  5. FDA Alert Points to Possible Ice Cream-Salmonella typimurium Outbreak By Peggy Peck, Senior Editor, MedPage Today July 03, 2005 Also covered by: CBS News, Newsday WASHINGTON, July 3—The FDA has issued a nationwide alert that cake-batter flavored ice cream from the gourmet ice cream maker, Cold Stone Creamery, may have triggered a four-state outbreak of Salmonella typimurium. In response to the FDA alert, which was issued Friday, Cold Stone Creamery said immediately it removed cake-batter flavored ice creams from its store shelves. The FDA notice warned consumers who purchased cake-batter ice cream products to dispose of them immediately. Reports of S. typimrium infections first surfaced in late May and early June. Cases have been reported in Minnesota, Washington, Oregon and Ohio. The CDC has reported 14 cases thus far. Many said they consumed cake-batter ice cream purchased at Cold Stone Creamery story shortly before onset of symptoms. The FDA, CDC, and state health authorities are working to determine the source of the contaminated product, and the FDA issued the alert to protect the public, said Dr. Robert Brackett, Director of the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition." Symptoms of S. Typhimurium include high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramping, and diarrhea. Arthritis is a long-term complication of the infection. Among healthy adolescents and adults the symptoms are short-lived, but in small children, frail or elderly adults, or persons with compromised immune systems the infection can be fatal.
  6. i would guess the voucher (as most are) would be for X% off RETAIL...not X% off the lowest amount you can find at a dealer. :) congrats on your voucher but give kelly a call tomorrow at VSE and ask him... or ask the person that gave you the voucher. it could be a dealer certificate vs. a mfgr certificate.
