  1. About as much as he pays attention to anything else.
  2. That far north, the sun doesn't set in the summer. According to google that's from April 20th and August 22nd. Of course, the sun doesn't rise for an equal period of time during the winter.
  3. As a regular on a couple car forums, I have to say: Yeah, that ain't gonna buff out. One article on the results of the attack: https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/russian-submarine-shows-massive-damage-after-ukrainian-strike Gotta love the statement that "this is an ex-submarine'. I have to wonder how much the Russians are going to 'finish' destroying it before the Ukrainians show up. Not sure how much intelligence info the "West" needs on an obsolete diesel/electric sub, but I'm sure they'd love the chance to get a close look at it.
  4. From the Elon Musk thread: The Ukrainian MoD released a statement about this attack. 10 missiles were launched, 7 were shot down. The 3 that made it through did considerable damage. The Kilo-class sub and the amphibious landing ship Minsk were in the dry-dock and along with the dry-dock, were badly damaged*. Depending on where in the repair process they were, both vessels are somewhere between 'badly damaged' and 'totally fucked'. In any case, given the Russian ability to do ANYTHING, those ships AND the repair facility is going to be out of commission for a while. Probably a long while. Given that Sevastopol is the only large scale repair facility in the Black Sea, the Russian navy is in big(er) trouble. 10 Storm Shadows is a lot, but the results speak for themselves. Also, Ukrainian Special Forces took back 2 oil platforms. Despite Russian claims that all the attacking boats were sunk, and all the soldiers killed, they managed to take control of both. This deprives the Russians of a significant surveillance capability. And of a lot of rather expensive gear. Combined with the Ukrainians doing lots of damage to the Russian anti-aircraft systems across the Crimean peninsula, the ability to take out MORE Russian assets is growing. * - The damage to the repair facilities is huge. Many historians believe that the biggest failure of the Japanese at Pearl Harbor was not destroying the dry-dock facilities. It allowed the US to get most of the damaged ships back in service fairly quickly. Much faster than if they would have had to be repaired in California.
  5. Also by the President who's had the most legislative success in recent memory.
  6. Yeah, he also seems to ignore the very simple fact that "Hurricane Season" usually (like almost always) starts off slow, then picks up in September & October. So all of his "THERE"S NO HURRICANES!!!!!!" shit early on is far more of a 'Sure, not YET,"
  7. Why? He never really had a platform. For the 2020 election, the Rs just reprinted the 2016 paperwork. Including the parts that said (more or less) "Stop all the policies of the current President". Which, in 2016 was Obama, but in 2020 was Trump. So the 2020 platform actually said they wanted to stop Trump's policies. What makes you think they're going to be any more organized or coherent?
  8. Right. Until the patent expires, and generics become available, it's a legal monopoly. For bidding on government contracts, lots of vendors have the opportunity to participate. Not so with the patent protected drugs.
  9. Actually, it was the other way around. Minorites had to be super careful to NOT be 'too good'. Because if one of the 'good ole boys' got his feelings hurt when one of them outshone him, it got ugly. LIke 'dead' ugly.
  10. I'm going to go a bit on the 'optimistic' side and say they'd allow Trump to be removed from the ballot. Alito & Thomas will do what their owners say, Barret might defer to the 'man in charge' as her religious beliefs dictate, but I'd think Roberts & Kavanaugh would vote for removal. Both are very mindful of how history will judge them. Of course, I could be totally wrong on that.
  11. Hasn't 'moved there', that has been his MO since he arrived. It's just that he's getting frustrated and it's showing. Jay - Did you ever actually READ the Bible? From some of your statements a few pages back, I kinda doubt it.
