  1. I have a pair of Bose A20's that I use for flying. Almost too good at canceling out sound. The first couple of times I turned them on, I thought the engine died! No real issues with my glasses, but they make an on-ear version of the headphones (you won't need to get the A20s, maybe a pair of QCs or something?) 2. The X-ray was taken, processed and had to be read by a radiologist. It's not their fault if the doctor didn't communicate the results. 3. It's pretty hard to get fired here, some of the workforce is proof of that, they drag ass and are habitual work shirkers, but they still make top dollar because they haven't gotten fired and have just eventually gotten enough raises to max them out. They wouldn't survive a technical interview, much less a job at a place that requires them to work. I have had to, on almost a weekly basis, cover my ass here. Usually it gets me some nasty looks from the people that I have documentation are being the ones slowing progress... Nobody is ever waiting on me. My manager hates at meetings when they ask if there are any questions or comments, when I pipe up... Even to the point of giving me an imaginary counseling (doesn't exist in my records) to try to deter me from doing it again. I don't care, they can fire me if they want, but the truth will be spoken and all of my peers see that. 4. Your tunnel time should help your freefall, and minute for minute, it's faster and cheaper than working on those issues during an actual skydive. As far as where to pick back up, expect a review on the ground of emergency procedures and normal procedures for canopy flight and skydiving in general. I would believe most DZs would send you out with two but some DZs would send you with one instructor, probably at a lower level to help knock the cobwebs off. At your experience level, taking 8 months off is a LONG time, so expect to go over just about everything and to start your skydives at a lower level. The instructors aren't bringing you down a level or two for the money, they want to make sure you're safe. All of that being said, don't let your nerves get to you. If you're freaking out a little because of the emergency procedures, ask to do a working tandem to come back. That way you have a little help strapped to your back in the unlikely event that something should happen. Many of us have gone hundreds (and a few have gone thousands) of jumps with no major malfunctions. While the possibility is there every time you get on the plane, proper planning and maintenance of the equipment will go far in keeping you safe. 5. He's one of the guys in the office I could easily do this to, and he would get a kick out out of it. Would just be a pain in the ass to remove it from the desk. 6. Corporate life. I hate it, I find reasons to go out into the field to get away from it. I swear, some days it's WORSE than Office Space. A friend of mine does that at work with his mouse, usually when he's pissed off at the system for not working properly. Of course, he is the server admin, so I can't even tell him to call the guys who can fix it, cause it's him! 8. Maybe it would be a little more noticeable if the message about it not attaching was down around the attachment options instead of up above the message box. 9. I never said it would, I see it as being a marketing gimmick more than anything else. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  10. I could understand it if someone wanted just a bike to ride to work on sunny days, but much more than that would be hard to justify to me. I wonder if they're going to use the Tesla patented charging systems and how that whole system will pan out. Also wonder what the re-charge time would be for such a small battery, but even with a short recharge time, 53 miles per charge is pretty dang short. 14. Were you guys able to look at the suggestion I posted in that other thread? Seems like it'd work. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  15. John, What are your thoughts about instead using say the Cypres silicon on the Type IIA sheathing instead of the cable itself? 17. That car wash guy is getting paid what? $10/hr and is just worried about getting the car clean enough to drive off into the sunset. The rigger has worked to earn a FAA certificate and is responsible for INSPECTING and packing that pile of parts you just ordered. Would you want it put together (assuming all new parts) by someone just worried about getting it done to move on, or would you want someone who will take the time, do it right and possibly find the lines that aren't bartacked? Oh, and that whole thing is a life saving device EVERY TIME YOU USE IT. A dirty car is hardly on the same scale. Then there's the fact that if something happens involving your gear, the FAA may be digging all up in the ass of that rigger, even if they hadn't fucked anything up. Bitching about $60 for an A-I-R is pretty shallow. Especially since I know riggers across the country may already be charging more. 18. I learned to adjust the harness prior to boarding for a secure fit, then in the plane, I don't tighten anything more than 2". Not that I think the harness is loose, but it does make the people feel a little more secure that they're not going to fall out. Also I end up adjusting the belly and back straps after I have the laterals hooked up to even it out a little bit (so the belly strap isn't super tight and the back strap is loose). I too see people crank the MLW down in the plane and I never saw a reason to do it myself. 20. Well, I have seen quite a few little turtles running around, especially in the pond behind my house (in Brandon). "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  21. Funny you mention that. When the previous owner did the install, they cut into the line going to the fridge instead of running a new one... a COPPER line. I figure, at best, the line is compromised in my eyes, so I ran a new plastic line to the fridge and did a good flush of the systems (water and ice) to make sure all of that crap is out. Sometimes the easiest jobs take the most time. While working on this, I realized my disposal was corroded and saw a couple pin hole leaks, so I replaced that as well. 24. Why? - he's made it to age 90. What's the worst that could possibly happen? Seriously. Yay George. Former president of the US dies while skydiving. Bet that would make the news. 25. It looked like low ceilings and it was probably easier to load up in the LZ than to convoy to the airport and take off from there, then land back at the LZ.
