  4. I really think it is a good idea to get a suit that fits right no matter your age. Tunnel time is too expensive to let a bad suit get in the way of your learning process. I've had students that build bad habits around their suit fitting poorly that continue to cause problems down the road even after they get a proper fitting suit. Not only from the learning angle, but it is way more fun to fly without being whipped around by a suit. My advice is a uniform material across the body that fits fairly snug, especially if your son is tall and skinny. However you need to get there at the right price is up to you. The sewing machine could be a good option for you. Indoor Skydiving Source - The Leading Indoor Skydiving Resource

  11. It is difficult to give you an X amount of hours answer: Physically the type of flying matters greatly. A slow speed, movement focused approach is much easier on the body. Longer rotations (3-5 minutes and beyond) are realistic and thus you can fly more time. A high speed static approach comes with more physical exertion and normally shorter rotations. On top of that, mentally we all have limits. You tire mentally and physically at different rates. Lack of rest during a week of solid camp can have you hit a mental wall and the value of your time can drop significantly. My suggestion is to decide on a coach based on your preference for flying style. After you find a coach, go into all the details of your physical and mental state/limits as best you can. Trust their progression (you chose them) and discuss a realistic amount of time to book based on their recommendation. Indoor Skydiving Source - The Leading Indoor Skydiving Resource

  13. I know I made the assumption that this was a 14 footer earlier, but have you seen something published that confirms this will be a 14 footer? Be careful lumping 'all the new ones' together - iFLY is building a good number of 12 footers and even a 16. 16. My guess is a 12 footer. The rendering of the Sacramento location: http://www.indoorskydivingsource.com/photos/ifly-sacramento-rendering/ looks the same as the two Brazilian tunnels which are 12 footers via the Skyventure Site: http://www.skyventure.com/tunnels/locations/ I could be wrong and that rendering is just a new style or isn't tied to the size of the tunnel in any way. Just guessing. Indoor Skydiving Source - The Leading Indoor Skydiving Resource

  21. The BizJournals article says: I wonder if this implies to the height of the flight chamber? I would guess the flight chamber at the new Houston location is about that tall, hopefully this implies the tunnel will be a 14 foot, ground level model similar to the Woodlands location in Houston. 23. Unless you are doing dynamic ff, which at 19 jumps I doubt, a 12' tunnel will do just fine. Calling SVNH a novelty is quite laughable. I can agree with your point, you can learn to fly in anything. Be careful though as jump numbers don't influence desire to fly in a certain manner. I use all of that 14 feet with my beginner students just as much as with my advanced students. Also, to be clear I wasn't calling New Hampshire a novelty. I was saying if you were flying as a novelty - meaning going for a one off session vs going to fly a significant amount of time. Indoor Skydiving Source - The Leading Indoor Skydiving Resource
  24. New Hampshire will be the closest, but I would recommend making the trip to Virginia Beach if you are going to train and not just fly for a novelty. A 14 foot tunnel is much more practical. Indoor Skydiving Source - The Leading Indoor Skydiving Resource
