  1. Skeezy fucking stoners . . . don't they realize your suppose to get wasted and drive home from the DZ?
  2. I'm learning how to pro-pack but I seem to get stuck on every pack job after stuffing the nose between my legs. I can't seem to make sense out of the nylon mess when it comes time to flake the canopy. Do you guys have any advice or pointers to simplify flaking? My home DZ does have one student rig with colored lines if that would make things easier.
  3. I'm not sure how long the snivel was. He did say that he had line twists on his main. Our instructors said that the mains take 800 feet to completely inflate and that AAD will fire at 1000 feet +/- 400 feet. So I'm thinking that Adam probably pulled just under 2000 feet(1900 maybe?) and the AAD fired a little high, 1300 feet maybe while the main was still inflating.
  4. Haha, yeah they do out here in west Texas. I'm glad to know they actually work!
  5. My friend Adam(9 jumps) was doing a 2 way from 8000 ft and lost altitude awareness while practicing some turns. He checked his altimeter around 2,500 ft., pulled around 2 grand and ended up with 2 canopies out. He cutaway and stood up his landing on a 26ft. round reserve. Ironically, he lost the low pull contest with his instructor.
  6. I have no idea how to make this link work . . . http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=125161&catid=339 BSBD
  7. Some guys from the DZ were offering to sell me a Heatwave 190 and a wings container with a raven 180 reserve for $1500. Do you think this would be dangerous for a beginner? I have 16 jumps. They said I would need to do some high hop n pops to get used to the elliptical canopy.
  8. I was just wondering how cheap is too cheap when purchasing a used rig? I have $1200 saved up to spend on skydiving. Should i spend the money on student jumps using rental gear? or should I buy a cheap used rig and pay less to jump? This is a link to one of the rigs I was looking at($850) http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=82963;d=1
  9. Butt Hash . . . it's the only way to fly.
  10. Is this what happens when you stall a wingsuit? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyYMTK5-W5k
  11. You should do static line . . . it's cheaper!
  12. "They call him the Bodhisattva" . . . Blue Skies Black Death Patrick Swayze
  13. Damn! Point Break is the reason I started skydiving! Blue Skies Black Death Patrick Swayze
  14. Why are people still talking about this? James Boole already beat Jeb . . . and he didn't even need a ramp!
  15. Would a used Fury 220 be a poor canopy choice for a newbie? I am a broke college student planning on earning my A License this year. This canopy is selling for $200 in the classifieds and I believe it is the 7 cell version of the 9 cell Manta 288 that is in my student rig. Do you think this canopy would a safe choice for a jumper on a budget looking to purchase his first parachute? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=81055;d=1
  16. They actually don't have a wrist mount altimeter to rent, just the chest mounted altimeter.
  17. I was just wondering when I should buy my own altimeter. This summer I plan on making some jumps. Hopefully I will be doing some ten and fifteen second delays. Will I need a wrist mounted altimeter for these jumps? The DZ has a chest mounted altimeter I can use for free. So should i spend the $150 bucks on 3 extra jumps or will I need a wrist mounted altimeter?
  18. You need a Hayabusa in your life. If you can't afford a bus, then you should just spend your money on jumps.
  19. One of the side effects of Adderall is ANXIETY! If you are an anxious person, you should probably avoid taking uppers. Mixing adderall and xanax is really no different than mixing meth and booze. You just don't need a prescription for the latter.
  20. I'd have to disagree with your post regarding limited training of federal flight deck officers. The majority of Commercial Airline pilots are ex-military.
