  1. Yes, it is the original slider. They are the same as Triathlon sliders. On two of my 135's I replaced the slider with a larger two string slider for longer snivels and it quiets the flapping. I have another 135 Diablo with the original one string slider that I installed a pocket on the leading edge. This also gives a longer snivel and quiets the flapping. And like already mentioned you can always pull it down over the risers and tuck it behind your head if you have softlinks or small rapides. Also, I have the original Diablo owners manuals if you need a copy. It is the same manual for the Triathlon. Onward and Upward!
  2. No worries Kevin, But honestly with all you went through in the last few years with your knee and recovery I don't understand why you would risk further injury jumping antique gear you have no experience with. You have never jumped a round, the belly mount reserve will be even harder to land if you have to use it. Think long and hard about this one. And make sure you got your ducks in a row. On the positive side Maytown would be the perfect place to do this. Wide open landing areas and friendly Amish farmers to help you when they find you. For practice do about 20 PLF's off the platform and have Ken critique you. (20 in each direction, forward, right, left, backward, right left) Then get in a hanging harness and practice cutaways with shot and a half capewells. Be sure to get pictures and video. 3. On jumps like this..... Onward and Upward!
  4. Hey Harv, I have to second that! With Maytown so close by I really can't understand why Kevin would go to the internet for advice. DeWolf can easily answer all three questions (and I am sure you could too!) I made about 60 jumps on PC's myself but I have no desire to go back. I was a teenager and forty pounds lighter in those days. Say Hi to the gang! Scott Onward and Upward!
  5. According to Sony the HC3 is 5mm longer and 4 mm shorter than the HC5, the width is the same. I am sure that all the boxes available for tape based HD cameras were designed for the cameye with the lanc on the side. Not likely they will change the design for cameras no longer in production. At any rate if I want to go back to a box it looks like I would have to modify it to work with the Hypeye and still have to use tape to hold the plug in place during freefall. I have to say I like the looks of the Tonfly box the best, it would be nice to see some pics of the back of the box. The pictures on their website show a box with the HC3 from the front and the side but not the back. Onward and Upward!
  6. Here are pics, it is in the rear of the camera just below the view finder on the right. Do you think this would fit in your Tonfly box? Onward and Upward!
  7. Sure, it's just the lower left side that has the metal. Without having to modify/cut the box or need tape to hold the plug in place? The Hypeye plug sticks out almost an inch from the back of the camera. Onward and Upward!
  8. That is what I thought regarding the HC-5. The question is would a Tonfly box work with a Hypeye D pro and an HC-3 which has the D-port in the rear of the the camera? I am currently using lots of gaffers tape to hold the D plug in place and I am thinking about going back to a box. The problem with the HC-3 is the socket is 180 off from the hypeye plug so you have to bring the cable down from the top instead of directly up from the helmet. The Cameye is no longer an option since the plug broke off inside the lanc port. Onward and Upward!
  9. If I am not mistaken the half moon (D-port) on the HC-5 is on the side, correct? Would a Tonfly box work with the HC-3 which has the D-port in the back? Onward and Upward!
  10. Pictures from this years Beach Weekend in Oregon. Onward and Upward!
  11. I have 3 Diablos, Love this canopy. When they stopped making them I stocked up and put a few away in the closet. In my opinion the best 7 cell ever made. I put larger sliders on them for longer snivels and I get consistent on-heading openings. The turns are super fast for sure. You won't win a swoop competition with it because when you flare it shuts down and comes to a stop but I think it has a great flare for a 7 cell. Great for landing in tight places. Just a great all around canopy for the right person, certainly not a novice canopy. I never did understand why they stopped making them. Onward and Upward!
  12. I had not had a cutaway since 1991, over 2000 jumps ago. Then a few months ago I had a baglock. I thought " You gotta be kidding me, a friggin BAGLOCK!" Yikes! Onward and Upward!
  13. Australia, about an hour north of Melbourne. Great place, I was there in 2005 Onward and Upward!
  14. Bump! Hey mods, why no sticky here? Onward and Upward!
  15. Bump, I am surprised this has not been made a sticky yet. I met Jarret when he was 11 at a boogie in Madras. He packed for me because I was unable due to an injury. It was the first time I had ever used a packer. I have known his family for a long time and jumped with his dad Brett since the 80's. Several years after we first met I jumped with Jarrett in Madras and the kids skills were incredible for someone so young. The Martins are good people and their family has been in the sport for decades going back to Jarrets grandfather. if you have not already done so please donate to the cause. Jarrets medical bills will be enormous. Follow the links posted above, any amount will help and I have no doubt will be greatly appreciated. Heal fast young man, we are all pulling for you! Onward and Upward!
  16. I guess the guy just claimed he saw it laying there and was going to pick it up so he could return it. Maybe his intentions were good, who knows. I did not actually talk to the trooper who grabbed it and just heard this second hand from another officer. When I went to pick it up the guy asked me what happened and acted awfully suspicious. I got the vibe like maybe they were going to charge me with something. (littering? reckless endangerment of motorists or something?) I could just see some trucker going 80 looking through the windshield and thinking WTF is that? Anyway I got it back and it seems to be in perfect shape. Onward and Upward!

    Diablo

    police have retrieved it, disregard.
  18. Bump Just a reminder to write down all your serial numbers. I have all the serial nubers from all my other gear but I recently hooked up this canopy and forgot to write it down. I know, stupid on my part. I got lucky this time. I found out today a state trooper watched it land and then saw saw someone pull over and try to stuff it into his car. The officer confiscated it from him and it has been sitting in the state police property room all weekend. I am a happy camper Onward and Upward!
  19. I had a chop today in Ogden Utah. The main landed next to the interstate and it was seen laying there. By the time we got there it was gone. Apparently a concerned citizen decided to pick it up and drive away with it. 00 Diablo 135 with brand new risers and new kill line PC with a monkey fist handle. The canopy is neon rainbow colors and very little jumps, looks like new. Unfortunately I don't have the serial number. If anyone sees a whuffo trying to sell a parachute from Utah that fits this description please send me a message. Sniff, I am sure gonna miss it. Onward and Upward!
  20. Who framed Roger Rabbit had the base jumping scene. Mickey Mouse had the famous line "isn't it kinda dangerous jumping without a parachute?" Then he and Bugs Bunny (who were wearing rigs) both open and the detective goes in. But since it is a cartoon he doesn't die, I think he bounces off something, I don't remember. Onward and Upward!
  21. Because it's there. Onward and Upward!
  22. I had considered going to nylon screws but instead I just got rid of the ringsite. No regrets at all. Onward and Upward!
