  1. Sounds rather interesting, Have there been any safety issues documented with using a Teflon pin ? Dale A man's dreams are an index to his greatness. - Zadok Rabinwitz
  2. How many Jumps do you have ? This will give me a better idea on how to advise you. Im no guru on the subject, but if you weigh 190 without gear you should probably weigh about 220 max with gear. Therefore your wing load will be about 1.15 lbs / 1 square foot. This is a fairly light wing load. Im sure that 20 - 30 jumps will be enough to handle this wing loading and you shouldnt get bored too quickly. If you jump a 210 your wing load will be 1.04lbs / 1 square foot which is pretty low, you would probably get bored rather quickely. That was just an opinion, As I said Im no expert, so rather speak to someone with more experience in this subject. Good luck with your choice "My exit weight is 254lbs which gives me a wing loading of 1.33 on a 190, performance is good, but not out of hand" Dale
  3. How steep is the Hill, What gradient are we looking at here Dale
  4. Either hes using you or hes not man enough to face up to his feelings - My opinion - Dump him, theres lots of guys out there who will give you what you want. Good luck Dale
  5. To all you experienced Skydivers/Photographers. This is merely a question as I do not intend on doing freefall Photography just yet as I do not have the experience yet. I would however like to get into Skydiving photography though as photography is currently a hobby of mine and I would like to expand that into my Skydiving. When would the right time be to get into this discipline and what steps would you recommend in order to improve my flying skills, so that when I am really experienced enough I can get into this discipline effectively. All comments will be appreciated Cheers Dale

    I quit!

Congrats Lisa, hope you manage to keep it up. I unfortunately am still finding it rather difficult to quit especially when Im out on the Piss (Drinking). Dale
  7. I agree fully that helmets should be worn, especially when jumping with other people. Ive heard alot of people say that, with their skills and awareness, they can do without a helmet. The way I see it, no matter how good you are or rather how good you may think you are, there is always margin for error no matter if its you or someone else on the dive. Imagine being knocked so hard that you end up not dead but with brain damage. Nice that would be quite a sentence for trying to look cool. Just my 2 cents Dale
  8. Hi SilentJ Follow your heart man, I started skydiving in 1993 and since then have been in and out of the sport, due to many different reasons, however I have always regarded myself as a skydiver and have never allowed that passion to die, Now that skydiving has become much more affordable for me I have started again (about 10 weeks ago) after a long three year layoff. Ill never regret starting up again and I wont be having anymore layoffs as my goal is to get pro rating within the next three to four years. Keep your passion for skydiving fired up ! Cheers Dale
  9. [qoute]Someone has just deployed beneath you and slammed into you. You have a compound break in your femur, and your leg is now in front of you. You can't roll onto your belly because the new position of your leg makes you pretty stable on your back. You're at 4000 feet. Would you open your main or your reserve? I think I would open my main first to get better position and then cut away and fire the reserve. Id rather land a slower 7cell reserve than a smaller semi elliptical with a broken leg. Dale

    Selfish

Ive been there, I think every situation needs to be individually assessed, but if the other half continues to try and prevent you from what you from doing what you love, then fuck it.... its not worth been put on a guilt trip everytime you want to SKYDIVE.... My advice tell them F.I.F.O (Fit in or F... off) Its not been Selfish unless you dont give thenm any time. Dale

    Cypres Charge!

I think as long as you declare the luggage before checking in there shouldnt be any problems, but then I guess it all depends where you are going as some security officials are just plain stubborn and refuse to listen to anyone. There is an article about this exact issue in one of the skydive magazines issued by the BPA. I cant remember what issue it is though, but I think it is December 2000 (not sure though) Dale
  14. That is awsome, how the hell did he get that right SPEED... Dale
  15. Try Quicktime, it worked for me Dale
  16. Well for me it started as a childhood dream at about the age of 5, I always wanted to be a (army parachutist). When I eventually did reach military service I decided rather to take up sports parachuting as it involved freefall, squares etc. I went to the local DZ did a static line course and slowly but surely progressed to my current level. If theres one thing that makes me tick, its skiydiving. To cross that threshhold into the open Sky....Well Im sure you all agree that theres no better feeling. Blue Skies Dale
  17. According to the results, it looks like that theory is not too accurate, Looks like its between youngest and first born. Dale
  18. Thanks chuck, I hope to see more posts like that ! I could learn alot. Dale
  19. It all depends on what you can afford and how long you intend keeping the rig. I have just bought my first rig brand new simply because I bought it when I was on holiday in South Africa at a very affordable price, Second hand gear including Cypres would probably cost about the same in GBP. I intend keeping the rig for about 200 jumps which means I should be able to get a decent price for it when Im ready to sell. The advantage of a new rig is itll fit properly, especially for me at 6ft4 230lb. The Choice is yours ! Dale
  20. Just one question ? I have just ordered my rig which should be ready in about 3 weeks. The rig is cordura, but my colour spec did not allow for one Neon Green on the starburst to be cordura, I chose parapak only for that colour, will this be a problem, will the two different fabrics look O.K. together ? Cheers Dale
