  2. Hey, I am at work, and thought I would post here in case any one happened to know off the top of their head, I know I can work it out later when I get home. Any ideas how heavy and rough dimentions an average size rig is? (how long is a peice of string blar blar) Its a Javlin TJN containing a 120, & 106 canopy... Thanks http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  3. Sorry if it's a re-post. but I thought this was v cool. George http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=106463&fr=&cache=1 http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  4. That body armour would have probably helped Sean, base 621. His rib cut his aorta and killed him, the rib protector may have prevented this...or maybe not. George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  5. Very sorry to hear this, he was a really great guy and i will miss him. Very sad. George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  6. On my Mojo I use one break setting for slider up and slider down. On my Troll I use two settings, deep and shallow. I think 4 break settings are a little excessive, but I know some people use 3 settings. Main thing is to be dialed in and comfortable about your settings, and how it will react in a variety of situations and conditions. George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  7. Hi all, sorry if this is a re-post, but i dont check the swooping pages much.. 11. Jessie made her return jump in norway this summer after a 10 yr lay off (she did great!) and then went on to jump BD this year, welcome back Jessie! http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  12. Miss-routing PC when getting ready to jump. 1) Putting your rig on when your pilot chute is already out of its BOC. It can fall through a leg strap and you put it on without seeing the bridle routed through your leg strap. 2) If you don’t like stowing your PC in its BOC (because it can cause hessy if its been stuffed in BOC for a while) you should double check to ensure its routed cleanly from PC to pin or Velcro. When perched in jumping position, double check the bridle is routed cleanly from PC to pin not around you or the object... no. 101 on the list George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  13. Thanks G http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  14. Hi, Does anyone know the mountain rescue association in Romsdallen (Norway). In particular I was thinking about donations to them and how to get the money there.... Thanks George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com

  16. Richie...You are a legend!!!!! George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  17. Hi, If you are to use a ZP PC, I would highly recommend that you use a vented ZP PC with load tapes....Non vented ZP PC’s on terminal jumps have a tendency to oscillate and can potentially cause heading problems and malfunctions. Preferably (in my humble opinion) I would use a 36f111 pc for terminal jumps but that’s just personal choice. George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  18. Interesting you should bring this up as I have been thinking about this recently. Here are two great articles….. http://www.blincmagazine.com/cms/article_73.html http://www.blincmagazine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21532&highlight=dwain+deep+brake These days after speaking to a few of the top base jumpers this summer, I am re-thinking my DBS. One jumper whose opinion I really respect, I don’t want to name him as he did not say I could publicly quote him, has not used deep breaks for around 3 years. On my Mojo, I use my shallow setting on all objects as I have found that it stalls too easy in DBS. On my troll I use the DBS as it responds ok. I guess you really have to spend the time dialling in your canopy and get the setting that works for you and your configuration. You should be prepared to change setting dependant on object and conditions. I think that in the past it was recommended that you should have it set close to the stall point, my feelings is that this is not good if you cant get the response from the rear risers and that you should have more forward speed and better response on the risers. Be prepared to get on both rear risers in the event of a 180 and then let up on one to initiate the turn away… My thoughts anyway…. G http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  19. Hi, I belive it is with a UK jumper from Cornwall and thats where it stopped. I'm not sure how to get in contact with him... See post from basejumper.org To the best of my knowledge it's with the Doctor from Cornwall (aka whataplonka, aka Mr Ripley according to his one and only post) at the moment and has been for some time. 20. Hi Gillian. I hope your ok. My sincere condolences to everyone who new Adam, he was a lovely guy and it's really sad that he is no longer with us. Re the journalist using dropzone.com as a quote. You can hardly make a post on this forum and then get upset if someone uses the post. If you don’t want your thoughts to be made public, then don't post on the internet. The Journalist is just doing his job; at least he has taken the time to research what he was writing. Better that than the ones who just make shit up because they can’t be bothered with the research. George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  21. Hi, Line twists scare the hell out of me.... Do you a) Kick out of them before hitting an object? b) Try to climb above the twists and steer the canopy away first? c) Revert to the foetal position and start crying? How about trying to steer using toggles? ….Crazy to try??? My understanding is that you will be able to pull the toggle (steering the canopy away from an object.) but upon release, the toggle / line will stick, and you will continue to turn. How about pulling the other toggle to stop the turn when flying towards clear air space, then kicking out of the twists? Has anyone tried this from a plane, do you think this is really bad idea? I can imagine if you put too much input you are now at risk from a stall in line twists making the situation worse, but I could also see with a bit of practice that this could work and it would be a very quick way of turning the canopy… What would you have done here? http://www.nothingtoxic.com/media/1158059693/Base_Jumping_Gone_All_Wrong Answers on a postcard... 22. Hi, From what I hear, (third hand) is that a very nice, well liked Austrian jumper went in trying to clear a ledge on their terminal wall. I have heard that he had cleared the ledge previously without any problems. My sincear condolences to friends and family in what must be the hardest possible times. George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  23. I asume this is Joe, although there were some others who did some 90,000ft + jumps as well. Can you just imagine what it was like to be be up above the earth and just step off that balloon and drop into the vacume of space..amazing.... http://www.kontraband.com/show/show.asp?ID=3633&NEXTID=0&PREVID=2303&DISPLAYORDER=20060425144954&CAT=movies&NSFW=0&page=1&genre=0&rating=nsfw_sfw Can someone make clicky.... http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  24. Going back to sail sliders is heading the wrong way. Its pretty well proven that heading performance is degraded with a sail slider. Jumping something like kjerag with one is fine when all goes well, but when you go unstable have a shit track and end up close to the wall do you really want a sail slider. I think removable valve covers sounds like a good idea. http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
  25. I hope you can now rest in peace Rolleigh, it was good to hang out with you....... George http://georgechurchill.blogspot.com
