  1. Alright enough already, let's rumble. "Rule number 1- No touching of the hair or face....and that's it. Now let's do this!" http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  2. That sounds like a description of a few real chicks I know! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  3. Woody is being discharged from the hospital soon. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  4. I spoke with Rhonda (Director of GM) at USPA just now. She has no knowledge of any of the Skyride/ASC DZ having membership re-instated. Can we agree that the information provided on this forum in general should be looked at with major skepticism at all times until verified? It is amazing how everyone just accepts the info out here with no attempt to at validation. And people wonder why politicians get away with lying? If it's written or on TV it must be true. I think the discussion about the merits of USPA should continue. I personally as a DZO think the GM membership program should be axed altogether. The only reason I have it is because the other guys do. I would still require membership for the insurance. I know a lot of other DZO's feel the same way I do. I get very little out of being a GM. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  5. If anyone would like to help the family with a donation, please make a check payable to "Charles Woodard" and send it to the DZ. Skydive Atlanta, RE: Woody 2333 Delray Rd Thomaston, GA 30286 Due to the nature of this incident, I'd rather not give his home address out. I will make sure they get any correspondence you send, even if it's just a get well card. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  6. Update everyone. Woody is now awake and alert. He has little recollection of what occurred. His wife said he just "wants a cigarette and wants to go home". He may go home as early as tonight. All of his tubes and wires are gone except the one main I.V. The doctors will continue to evaluate the condition of his eyesight and hearing over the coming weeks. He can have visitors now, however, to help facilitate his recovery the family has asked to please keep your visit very brief. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  7. No one here has any evidence that Woody did anything. No one here has any evidence as to why Brian did this at all. It could have nothing to do with a woman. I might. All that anyone has is speculation and rumors. Ultimately, it really doesn't matter. The facts are what matter. HERE ARE THE FACTS: Brian has a warrant out for a FELONY Aggrevated Assault from this. In addition to others in GA and FL. This means he is a criminal sought by the justice system. Woody is in ICU with a life threatening brain injury and multiple facial fractures. He will be out of work for quite sometime and has children to take care of. His wife works full time, so taking care of this will likely strain their resources further. The medical bill from this will be tens of thousands if not a hundred plus. Even with the best insurance plan he will be paying out the ass for years. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  8. They look completely pathetic. Dave's voice is horrible. I saw Van Halen live back in the late 80's and they had so much energy. Eddie was obviously shitfaced but still amazing. Now they look like the tired old burnouts they are. WRT background tracks, lots of bands use them, even bands like U2. No surprise. Even MA might not be able to hit a lot of those notes every night on tour at this point in his career. It is really lame for Eddie to take his kid on tour instead though. Half of the show was MA's crazy energy. Wolfe is about as shitty a performer as they come. It's a real testament to how bad modern music and bands are that when all of these former super rockers have to come back and try to find the glory days and people pay 10 times face value for a ticket to see them embarrass themselves. If there is a band you love today, go see them live now. Cause when they are 60 years old and no longer relevant, you'll wish you had. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  9. Sweeet! You picked a slow weekend for it though. Only 34 loads today. (Friday) C U Here! http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com

  13. I can explain, you need to grow up. Your post is it's own answer. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  14. I'm workin on it. I thought Scott was going to do it, but he is moving that weekend. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  15. Update. Talked to the airport, no charge for camping, brought it down to $15 for the RV's though. This goes directly to the airport, not to us. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  16. I agree with Chris's points here. This is a great learning opportunity for jumpers. Jumpers should educate themselves on the qualifications of the aircraft and pilot. As far as I always understood the regs, as long as you are not being compensated for the flight, you can carry passengers wherever you want under Part 91. Sharing expenses is even allowed as long as the a/c owner pays his share as well. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  17. This is total BS(not the post) and if true, would never hold up in arbitration or court. GA has been using portable oxygen in non-pressurized, turbocharged aircraft for over 50 years successfully. Does the FAA really mean to say that a Cessna 182 is no longer allowed to cross the Rockies unless the owner spends a quarter of the aircraft's value to install an STC'd oxygen system? That being said, the FAA may have temporarily halted the high altitude operations using that O2 system until they could investigate further. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com

