  1. Sorry I missed ya this weekend! We were too busy terrorizing the casino in Laughlin and robbing the train =). Nothing worse than 100+ skydivers that have traveled 300+ miles only to be foiled by weather!!!! Hope they treated you well here in Perris 8-).
  2. ] I built the data driven version of the fatalities website and host it. Barry is responsible for the content but as you mentioned, he hasn't updated it since May. Last I heard from him his life was really in a whirlwind. I'll check with him and see what his plans are. Perhaps he'd like to relagate the updating of the site to someone else.
  3. As a matter of fact I have a couple from that night... plus some other misc. photos.
  4. [reply I used to say that too.... I'm unable to find any humor in it anymore....
  5. You're going to get a lot of responses to this one. All I can say is.... (and you already know this) you've got problems
  6. Actually at the time I posted that yesterday (and this morning) it was showing clouds and showers on Friday and Saturday. It has apparently improved somewhat. Let's hope that by the time Thursday rolls around the forcast for WIND is gone too....
  7. Yeah yeah, rub it in Jack. We're stuck at work while you're out there frolicking around with blue skies and sunshine, turning back to back loads.
  8. I go through the dive one or more times in my head (depending on the difficultly level). I think about and check my equipment a few times. I look around at the equipment of others around me. Beyond that I just try to relax and my thoughts wander off to all sorts of things that have absolutely nothing to do with skydiving
  9. Hmmm about 350 so far this year, 400 by year's end. I mostly jumped only on Saturdays until July then I started jump Sat. and Sun. whenever possible. Days have gotten pretty damn short now though so I'm averaging 5-6 a day on the weekend.
  10. I'm there.... but someone needs to pray to the weather gods if we're going to do much skydiving this weekend http://www.accuweather.com/adcbin/local_index?nav=home&thisZip=89028&btnzip=Go
  11. Yeah that was pretty cool (and unexpected) to see myself on the big screen at the Film Festival. I only caught the last little bit of that video but a lot of people told me they saw it.
  12. Just watch out when you start combining the two . Last time I did hybrids out at Perris the hanger underneath me about took off my head at breakoff. Instead of letting go and falling away from the RW guys, he popped back up to belly. The result tore my face mask almost in half, ripped it out of the hinge on one side, and knocked my helmet up over my chin (Oxygn A3). I knew there was a reason why I wear a full face helmet...
  13. Bad timing, all of us Perris-ites (hey I like that...) will be at the Laughlin boogie that weekend....
  14. Love that photogenic picture of Meredith on there. Surprised she hasn't killed you for posting that Paul...
  15. Hmmm, first the report says calm winds then two paragraphs later it says high winds. Typical...
  16. 370... in the last year
  17. Can't do a 60 or 100+ way in a tunnel :). Besides, the swoop down to the formation is half the fun. I'm an RW guy and I enjoy the canopy ride (though I don't do hook turns) and I'd much rather jump out of a plane than go to the tunnel, even if it was as safe as the tunnel. My 2 cents worth....
  18. Well said Jessica. Kathy, shouldn't you be grading tests or something?
  19. There were a few I'd like to have gotten into a couple weeks ago! I think JFTC should be a semi-annual event!
  20. I live in So. Cal. 'Nuf said!
  21. Just my 2 cents worth on Reserve colors. Yes, you can custom order just about any colors for your reserve. I think it's wise though to order a solid color (preferably a bright color) and make sure that it doesn't contain ANY of the colors of your main parachute. In an emergency situation where every second counts you don't want to waste any time whatsoever trying to figure out if the canopy is your Main or your Reserve (or both). I'm not a rigger but I've also been told it's easier to identify tears or other similar problems when you're getting your reserve inspected and repacked if the canopy is a bright solid color (makes sense). Also it's easier to identify someone under canopy that's just had a cutaway and may need assistance when they reach the ground. I remember someone just off student status inquiring about ordering a reserve to match their main. That could have been a fatal mistake. Seems like an innocent enough question though to someone that may only have 50 jumps and is getting ready to order their first set of gear.
  22. Hitching a ride with the first Otter out on Thursday. Hoping to do a jump or two Thursday evening before the real fun starts.
  23. Wow this comes as a surprise. Ray was doing video for us less than two weeks ago when he had that surprise reserve ride as he exited the Casa. Hope all goes well and best wishes on a speedy recovery!
