As an Engineer with engineering graduate degrees working in the US, I would recommend an MBA. I have found it would have been far more useful for career advancement to have done the B.Sc., work experience and then an MBA instead of an M.Sc.

Just yesterday I read an article about leadership skills you can learn from Captain Kirk. It was entertaining but had some good points in it. Here is one that stuck with me and you might find useful. There comes a time in your life when following your passion isn't viable anymore. When that happens, no matter how painful it is, you need to blow up the "Enterprise". That is, change what isn't working and embark on a new path. even if it means having to live on a Klingon ship for a while. Not forgiving her is not working for you. Being bitter and angry is no longer viable. Change something. Blow up the Enterprise.

Apart from a skydive.... Diamond earings, or jewelry of some description. Something she will have forever, to remind her of the degree she is going to have forever. And flowers for after the ceremony itself. And make sure she goes to the graduation ceremony and encourage her to buy something new to wear to it. And take her out to dinner/brunch/linch afterwards. Make it be a really big deal day!

I am afraid of heights too. Climbing into the plane is the scariest part of a skydive for me. We used to have a ladder for getting in and I had to crawl into the plane on my hands and knees! I can't even stand on a chair to change a light bulb without holding on to something!! I did some research on it and the fear of heights has something to do with being physically connected to the ground. When there is no connection between you and the ground (such as in a plane) it is not the same as standing on a ladder. And since you don't reconnect with the ground until you actually land the parachute, hanging under the canopy is not scary either. This is my experience anyway. I would advise getting the video. Yes it is a lot of money. But if you really think you will never do this again, then it is nice to have the evidence. And if you end up being a skydiver, then it is fun to have the video of your first jump! Good Luck and Bon Voyage.

But if you want good evidence for getting a GoPro, go to their website and show her all the fabulous videos you can get with the camera and not that many of them are skydiving. Think of the cool view of the world you might get if you strap the GoPro onto your 2-year-old!!

Can people who are already licensed fill this canopy proficiency card and get a "canopy endorsement", so to speak?

This is the basis of the second law of thermpdynamics. The first law, which is the conservation of energy, says we cannot create energy, only convert it from one form to another. The second law tells us that we cannot ever convert from one form to another with 100% efficiency. So the power regenerated will always be less than the difference in power consumption.

"How about just using the airflow to power a generator and create electricity that could then be directly used by the wind tunnel? Cut down on those huge electric bills. " And while we are at it, we could just create some extra and sell it back to the power company?!!

Personally, I would ask the instructor just before you get in and remind him to signal to the controls guy if he forgets. It is your time and your money. You should get what you want. Changing the air speed between jumpers is not a big deal. And for future reference, "beaucoup" is all one word!

I would like to watch it, but HandCam videos make me feel woozy. You should have paid for outside video. It makes for a MUCH better video to watch. So I guess you might have to resort to actually paying for AFF, like most of the rest of us!

Doesn't your gear get trashed? Just thinking about the logistics of it ....

Do you have to do a water landing at the Blue Hole? or is there a land option? are they islands around the blue hole?
