  1. I was just wondering where I should place a hook knife when jumping student gear with a student jumpsuit. I currently don't own any gear and I think a hook knife will be my first purchase.
  2. I read your post "Lucky & Stupid" . . . SCARY SHIT! I too saw my pilot chute fly past me . . . thank god I didn't end up with a horseshoe like you because I don't carry a hook knife!
  3. They have another wings rig with the ripcord at the bottom of the container, similar to the modern systems with throw-out pilot chutes. I'm sure they'll let me jump it sometime before I get my A.
  4. What's with all this TSO business? Convincing Travis Pastrana to wear a rig at all seems like progress!
  5. The ripcord is actually right across from the cutaway handle. I think I'm just bending my neck too much when I'm looking for the ripcord causing me to de-arch. Thanks for all the advice everyone!
  6. Well I actually got conflicting advice from my instructors. The jumpmaster told me, "don't pull when your unstable!" and the DZO told me "pull at five or I'm putting your ass back on the static line!"
  7. On my last two five second delays I went unstable at pull time. I'm jumping a student rig with a spring loaded pilot chute. My instructor said that I move my head too much when i look for my ripcord and that's probably messing up my arch causing me to go unstable. Should i change my count from arch - arch - look - reach - pull to arch - arch - ARCH - reach - pull? Any advice would be appreciated!
  8. I remember reading on here something about the fyb suits lifting your rig off your back and possibly making it difficult to find your pc @ pull time. Have any of you guys ever experienced this?
  9. Newb question . . . Why would a camera flyer not want to use an RSL? I'm sure it has something to do with cutting away the helmet? Another newb question . . . I've seen a few cutaway videos online where it seems to take the jumper longer to cutaway one of the risers than the other, is that because of an RSL?
  10. I think your right Belgian Draft. Alcohol is obviously less dangerous than smoking marijuana. I mean jesus, have you seen all those babies born with the Fetal Marijuana Syndrome? It's just terrible!
  11. One last noob question. I've never lost a toggle before. Can you reach a lost toggle, or do you just have to unstow the other toggle, let it go, then steer with your risers?
  12. Hey thanks for the replies. I didn't realize that the only thing that happened was a lost steering toggle and some slider hang up. I'm sure i would have been fine.
  13. Did the woman in this video just lose one of her steering toggles? I couldn't tell exactly in the video what happened. I suppose i was just wondering what I need to do if that ever happens to me so I don't smack the pavement like this woman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fswWHwyqpRE
