The chances of you packing any Square chutes is remote. When it comes to actual chutes you will be doing rounds only. Rounds????? ha, ha, ha... You kidding right???? Nope, not kidding. spec ops use the squares. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker

Thanks. I already managed to find one para-marine unit, one air delivery platoon unit marines, and a army airborn rigger unit. all three reserves. I also did research on the MOS and realize that they just don't pack parachutes and as in any military mos, you just about always have to go to school. A 92R is a number designator for the parachute rigging job. MOS is military accupational specialty. Restated- Are there any out there? Serving currently? What branch?...I'm looking for input from people that have been a 92R as far as school, performing job duties, and life in general as a 92R. Thanks for wanting to help. OK Then, I'm missing something. What is your "gear and rigging" question? It sounded to me like a question about a unit of the armed forces and tyring to relocate yourself with them. No disrespect to the men and women in uniform, but what do you specfically want to know about sport skydiving equipment? BTW I've been told @ least once that I'm not a complete idiot, just on occasion. Mick. I wasn't aware that someone called you an idiot. If they did I don't have control over that. I certainly didn't call you one, but I apologize for any language that may have lead you to believe that I did. I wouldn't think that anyone posting here would be. I figured that since this was trade related, even if it was equipment specific, that it belonged here. If it isn't then a moderator will let me know. 10. Some use it as a stepping stone, some don't. Some fields in the Private work force don't pay as much as you could make in the armed forces. I could be making 40K a year active with my time in service and pay grade. but I make 7k less and pay my own benefits. Electronics don't make as much as the medical field. I didn't like reward/cost ratio so I stayed reserves like I started. I have a great job in the private work force, so the reserves will have to do. thanks anyway. Gunnery Sergeant of Marines "I would like it if I were challenged mentally at my job and not feel like I'm mentally challenged." - Co-worker
  15. Just speaking for me, I don't like to be told what to do that is why I got promoted to E-6 within 4.5 years. I worked hard to get there that fast. I wanted to be at the top. I got frustrated at how slow promotions were when I got that far so I left. 17. The bad part to being a reservist is not being single. There is a side effect to being there and you have to be willing to deal with that. I was called a reversist several times, but I also know that even though reservists do things backward from active we still do the job because most of us were active at one point. ... and sometimes even better. I have seen good jobs and poor jobs on both sides. No offense to the active component but I didn't like them either. Lots of the active that quit after being in the reserves weren't open minded enough or flexible enough and got fustrated at how things are run. The good thing is that you will be in contract but it will be non-obligated so you can leave and you can keep going and get a retirement and other bennies you won't have if you got out all together. What you have to do is decide what you are willing to put up with and if it is worth the reward or not. Just my.02. This has to do with rigging if I wanted the general public's opinion then I would have posted it there. I think here is appropriate. If it isn't then the MODERATOR will move it or tell me to move it and delete this. Thanks. 19. Ooh-Rah Marine! I was in the reserves and left after 10 years. getting to go back in check the 92R thread in gear and rigging forum. I'm afraid I don't have much advice since I didn't leave active duty. Except for don't leave, go to the reserves and us the GI bill to go to school. Find a civilian job in your field mean while. Are there any out there? Serving currently? What branch? I am a former Marine and I'm in the IRR now. I served in Comm maintenance. Served ten and miss it about 90%. I found para-marine reserve unit but they are blowing me off so I talked with an Army recruiter. 22. Firstly, from now on, as if you didn't learn this. Keep business as business. coworkers aren't real friends actually just aquantences(sp?). Secondly, read my signature line. With that being said since you started this whether or not you think she is right, she is upset and she thinks it's your fault. Since you work together apologize and state that your intentions were for the best. Then leave it alone. Never get personal at work. She didn't get in surance and UPS lost the package the trail stops at customs. so she makes a claim to paypal and get s a charge back to her credit card via paypal. now I'm out a camera and the money I sold it for.