  12. The fact that there was no record of it being placed is a pretty good 'tell'. Most of the time, those sorts of things are reported fairly well. The people who place them want 'future people' to know to look for them. One interesting example: https://dyler.com/blog/355/miss-belvedere-the-car-that-became-a-time-capsule
  13. Well, most of the Branch Davidians believed that Koresh was the next Messiah. Most of them died (were martyred) for those beliefs. Does that mean Koresh was trustworthy? OTOH, many, many MANY child molestors are 'devout'. A lot of them are 'leaders' in the church. Youth pastors, Sunday school teachers, even ministers and priests. With all the current hatred towards the LGBTQ community, I've seen a bunch of "I'd rather have my kids hang out with Drag Queens than a Priest" mems out there. More than just a smidgeon of truth to that one. In the 'show me the evidence' department, this simple basic fact: So many 'men of God' are clearly scam artists and con men, sexual deviants and just plain awful people. The 'televangalists' are the worst, but not the only ones. Yet I see no indication that 'God' has a problem with this. You want me to believe in God? Explain why he allows these guys to continue pretending to represent Him.
  14. He's attempting to convince those people that are 'on the fence'. And to be able to tell all his buddies that he 'owned the libs' on here.
  15. Wrong. You are correct that you can't convince me. But evidence could. That 'supernatural act of God' would be very convincing. God could do that if he wanted to. If he actually existed. The OT is full of miracles, and all sorts of 'evidence'. However, it's also full of a lot of garbage, stuff that has been pretty much proven that it didn't happen. And we haven't seen an "according to Hoyle miracle" in a long time. What, did God go on strike? The 'concise Gospel' is just a retelling of the same story. One version of the story, and there are thousands. Yet yours is the 'truth'. No proof, just faith. And I honestly don't have a problem with that. What I have a problem with is people who claim to have 'evidence', yet when asked REPEATEDLY to provide it, fail to do so. While also failing to retract the claim. You don't admit that there's no evidence. You just claim 'no amount of evidence would be good enough'. The threats of 'eternal damnation' are also rather tiresome. Again, you want to believe it, go ahead. But don't imply that my not believing in your fairy tales will have any lasting effect.
  16. There's a fair amount of speculation that they ALL are. No clue why, Pence had to actively fight being involved in a criminal conspiracy, and the mob wanted to hang him. (still kinda sorry they never got their hands on him)
  17. Well, as far as "unnecessary obnoxious condescension" look in the mirror. And nobody here is arguing against an 'imaginary construct'. We're arguing against someone promoting it. Unless YOU are imaginary. And, by the way, you claimed a LOOOOOONG time ago that you had 'a 'preponderance of evidence' that God exists. Still waiting for it.
  18. Thank you. I mostly agree with the fear that R dominated (through gerrymandering) state legislatures will ignore the results of free & fair elections and install their choice of candidate. I have no clue how much they could get away with. The courts made it pretty clear that any claims of 'election fraud' need real proof. What would happen in court with a 'quasi-legal' election theft is a good question. Keep in mind that those trying to steal the Presidential election contemplated what would happen if the populace rose up and fought the theft. There were those who said "that's what the insurrection act is for", implying that they'd deploy the military to ensure their coup succeeded. There's been a fair amount of discussion about that in a wide variety of places. General conclusions, from people who seem to know what they're talking about are that it would have gotten bloody. Some troops would have put down protests over Trump's theft. Most, however, would have remembered that their loyalty (and their oath) is to the Constitution, not the President. So the troops that fired on protestors would likely receive fire from other troops. And once it started getting bloody, the protestors would also shoot back. Just because the Right Wing nutcases insist on prancing around with all their guns, pretending to be tough, don't forget that they AREN'T the only ones with guns.
  19. Ummmmm... Because Biden isn't a delusional dumbass? Edit to add: Seen elsewhere: Most people adjust their opinions to reflect reality. However, there are 2 groups that adjust reality to reflect their opinions. Very powerful people. Very stupid people.
  20. I have yet to see or hear God do ANY of the 'threatening'. It's always the 'true believers'.
  21. He CLAIMED TO BE. What he really is remains to be seen. His avatar pic is pretty telling. Hey Jay - I'm still waiting for your 'preponderance of evidence' for the existence of God.
  22. 1 - What did the rental agreement say about damage and who's responsible for it? You did read the agreement before you signed it, right? 2 - FAR 105. By rule, the packer should have either been a rated rigger or 'under the direct supervision' of one. That particular argument has been beaten to a 'horse smoothie' several times. In any case, the person packing it is responsible for inspecting it. So is the jumper. There really isn't any regulated 'inspection schedule' for mains.
