  1. If you go the invoice routine, make sure it says for merchandise or products ONLY and "not" services & products. Merchandise and/or products qualify for protection and a refund, anytime you, or the seller uses "services", it disqualifies any charge-back. 2. Anyone know if he had a son named Chris who was a skydiver? You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  3. They are all great. Its interesting to watch a lot of scenes that are much longer than the typical cut. Hitchcock demanded these long scenes where the actors had to memorize a shitload of material. Some drag on for minutes. 4. At our DZ, there is a sign in plain sight in the room where Tandems get geared up; "TIPPING IS CERTAINLY APPRECIATED" which of course prompts most to tip. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  5. Made 1 jump on a friends sometime in the mid 70's. Spun me so hard I got dizzy while it opened. I though they had a split tail which was the culprit and heard that some jumpers had it sewn together to eliminate many of its problems. 6. I personally know 3 Pilots who had stints as well as bypass surgery. One is Commercially Rated and flyies passengers regularly. They all got their medicals back after a 6 month wait and certain testes which included stress and electrocardiogram reports that read favorably. I'm sure their are quite a few others out there as well. I see no reason why someone couldn't jump again. The FAA Medical Office is convinced that these procedures are good enough for Pilots to safely carry passengers. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  7. Thats a tough one. I know USPA requires their DZ's to report Tandem malfunctions, however I don't know whether they also require totals. Someone here should know. You also have the non-USPA DZ's. Good Luck You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  8. I think a lot of people quit due to fear in the static line days. There was a lot to learn and a lot to remember. With the invent of the tandem, there isn't a lot to learn or do on the first few jumps. And for those who go on their initial fear of the unknown has also diminished. 9. I think Mr. D had Pratt & Whitney 1830-94's which are 1350 HP each. Some of the murals from the plane are in Marks's shed in Florida. but there are some more that have to come out of the plane yet. Does anyone know about the DC-3 that crashed in Z-Hills in 1993? I saw its remains the other day but any name that would have been on it are long gone. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  10. Yeah, they are great if you need a nap You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  11. I would check out their web sites, they should show the availability and area motels. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  12. The Storm sounds like it might be nice, but the snappy opening bothers me. I love the soft snivel openings I get with my Spectre and I find the flare sufficient. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  13. There are 3 for the guys anyway. The ones by the tent at the side gate entrance, the one skymama mentioned by the restaurant and one in the mens room. I don't think any one of them is unsanitary as they do a pretty good job of keeping them clean. I would wear shower shoes in any public shower anyway You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  14. You wouldn't feel unsafe if you had a gun ready and a willingness to shoot anyone in the face that tried to take your property. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  15. Rule 1, stay out of minority neighborhoods. You are asking for trouble. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  16. Great phot's, thanks for sharing. Anyone know what they use for the charge? You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  17. I personally like the Positive Leverage Closing Device or T-Bar type sold in the industry, however I use gutted 550 for the pull-up cord as the thinner types tend to break from the strain at the end slots (see pic). 19. I deleted my post until I can verify what I always thought to be factual. But I do think there is an arming altitude at a point above the firing altitude. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  20. 45 is a bit young for a heart attack, But I agree its possible. Could be he got hit during RW and got knocked silly or something. Regardless its a terrible tragedy. Regarding the altitude settings discussed here, what should also be be considered is a Cypress set to fire at 750ft arms itself at 1200 ft. Raising it 500 ft means its arming close to 1800 ft. That may be fine for some jumpers but thats way to close for a canopy that snivels, by design or not. I like the present setting. 21. It is indeed a good idea to take care of your customers. I would, however, suggest that it is more important to take care of the jumpers at a DZ than posters on DZ.com. When you are choosing what market demographic to please, a DZ is much better served by caring for frequent jumpers vs. DZ.commers. Yes, but it proves what I said before about some Skydivers pretending to be business people. Many are great, but in Spacelands case they show what they truly are. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  22. Given the time this thread has been running, I'm surprised to see Spaceland hasn't tried to defend their policy of cheating people. Its important to know though, so we can all spread the word on probably the SLEAZIEST operators in the business. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  23. I don't hate the French. For those that do, I understand they are simply ignorant and jealous, common for those who are intellectual challenged and know nothing about France. The US Government is partially to blame for any unwarranted criticism. France has a more efficient form of government where their people enjoy a higher standard of living. 24. I was still in my teens and Riggers were scarce in the early 70's, at my DZ anyway. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  25. Circa 1972 The 6 jump course at my DZ was $75, but I took the pay-as-you-go plan. $45 for jump 1 and $10 for the next 5 which included the clear & pull. Experienced jumper rates were $2.50 to 2,500 ft, $4.00 to 7,200 ft. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
