  1. I haven't injured a knee, but know people that have and know that they can be tricky. Do what the doc says. I would ask about Kinesio Tape. It may help speed along the healing process and will at least likely help with the swelling. That stuff is amazing! Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
  2. Anyone that skydives in Lincoln (or the Sac area for that matter) know anyone who would loan us gimps a golf cart? I used to live there and there's got to be a couple thousand golf carts in Del Webb alone. Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
  3. Sacramento (SMF), but I could pick you up in San Jose (SJC) too or Monterey (MRY). I live in Monterey, but will drive through San Jose on the way. The Sac airport is only 15 miles from Davis. Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406

  12. I saw this on my local news last night. Witnesses say that she was awake for the entire thing and approved all the artwork. Then when her dad saw her face and said "WTF!?!" her response was, "Daddy, I fell asleep and look what he did to me!" I hate liars! Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
  13. I read them all the time. Its my daily entertainment! There have been a couple of times where I thought to myself, "hmmm, I wonder if that's who I think it is," especially when they include pics with a missing face. Set up an anonymous email account and reply to the ad. That's what I did when curiosity got the better of me. Sure enough it was this guy I know from work. When he sent me his pic I just responded with, "its a small world, we work at the same place and I don't get involved with people from work. Good luck in your search." The CL world is definitely a small one! Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
  14. Let me see if I have this right? You can't land during the day, so you thought it was a good idea to do a night jump, when depth perception is harder? You are lucky you only sprained an ankle, and should take this time off to consider taking this sport more seriously. First of all, my issue isn't depth perception (which happens to be pretty good), its the difference in canopies I was flying 15 years ago from those of today (F-111 vs ZP). This glide thing is new to me and I feel like everything I learned flying my first 81 jumps is out the window. Second, I'm not crashing and burning my landings. Sometimes I stand them up, sometimes I don't, sometimes I have to run them out and sometimes I get dropped from a much too early flare. I would just like to get consistent stand up landings every time. I'm not trying to become the next swoop superstar, just trying to understand and become proficient in the dynamics of today's ZP canopies. Third, I take the sport very seriously and have been asking for advice, but what I have been getting is not anything near what I've received in this forum (by the way, thanks again everyone, I really do appreciate it!). It isn't for a lack of trying, but more a lack of knowledge. Most of the jumpers at my DZ have never jumped a F-111 canopy (because apparently they were all in elementary school when I started jumping) and can't explain the difference to me. Fourth, this was my second night jump since getting back in the sport and my landing wasn't the cause of the injury. If is wasn't for the effing gopher hole I stepped in (as previously mentioned), there would be no mention of an injury. Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
  15. I would love to come to Skydance and take the canopy course, but unfortunately I am suffering from a sprained ankle I got after my night jump this past weekend. I actually thought it would be one of my better landings until my foot found a gopher hole. Anyone who has jumped in Hollister knows what a hazard they can be! Thanks everyone for all the advice, I will definitely try the flaring techniques when I am back in the air again. Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
  16. I just started jumping again after a 15 year absence from the sport. When I jump backed then the canopies I flew were all F-111. I find that I'm having to relearn to fly canopies. They've really changed in the past 15 years! With all that being said, I'm having issues with flaring. I've been told that I'm flaring too high, but have yet to be advised on when I should start my flare. I've been flying 170's at a 1:1 wing loading ratio. I'm not attempting swoops at this point, just straight in approaches. Any advice? Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
  17. I wanted to try it after my dad started jumping when I was 12. Knew I had to do it when I went on my first observer ride when I was 13/14. My parents and I lied about my age and I made my first static line on my 15th birthday. It was also the day I had my first reserve ride and was tossed across the sky after cutting away from a spinning malfunction. That's the instant adrenaline became my crack. 18 years later, I'm still an addict.
  18. I started jumping when I was 15. If you want something from a teens perspective, I'm willing to help. Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406

  21. Welcome to the skies! I did 79 jumps between 1990-1993 and just got current again two weeks ago, so I'm kind of a newbie again. I do get nervous on my jumps only because I don't want to be the one ti f#@k up the jump because I've been out of the sport so long (btw I've done great, just like riding a bike). Just be sure to relax and try not to over think things. Be sure to dirt dive your jump as many times as it takes until you are comfortable with it. Mentally go over the jump as many times as that takes too. If you are unsure of anything ASK! It may also help to practice your arch on the ground first. Smile, jump, arch, relax and enjoy the blue skies! It'll come.
  22. I did all my jumps 90-93 then one in 96 another one in 01 and just got current again with the intent of staying consistent with it this time. Each time I called the DZ first to find out what the requirements would be. I basically had to do a refresher course. They put me in the harness and ran me through the different types of malfunctions, etc. Be sure to review the SIM since some things may have changed since you last jumped. They definitely did for me! In all honestly, it was just like riding a bike. I wasn't nervous at any point in the process. The instructor was impressed with my level of recall and cleared me after only one jump. How many jumps it takes for you to get cleared will depend on how ready your instructor feels you are. Being back in the air was awesome! After that first jump, I got on the next load and made a solo jump from 18k. It was pretty sweet! Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
  23. How the hell are ya? My dad is great. he just got married in February. He's been out of the sport a while, but think he's wanting to get back in now that I got current. Its a small world. Steph's husband Peter was my refresher instructor. I can't believe she's married with kids. Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
  24. I did all of my training in Paso Robles because my dad was pretty good friends with the DZO (I was in my teens when I started) and made the majority of my jumps in Paso and Madera. I lived closer to Hollister, but they weren't USPA certified/insured at the time. Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
  25. I did most of my jumps in the early 90's and just got current in Hollister yesterday. I got to go up to 18k on my first solo jump out of retirement. It was pretty sweet. My refresher instructor mentioned this site and so I thought I would check it out. Adrenaline is my crack DPH #3 D.S. #16 FAG #12 Muff Brother #4406
