  1. why even say it that way.just tell a newby to use the proper materials, and technique.just tell them the right thing to do first. let them figure out there own bad habits later. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  2. just a question Tom.Being a teacher of Base should you not teach the proper way of doing a static line with the proper materials?ie;not tape ,but brake cord? http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  3. use steering line with a finger trap loop at both ends.Pass 1 through the other around a railing to form a larks head or a slip not. Then take break cord(any base manufacture has it $1 per yard)and tie it a specific way through the bridal(either at end or a looped not you make closer to the pins or shrivel flap)then through the finger trap on the steering line.Search on blinc will show you how to tie the static line,or here.Hope this helps. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/

Nice to have met you,and jumped with you.It was also fun to move your tents because you were so LOUD.Sorry to see anyone go,but you gotta do what you gotta do.Hope to see you back some day. Your Neighbor in TF,Mikey http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  5. Just remember always go for rear risers. The reasons are obvious, and most are allready stated. The most important one is if you release your toggles on an off heading(90 degrees or more)your canopy is going to surge forward, and you might release 1 just a split second before the other, and give yourself an even worse off-heading than you started with. Some guys will tell you to reach up and turn with 1 of the rear risers. This is correct on anything below a 100 degree off-heading(unless your jumping a wall that is in a bowl). In case of anything over 100 degrees you want to pull both rear risers down to stop your forward momentum get the canopy to start to fly backwards, then let up(do not pop it,let up easy) on 1 while the other is pulled down, and get yourself flying away from the object. Alot of times I see guys flipping themselves all the way around with there risers, thus losing alot of altitude.Remember all you have to do is get yourself flying away from the object then you can release the risers, and go for your breaks. You can practice these things on your Spectre, but my suggestion is to get a large 7 cell tha you will wing load around 0.65.This will get you ready on the canopy piloting side of things. This is all just my opinion, and this is what I was taught and what I teach others.Hope this helps. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  6. are you back jumping Jason? http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  7. Ya that Jerimiah from Nor.Cal. was 1 lucky S.O.B.3 HOT ladys(Triple A Effect)all with him,and Dingo. They know who they are, special shout out to 1 of them, and she knows who I am talking about. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  8. I would get the line specs. from the manufacturer, and then I would find out if the lines were still in trim or not.I would check your brake settings to see if 1 is longer than the other.Hope this helps.I always get the specs. of my canopies, and make sure they are in trim before I jump them. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  9. It sounds like to me that you may have to take your toggle position up higher so that the tail comes down farther for flare.Have you had someone video your landings in these conditions and others.Video is a wonderful tool that should always be utilized.Sounds like you just need to readjust your toggle setting,or just take a rap.Hope this helps. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  10. Here in AZ we have about 2-3 jumpers averaging around 100,and 1 maybe 2 between 100-150,and probably only 1 going over 150. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  11. Hey anytime you want to come out to Phoenix,or if you are coming through drop me a line.I extend the invite to you.We have some jumps out here I'm sure you've heard.I can tell you more via e-mail.We will probably have another New Years Boogie at our cliff. Last years turn out was about 25 jumpers ranging from East coast to West coast.Nice hearing from you.E-mail me,and I'll send you my phone #. 12. You can buy it on Ebay pretty cheap.Jason are you going to TF Memmorial Day? Hope to see you there, C-YA,Mike http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  13. I just said foam for a lack of a better word.I am not sure what the name of it is,but it is alot like the Tempurpedic bed foam.It is used by NASA,and also alot in racecar seats. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  14. I was not trying to be confrontational.I was just trying to make a point.I'll just underline it next time. This is getting a little like the old bitch board. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  15. Where the hell did you come from? You should read my last post.I apologized about being misinformed about the helmets being DOT.Also I said that I would also modify my bonehead with extra foam.tHAT IS ALSO WHAT i SAID TO THE ORIGINAL PERSON WHO POSTED. READ EVRYTHING BEFORE YOU POST!! SOME GUYS ALWAYS HAVE TO GET IN THE MIX? http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  16. My apologies.I was under the wrong impression about those brain buckets that you were making. What would it take to make a basejumping helmet that would do all that we are saying here, and acomodate a topmount camera.Ofcourse it would have to be lightweight, offer good vision, have some facial coverage, and take the impacts we are talking about. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  17. http://boneheadcomposites.com/ http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  18. "A helmet that breaks on impact is not necessarily a bad thing." If my helmet breaks open most likely so is my head.I would like to have the best off both worlds.A helmet that will take an impact and will not break, but that has enough padding to give my head some protection. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  19. So you still have not told me what helmet you use. Also I do see your logic, and I do agree with some of it.Maybe we should take this up with Bonehead, and have them make a Base specific helmet, and camera helmet.Does this helmet you use have facial protection. If it works so great let me and everyone else know what it is. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  20. I agree ,and if you were to take a bonehead ,and put some impact padding in it you would have an all around great helmet. If you choose one of those skate helmets you are only getting the padding and that's it.When I get a bonehead I am going to put some impact padding in it. I HOPE THIS HELPS THE PERSON THAT STARTED THE THREAD.PUT EXTRA PADDING IN YOUR ILLUSION,AND YOU WILL HAVE A VERY SAFE HELMET FOR BOTH SPORTS. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  21. I would do more research if I were you.Bonehead makes more than just a Skydiving helmet. They make several DOT approved motorcycle helmets. They also make equestrian helmets. They also make helmets for pilots.I would have to say I would pick a company that made all these different tipes of helmets before I picked A skate company,BUT THAT'S JUST ME! What is your approved basejumping helmet? http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  22. I have modified the gath with some impact padding on the inside. My setup works for now,but I would rather have a Bone head of some configuration. The Bonehead would take a hell of an impact, and would not break, and if you are wearing a chincup you would have some face protection.Unlike most of the inexpensive helmets you talk about. They do not offer any facial protection. Also with the inexpensive helmets they do offer in most instances more padding, but they would split open easier than a Bonehead. OF COURSE THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  23. I would have to disagree with the other guys post.Carbon fiber is 1 of the strongest materials that they are making helmets out of today(except maybe the kevlar helmet).I think your optik would be great. As long as you stick with a top mounted camera you are doing well. That Illusion looks pretty bombproof.I am looking at buying a bonehead of some sort for base and skydiving.I use a Gath with a carbon fiber top mount. It works great for both base and skydiving.i HAVE QUITE A FEW BASE JUMPS WITH VIDEO WITH THIS CONFIGURATION.(MAYBE60-100)Hope this helps. STAY WITH CARBON FIBER YOU CAN'T GO WRONG. c-ya,mIKE http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  24. NO WORRIES!! http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
  25. If you were to read the entire post it says it is to be used as secondary. And if you are not smart enough to put in new batteries then you shouldn't be jumping. ALWAYS ONE IN EVERY CROWD!!!! http://freakboy066.tripod.com/
