  1. Wow, what a nice rig - great fit, comfortable and super customer service
  2. "Down by the river"? easiest way, register it in a company name, anyone can open a company for real cheap and use an address of someone you know. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  3. Fellow Commercial Pilot and Skydiver passed this afternoon. You will be missed by all Sandy You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime

  6. The "tens" digit that the Viso has is ridiculous when in freefall. I find the Neptune's larger digits much easier to read and it only shows "hundreds", I am also farsighted. Got it, Thanks You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  7. What do you mean the big numbers get smaller once you get out of the plane? I really need the thing to be readable as I use corrective lenses for both near and far. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  8. Thanks all for the advise, I will take into consideration all the comments here. Thanks again You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  9. Checked the archives and nothing for the last couple years that I could find. So if there is anything anyone would recommend I would appreciate a review. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  10. I do watch my canopy on opening because once I'm upright, the snivelling is fun to watch and any wack job is going to be pretty much immediate. About your comment on rogue hard openings; they do indeed seem to happen for a number of reasons on a variety of canopies. I also think there is a mystery behind the spectres reputation for the occasional slam, one that PD hasn't quite figured out yet. 11. Balls. I've been thinking of semi-retiring my Pilot and getting a Spectre (although larger than a 150) because my spine is roughly as old as you are. I'm reading this thread with considerable interest. Never had a hard opening with my Storm. Only one hard opening with my Pulse, and that was due to a packing issue identified before the jump. Pulse is a super soft opening, some call it the "old man's canopy." Had a Spectre 230 which had a hard opening late in 2010. Cracked 2 ribs, bruised my lung, suffered whiplash and screwed up my hip. That opening was so hard it wedged a steering handle into the ring "see pix". By the way, this was a hop & pop. This jump kept me out of the sport for 3 months. Meanwhile I sent it to the factory where they evaluated it and didn't find anything wrong. I followed someones advise and had it converted to dacron lines but I never did trust the canopy again so I ordered another one. I just can't afford to be wacked again like that I have over 450 jumps on the newer spectre which is a 190 with dacron lines. Though I never experienced a hard opening, I'm expecting one since they do happen on occasion to many different models. Could be out of sequence deployment or any number of reasons, but I think the dacron will keep me out of the hospital should I encounter one like that. 13. I doubt it. I do not know about every Para-Foil that Jim & Gary Lewis built after hours at Para-Gear, but to the best of my knowledge, all of those canopies were either white/blue or red/white/blue. But, then again, they may have made something that I am not aware of. JerryBaumchen PS) Just to ad: All of the Para-Foils that Jim & Gary built had the 'A' lines going to the front riser & the "B' and 'C' and 'D' lines all were cascaded and went to the rear riser. Jerry, I don't remember anything about what he made with others including Gary but the one he jumped and told me "he" made was the same color in the photos here. 14. or they could publish it in german only English is the recognized international language in aviation and skydiving is aviation. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  15. Looks like a canopy made by Jim Lowe when he worked for Paragear back in the early to mid 70's. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  16. These service bulletins like aircraft SB's need to be translated by people fluent in both languages before they are released; that means the grammar too. Otherwise you get a bunch of twisted shit like in the report you shared with us. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  17. I was having the same issues with my Cypress I. In addition, it turned itself off about 5 times in 1 month last July so I think the same problem runs deeper than their bulletin states. Went with the Vigil because I got sick of the never-ending broken promises of delivery dates in addition to the turning-off issue You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  18. There are DZ's that take kids but I don't know of any in Florida, just Wisconsin. PM me for details. The 16 and even 18 year restrictions are stupid. I started jumping at 16 and the FAA says a 14 year old can solo a glider and get a license at 15. The same should apply to Skydiving. You can solo a powered airplane at 16 and get a license to fly anywhere you wish with passengers at 17 And here we are with 18 year old restrictions to simply ride as a passenger: STUPID You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