  19. In our thoughts and prayers here. Take it easy like the doctor says. I know it's hard but try not to worry and stress. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  20. Fairweather friends? Stealing from you? Are you sure your not a DZO somewhere? kidding guys. If you want friends at the DZ to be friends outside the DZ, you have to cultivate a relationship away from the DZ. You can't blame folks for not being buddy, buddy with you when you aren't jumping if your relationship was based on jumping together and partying at the DZ. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  21. Cypres is the most reliable piece of gear ever developed for skydivers. Stick with it. Vigil has had multiple complaints about misfires and still claim in public they have no problem. Ours fired on an AFF, on video, at over 3,500 feet. They replaced it with a new one claiming that they had a parts supplier problem. When you a selling a last line of defense, you should test until it's foolproof, then sell it to the public. Not let the public be your test-bed. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  22. Only place I know where one night the party was so good, not 1, but 2 people shit themselves. I did hear someone voluntarily pissed themselves this past Saturday night though. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  23. I flew the Elvi on a demo here in Georgia a couple years back. One of those knuckleheads popped his sparkler in the plane about 3 minutes prior to the jump. Whole f**king plane fills with bright light and smoke. The guys sticks his leg out the door till it burns out. The smartass has the nerve to say, "Don't worry, it's a cold burning flare, it won't burn anything." Of course that was BS, it burned the carpet so bad I had to replace it. Anyone that would fly a small crossbraced canopy into Turner field is an idiot and asking for serious trouble. It's just great how people put their ego before the reputation of the sport. --Boy, I looked so cool in front of all those people....or maybe it's, damn, it's such a pain to do demos now that the FAA has to be there to verify what type of canopies we're flying before each demo.....or maybe it's, ya it was great when we could do demos into stadiums before the FAA banned it when that jerk under a Velo killed somebody in the stands http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  24. As a 121 or 135 op you have to comply with all manufacturer recommendations, service bulletins, and AD's as well as required replacement intervals. Part 91 is only required replacement items and AD's. My opinion is that it's a pretty gray area between copmpliance and airworthiness and the FAA contradicts itself. As any FAA administrator will tell you, either the aircraft is airworthy or it is not. In any case, I comply with all the standards for my aircraft because I never want to have to explain to someone why I didn't. Those standards exist because they have been demonstrated as a safe operating envelope. I agree with you Chris that any engine not producing sufficient take-off power should not be flown. But according to many operators, enough to get off the ground and climb to altitude is enough power. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
  25. Yes it does. A -20 has an ESHP (equivalent shaft horsepower rating) of 550 and a max take-off temp of 750 C, max operating/climb/cruise of 680 C. The -27/28 has the same temp limits with a 675 ESHP. The 27/28 has a much stronger compressor section and different hot, so develops the same power with a much lower temp. Therefore you have much more margin for deterioration while still making power. Even when well past manufacturer's TBO. As the -20 deteriorates over time it simply cannot develop 550 HP with outside air temps of over 80-85 F. I have seen this time and time again. Now consider this. A 9650 lb max gross King Air powered with -20's that make about 850 ft/lbs torque on one side and 900 on the other climbs on an 85 F day at around 800-1,000 FPM. A Twin Otter max gross is between 11,500 and 12,500 depending on the model with those same engines. I've flown Twin Otters like this that made a 700 FPM climb after take-off. You have zero margin for an engine loss and you pray every time you take-off. Young pilots looking to build turbine time will fly a horse turd with wings if it has a turbine attached. Now please understand, until the final NTSB investigation is complete, we won't know what the actual cause of the Sullivan crash was. I was speculating as to the lawyer's argument with regards to P&W. After re-reading my original post I should've been more clear about my speculation versus my fact based commentary. http://www.skydiveatlanta.com http://www.musiccityskydiving.com
