in the military and that worked out well. There are people who don't want women on submarines, but now those boats are getting women on them. The military is adapting and the people of the Armed Forces need to adapt too. I really do not even see why a civilian would give a fuck whether gay people can serve in the military or not.
  22. My using the reference of not all muslims are terrorists is because that is what this entire world has associated terrorism with. It is sickening that muslims can't even walk down the street without being labeled as a terrorist by half the American public. And to the other post about not being outside the country, I have been and I appreciate how free this country is. And again I feel that this is just encouraging the view that if someone is a muslim than there a terrorist, not to mention after this statement I am sure muslims in Australia are going to be treated with harsher discrimination from people and the government (police).
  23. If we start to circulate this amongst the United States, that will be the day when this country isn't free and I will look for another free country to live in. I understand that they don't want people living under Sharia Law, however, do they honestly have a widespread problem with people actually practicing Sharia Law in Australia or is it that they just don't want Muslims of any kind in Australia anymore? Good for the lady in taking a strong position against terrorism, but my problem is that not all muslims are terrorists and not are terrorists are muslim. Incidents in the United States other than 9/11 have certainly shown that.
