  1. Excellent article, I agree 100% what you are saying. Id just like to add that if you look at some of the best skydivers out there they are all primarily concerned about safety, what bugs me about this sport is people who are subject to DZ peer pressure, I almost lost a freind because he wanted to be COOL, wanted to look cool etc. Id rather enjoy the ride and progress slowly, because being dead is not cool. 7. Its really all about what you can afford, I would suggest trying to buy cheaper brand new equipment such as the hornet main and Vortex 2 container, both made in South Africa. Ive just bought a full system made in South Africa and the quality is superb, dont let the price put you off. The only reason its cheaper is because of the foreign exchange rate. The nice thing about new is, its flashy, it fits and its not someone elses hand me down. Cheers Dale A man's dreams are an index to his greatness. - Zadok Rabinwitz
  8. Hi Ren..... I personally dont have any experience with "The Parachute manual" I do however own "Parachuting - A Skydivers Handbook" by Dan Poynter and Mike Turnoff which gives fairly good info all round but is a little outdated. The best resource for canopy construction, Flight dynamics etc is most definitely an online book by Brian Burke. He really does a good job with this. Here is the link : http://www.skydiveaz.com/resources/book_canopy.htm Hope this gives you what your'e looking for. Cheers Dale A man's dreams are an index to his greatness. - Zadok Rabinwitz
  9. In reply to: "I hear ya! That's why I quit... oh. Wait. Sorry. You weren't talking about _that_ kind of herb were you? " I guess adding a bit of that would add an interesting twist to your meal ! Sounds good. Dale A man's dreams are an index to his greatness. - Zadok Rabinwitz

  11. O.K. Magistr8 Here is something that you will really like especially if you like Spicy...(Thai Green Curry) Its not hot so dont worry but its a really tasty meal. You will need the following ingredients: 6-8 Spring onions 2-3 sticks of lemon grass (about 1-2 inches per stick) 3 cloves Garlic About 1 Tablespoon fresh ginger 4 - 6 Green Chillies (according to taste) 3 Limes 1 400ml can of Coconut cream 1 handfull pestachio nuts (shelled) 400g Skinned, Deboned Chicken or Turkey breast 2 good handfulls fresh Bazil 3 good handfulls fresh Coriander (Dont skip this one) Pinch Salt Pinch Black Pepper 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil First you will make the currey paste, This is how its done: Take the Sping onions, 2 sticks of Lemon grass, garlic, ginger, chillies, bazil, corriander and chop it in a food processor until it makes a paste or if you dont have a food prcessor just chop everything really fine (When I say fine I mean really fine). Grate the zest from the limes and add it to your paste, use the juice of the limes in your paste and also add the salt, pepper and olive oil. Cut the chicken into thin strips or blocks (whichever you prefer) Mix half the paste with the chicken and then cook in a wok or hot pan until chicken is slightly cooked (about 5mins) Than add the rest of the paste and the coconut milk and allow to simmer for about 15 mins until the liqued has thickened consistantly. Add the crushed pistachio nuts just before serving and stir into the chicken or leave sprinkled on top. Serve with Basmati rice or Jasmine rice and a small salad. Try this, its really good. 12. Hi Everybody I have a freind who will be bringing my new equipment back from South Africa. What advise do you have regarding carrying equipment either as hand luggage or in the hold. Has anyone here had problems with airport officials etc. I know that the cypres has been a problem before when transporting Parachuting equipment. Any suggestions and advise will be appreciated. 15. I think having to actually read the digital while in a dive must take some getting used to. Id probably stick with a regular analog. 1st lesson in safety is to stick to what you are familiar with. If you are going to use a Digitude wear both a digitude as well as an analog until you are used to the digitude. I think a digitude must be nice once the canopy is open, probably more accurate. 16. I like the idea of "Pats" Mount, since it is always visible during freefall, but as far as making it myself is concerned, I couldnt be asked. There is a similar mount called the wedge, which is made by a German company called lookma who also make other skydiving accesories such as weightbelts etc. Check out this page http://www.lookma.de/Starting_Page/Products/_The_Wedge_/_the_wedge_.html What do you think ? 18. I dont think the type of Canopy would be of any relevance when trying to distinguish between Freeflying and FS. However the container you choose must be freefly freindly or else you will experience premature deployment. The only time the type of canopy would really make a difference is if you are thinking of partaking in any type of canopy discipline such as CReW, Accuracy, Swooping. 19. In Reply to: "Then you are going to have to change all the people who are veterens and addicts who are on student status." I agree 100%, Ive seen people with "Addict" and "Veteran" status, go back to their profiles and they barely have 20 jumps ! I think it should be based of Jump numbers. 20. I say go for the Hornet, Very good canopy for an excellent price, packing is also easy because of the colour coded line attachments and softer ZP fabric. Dale A man's dreams are an index to his greatness. - Zadok Rabinwitz

    FreeFlying

Hi Id like to learn to freefly, what are the best techniques to practice and how do I do them ? Any suggestions and advise will be appreciated. Everytime I try and get into a sit position, it lasts for about a second and then ends up almost like a backloop. Thanks Dale A man's dreams are an index to his greatness. - Zadok Rabinwitz
